Como podemos experimentar mientras leemos este resumen, la lectura silenciosa a menudo implica escuchar nuestra “voz interior” y pronunciar palabras mentalmente. Vygotsky determinó que esta voz interior es el producto de un proceso llamado internalización en el que el habla externa se transforma en habla interna. Sin embargo, queda por determinar cómo los estudiantes de inglés comienzan a usar su voz interior para internalizar este idioma mediante una serie de lecturas rápidas. Implementamos un estudio de tipo constructivista-interpretativo para determinar los usos iniciales de la voz interior en la internalización del inglés a través de la lectura de textos escritos en lengua extranjera. El estudio se llevó a cabo en una universidad pública de Popayán (Colo mbia) en una clase de 17 estudiantes de inglés como lengua extranjera. Se recopilaron datos a través de informes verbales y una técnica de recuerdo estimulado. Este estudio sugiere que los estudiantes principiantes usan su habla interna principalmente para subvocalizar, vocalizar, repetir y traducir mentalmente lo que leen. El estudio también sugiere que los estudiantes usan el habla interna para hacer asociaciones con imágenes visuales a medida que su habilidad lectora se desarrolla. This research investigated the effect of speed reading on students’ reading comprehension. The writer used quantitative as the research method and used the quasi experiment as a research design. The writer used experimental class to imply the speed reading method and control group for the other technique in teaching reading. For collecting the data the writer gave the pre – test for experimental and control group, then administrated the treatment for experiment class , finally the researcher administrated the post – test to find out the improvement of speed reading method for the student . Based on the writer interpretation it is concluded that hypothesis is accepted.it is suggested that the teacher should imply the speed reading method in teaching reading because research finding proved that speed reading gave more improvement in reading comprehension that the other technique in teaching reading and the speed reading method was more interesting than conventional method.

This study was designed to test the effect of practice on the expansion of peripheral vision. 24 college speed reading students were tested for a measure of peripheral vision with a Lafayette Color Perimeter. Half of the Ss practiced detection of a white stimulus object for a period of 6 wk. Ss serving as controls assisted by moving the carrier into the visual field of an experimental partner. Analysis of variance showed significant increase in visual fields for all Ss, experimental and control. Attention factors and equipment used in the speed reading classes appear to account for these results.
