Based on the obtained kinetic regularities and the mixture of the products of the reaction of ethylbenzene oxidation with ozone in acetic acid, the scientific bases of the technology of synthesis of acetophenone was developed. It is shown that in the ozonation conditions, in the presence of manganese (II) acetate, it is possible to direct oxidation mainly through the ethyl group of the substrate with the formation of aromatic products. The technological parameters are studied and the optimal conditions for the process realization are ascertained. The obtained experimental and theoretical results allowed us to propose a new low-temperature low-waste method of acetophenone production, which ensures the efficiency of the process due to the mild oxidation conditions (288 K, atmospheric pressure) and the reduction of toxic waste. The technology can be an alternative to existing methods of the synthesis of aromatic ketones.

Abstract. This study presents the difference between oxidised organic compounds formed by α-pinene oxidation under various conditions in the CLOUD environmental chamber: (1) pure ozonolysis (in the presence of hydrogen as hydroxyl radical (OH) scavenger) and (2) OH oxidation (initiated by nitrous acid (HONO) photolysis by ultraviolet light) in the absence of ozone. We discuss results from three Atmospheric Pressure interface Time-of-Flight (APi-TOF) mass spectrometers measuring simultaneously the composition of naturally charged as well as neutral species (via chemical ionisation with nitrate). Natural chemical ionisation takes place in the CLOUD chamber and organic oxidised compounds form clusters with nitrate, bisulfate, bisulfate/sulfuric acid clusters, ammonium, and dimethylaminium, or get protonated. The results from this study show that this process is selective for various oxidised organic compounds with low molar mass and ions, so that in order to obtain a comprehensive picture of the elemental composition of oxidation products and their clustering behaviour, several instruments must be used. We compare oxidation products containing 10 and 20 carbon atoms and show that highly oxidised organic compounds are formed in the early stages of the oxidation.

AbstractThe bis(melaminium) sulphate dihydrate, 2,4,6-triamine-1,3,5-triazin-1,3-ium tartrate monohydrate, 2,4,6-triamine-1,3,5-triazin-1-ium hydrogenphthalate, 2,4,6-triamine-1,3,5-triazin-1-ium acetate acetic acid solvate monohydrate, 2,4,6-triamine-1,3,5-triazin-1-ium bis(selenate) trihydrate, melaminium diperchlorate hydrate, melaminium bis(trichloroacetate) monohydrate and melaminium bis(4-hydroxybenzenesulphonate) dihydrate were discovered recently as perspective materials for nonlinear optical applications. On the basis of X-ray structures for eight melaminium compounds the time dependent Hartree Fock (TDHF) method was used for calculation of the polarizability, and first and second hyperpolarizability. Detailed directional studies of calculated hyperpolarizability for all investigated melaminium compounds are shown. The theoretical results are compared with experimental values of β.

The heat capacities of 25 liquid aliphatic, alicyclic, and aromatic ketones and aldehydes at 298.2 K and atmospheric pressure have been measured calorimetrically with a typical uncertainty of 0.5%. Additive parameters are proposed for estimating Cp(1) of ketones and aldehydes.

In recent years, hydrogen peroxide and nitrous oxide (1) "green oxidants" – have attracted much attention of researchers as a selective oxidizing agent for the catalytic oxidation of pyridine bases. In this regard, the reaction of pyridine oxidation by hydrogen peroxide and nitrous oxide under homogeneous conditions, in the gas phase, without the use of catalysts, at atmospheric pressure, has been experimentally investigated. Areas of selective oxidation of pyridine with hydrogen peroxide and nitrous oxide have been established, and optimal conditions have been found for obtaining valuable raw materials required in the petrochemical, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries

The present article aims to optimize the decarbonization of Timahdit oil shale layer Y by removing carbonates from the raw rock using acetic acid. The response surface methodology “central composite design (CCD)” has been used as a method of optimization to study the 3 factors of the process. The factors studied are the concentration of the acid, the processing time, and the ratio (liquid/solid). The optimal conditions with 68.17% of residue rate are obtained with 2 mol/l as concentration, 120 min as a time of treatment and 10.02 for the ratio.The raw (Y) and optimized materials (YO) were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results showed that the acetic acid used to remove carbonates affects the chemical composition and the texture evolution of the residues.

Abstract A method is presented for determining residues of chlorbenside including its sulfoxide and sulfone oxidation products. The method employs the Mills-Onley-Gaither extraction procedure. Chlorbenside and chlorbenside sulfoxide are converted to chlorbenside sulfone by a short oxidation with chromic-acetic acid solution. Chlorbenside sulfone is isolated from interfering pesticides and most oxidation products on an aluminum oxide column and determined by electron capture gas chromatography. Recoveries for mixtures of the three components added to apple samples at 0.3–5 ppm (calculated as chlorbenside) were between 92 and 110%.
