In order to achieve the smooth surface of diamond, several kinds of mixture oxidizing agents have been used to polish the single crystal diamond by a designed polishing apparatus. The existing of graphite and amorphous carbon has been found in the surface of diamond after polishing. The mechanochemical actions of oxidizing agents and the polishing iron plate have been proved. The mixture of oxidizing agents can decrease the polishing temperature so that the super-smooth surface of single crystal diamond can be achieved at lower temperature. The method provided is benefit not only to simplify polishing device and control the polishing process, but also to improve the removal rate and surface roughness.

Construction of a modern warship can occupy a period of more than three years, during which time more than three million man-hours may be expended, and it is necessary to control the acquisition, production and installation of some 250000 items of material and equipment. To execute the process effectively requires an efficient means of planning and control, and this paper describes the approach to that task adopted by a United Kingdom shipyard. The concepts of Build Strategy, Work Packaging, Materials Definition, Process Engineering and Labor Cost Control, as related to the shipyard's organization structure, are explored. The paper describes the establishment and operation of a system of planning and control based on task definition.

Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) using gold nanoparticles as the catalyst to grow high-quality single-crystal gallium nitride nanowires was developed. This method enables control over several important aspects of the growth, including control of the nanowire diameter by using monodispersed gold clusters, control of the nanowire location via e-beam patterning of the catalyst sites, and control of the nanowire orientation via epitaxial growth ona-plane sapphire substrates. Our work opens up new ways to use GaN nanowires as nanobuilding blocks.
