Some aspects of reproductive biology of the mudskipper Apocryptes bato (Hamilton 1822) from the coastal waters of Chittagong, Bangladesh was conducted. Disproportionate occurrence of male and female (1.20 : 1) was observed in the number of two sexes. A prolonged spawning season was found from June to early October with a single peak. The aspects in the ovary indicate one complete spawning of females in a single spawning season. The fecundity was found to vary from 7453 - 31195 with an average of 17590 ± 6867. Significant coefficient of correlation between the diameters of the eggs of corresponding anterior, middle and posterior regions of the right and left ovaries indicated the simultaneous release of eggs from both the ovaries. A much closer relationship of fecundity and the significant ‘t’ values indicated fecundity increases with the increase of total length, standard length, body weight and gonad weight. Asiat. Soc. ABSTRACT The reproductive potential of red porgy in coastal waters of Buenos Aires Province (Argentina) and Uruguay (34º-39ºS) was studied by means of a macroscopic and histological analysis of the gonads. Length and age at first maturity were determined, and fecundity, spawning frequency and egg quality were estimated. The spawning season extended from spring through summer between October and January with a peak of spawning in December. Length and age at maturity for sexes combined was 24.5 cm TL and 1.54 years, respectively. Batch fecundity ranged from 6,974 (25 cm TL) to 110,725 (39 cm TL) hydrated oocytes and showed significant linear relationships with total length and ovary-free weight. Relative fecundity ranged from 16 to 172 oocytes per female gram (ovary free). Spawning frequency was 58.5% during January 2011, indicating that females spawned once every 1-2 days at the peak of the spawning season. The life history of red porgy in Argentina and Uruguay was characterized by a young age at first maturity and partial, almost daily, spawning in a bounded time period, a life history strategy that would facilitate population expansion or colonization of new areas, and high population recovery rates or growth (r).

Length–weight relations were estimated for 14 fish species sampled from the coastal waters off the Gwangyang Bay in South Korea. The following species were studied: Okamejei kenojei (Müller et Henle, 1841); Muraenesox cinereus (Forsskål, 1775); Thryssa adelae (Rutter, 1897); Thryssa kammalensis (Bleeker, 1849); Tribolodon hakonensis (Günther, 1877); Inimicus japonicus (Cuvier, 1829); Chelidonichthys spinosus (McClelland, 1844); Jaydia lineata (Temminck et Schlegel, 1842); Sillago japonica Temminck et Schlegel, 1843; Pholis nebulosa (Temminck et Schlegel, 1845); Favonigobius gymnauchen (Bleeker, 1860); Pampus echinogaster (Basilewsky, 1855); Cynoglossus joyneri Günther, 1878; Takifugu niphobles (Jordan et Snyder, 1901).The length–weight relation of Thryssa adelae (Rutter, 1897), (Engraulidae) has not been previously reported. The new maximum total length of Thryssa kammalensis (18.0 cm) is now provided. The values of coefficient a ranged from 0.0007 to 0.0218, and the values of exponent b ranged from 2.82 to 3.52.
