Abstract REFERENCE: H. M. R. Aboutorabi and L. Kung, “Application of Coupled Structural Acoustic Analysis and Sensitivity Calculations to a Tire Noise Problem,” Tire Science and Technology, TSTCA, Vol. 40, No. 1, January – March 2012, pp. 25–41. ABSTRACT: Tire qualification for an original equipment (OE) program consists of several rounds of submissions by the tire manufacturer for evaluation by the vehicle manufacturer. Tires are evaluated both subjectively, where the tire performance is rated by an expert driver, and objectively, where sensors and testing instruments are used to measure the tire performance. At the end of each round of testing the evaluation results are shared and requirements for performance improvement for the next round are communicated with the tire manufacturer. As building and testing is both expensive and time consuming predictive modeling and simulation analysis that can be applied to the performance of the tire is of great interest and value. This paper presents an application of finite element analysis (FEA) modeling along with experimental verification to solve tire noise objections at certain frequencies raised by an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) account. Coupled structural-acoustic analysis method was used to find modal characteristics of the tire at the objectionable frequencies. Sensitivity calculations were then carried out to evaluate the strength of contribution from each tire component to the identified modes. Based on these findings changes to the construction were proposed and implemented that addressed the noise issue.

The actual bowstring arch CFST is taken as the background, the paper using finite element analysis method, researched the shrinkage and creep of combination of steel and concrete structure. Through the use of different countries regulation of shrinkage and creep of concrete, the effects of the structure deflection separately were studied ,then explain the different influence degree of different norms in the calculation of the creep and shrinkage of concrete; The paper also has also put forward the doubt about accurate calculation concrete filled steel tubular structure shrinkage and creep of concrete, it puts forward new requirements for the research and standards about steel tube concrete shrinkage and creep at last.

In order to get the optimal design scheme of a directly buried heating bent pipeline with many fold angles in a certain practical engineering, this paper simulated the pipeline by the ANSYS finite element analysis software.Through applying different boundary conditions to the model, the stress was analyzed, the destroy forms of the pipeline and the positions of stress danger points were determined, and the fatigue life was checked according to BS EN. Compared with the current design method, adopting numerical simulation analysis method has greatly reduced the number of the usage of compensators and fixed piers, broke through the restrictions for larger fold angle in the standard, and at the same time, it has reduced the construction difficulties and the engineering investment, improved the reliability of the network, this paper has guiding significance to the engineering practice.

Slider is one of the most important parts in High-Speed Horizontal Machining NC center, it plays a great role in the performance of static and dynamic. In order to assure the working accuracy and dynamic characters, slider must be analyzed to verify the reasonable of original design. According to the structure of slider and based on the theoretical and finite element simulation analysis method, a more reasonable boundary condition is carried out. To be noted that in this paper a method using the conception of combination is introduced. On the other hand the counterforce can be more accurate than before and it makes the following analysis easier.

The purpose of this study was to determinate , using the Finite Element Analysis Method, the mechanical stress in a solid body , temporary molar restored with the self-curing GC material. The originality of our study consisted in using an accurate structural model and applying a concentrated force and a uniformly distributed pressure. Molar structure was meshed in a Solid Type 45 and the output data were obtained using the ANSYS software. The practical predictions can be made about the behavior of different restorations materials.

Compared with other materials, high-volume fraction aluminum-based silicon carbide composites (hereinafter referred to as SiCp/Al) have many advantages, including high strength, small change in the expansion coefficient due to temperature, high wear resistance, high corrosion resistance, high fatigue resistance, low density, good dimensional stability, and thermal conductivity. SiCp/Al composites have been widely used in aerospace, ordnance, transportation service, precision instruments, and in many other fields. In this study, the ABAQUS/explicit large-scale finite element analysis platform was used to simulate the milling process of SiCp/Al composites. By changing the parameters of the tool angle, milling depth, and milling speed, the influence of these parameters on the cutting force, cutting temperature, cutting stress, and cutting chips was studied. Optimization of the parameters was based on the above change rules to obtain the best processing combination of parameters. Then, the causes of surface machining defects, such as deep pits, shallow pits, and bulges, were simulated and discussed. Finally, the best cutting parameters obtained through simulation analysis was the tool rake angle γ0 = 5°, tool clearance angle α0 = 5°, corner radius r = 0.4 mm, milling depth ap = 50 mm, and milling speed vc= 300 m/min. The optimal combination of milling parameters provides a theoretical basis for subsequent cutting.

A novel elastic body design idea of six-axis wrist force sensor with a floating beam was raised based on the analysis of the robot six-axis wrist force sensor with a floating beam. The design ideas improve the sensor’s dynamic performance significantly, while not reducing its sensitivity. First, the design ideas were described in detail, which were analyzed by mechanical modeling and were verified by finite element analysis. Second, the static simulation analysis of the novel elastomer of sensor was carried out. According to the strain distribution performance, the position of the strain gauges pasted and the connection mode of the full-bridge circuits were decided, which can achieve theoretical decoupling. Finally, the comparison between the static and dynamic performance of the novel sensor and the original sensor with floating beams was done. The results show that the static and dynamic performance of the novel six-axis wrist sensor are all better than the original sensor.
