A new species of the diverse augochlorine bee genus Chlerogella Michener (Halictinae: Augochlorini) is described and figured from southwestern Colombia.  Chlerogella anchicaya Engel, Gonzalez, & Hinojosa-Díaz, new species, is similar to C. agaylei Engel and C. materdonnae Engel, both occurring on the eastern slopes of the Andes in Ecuador.  There are also some similarities with C. eumorpha Engel from the western Andean foothills in northern Ecuador, but differences in rostral length and male terminalia can distinguish these species.  Revised couplets are provided to the South American species of Chlerogella to permit identification of the new species.

The South American species of Desmarestia are revised using morphological features of field sporophytes and reproductive and ontogenetic characters obtained from laboratory culture of gametophytes and young sporophytes. Ten entities including a new species are recognized: D. chordalis, D. confervoides comb.nov., D. distans, D. firma, D. gayana, D. ligulata, D. muelleri sp.nov., D. patagonica, D. peruviana, and D. tropica. Although the taxa were distinguished in part using features of the life history in culture, most field thalli can be identified using morphological characters. A key to the South American species of Desmarestia is provided. In the present work based on material from several areas in Brazil, the species of Americabaetis represented in the country are revised. A new species, A. mecistognathus, sp. nov., is described based on nymphs from Santa Catarina, the male adult of A. labiosus Lugo-Ortiz & McCafferty is described, a key to the nymphs of the South American species is provided, whereas comments regarding the taxonomy and habitat distribution of the Brazilian species are presented.

A new species of Chysis sect. Chysis is described from the Central-West region of Brazil. It is similar to C. aurea and C. bruennowiana, the other two South American species of the genus, but differs in the pale pink perianth with magenta stripes or dots on the labellum and on the abaxial surface of the column, and by a labellum that is wider than long with the mid-lobe not surpassing the length of the lateral lobes. The species, which confirms the presence of the genus in the Brazilian plateau, had been previously misidentified as C. laevis. Photographs, an illustration, and a key to the South American species are provided.

A new species of Trichoscelia Westwood (Mantispidae: Symphrasinae) is described herein, T. geraldoi n. sp. This is the 16th species classified within the genus and presents a quite unusual body color pattern for the group. A key for the South American species of Trichoscelia and a checklist of the Symphrasinae species are presented.

We report here for the first time horsehair worms (Nematomorpha) from Hong Kong (China). Most specimens belong to the genus Chordodes, and can be assigned to C. bipilus, C. caledoniensis and to C. cf. moutoni. Two specimens have a cuticular pattern resembling the South American species C. peraccae or C. bouvieri, but for Southeast Asia this pattern is new. These two specimens are reported here as Chordodes sp. Additionally, Gordionus chinensis was found. One new species, Acutogordius koljai, is described from Malaysia. It has a characteristically-structured region posterior to the postcloacal crescent which sets it apart from previously described species in this genus.

Pachypops is a South American freshwater sciaenid genus characterized by having two anal-fin spines, three mental barbels, an inferior mouth, a swimbladder with a pair of short appendages anteriorly and a pair of longer appendages projected posteriorly, and the haemal spine of the first caudal distinctly expanded. Three valid Pachypops species are recognized herein. Of the six nominal species previously assigned to Pachypops, two are herein recognized as valid (Perca fourcroi and Micropogon trifilis), two are assigned to other sciaenid genera (Pachypops adspersus and Pachypops cevegei) and two are considered junior synonyms (Corvina biloba and Pachypops camposi). A seventh nominal species, Pachyurus nattereri, formerly considered a valid species of Pachyurus, is determined to be a junior synonym of Pachypops fourcroi, and lectotype and paralectotypes are designated for it. Pachypops fourcroi occurs in the Orinoco, Amazonas, Essequibo, Corantijn, and Approuague River basins, and Pachypops trifilis in rivers of Guyana and middle and lower reaches of the Rio Amazonas basin. A third valid species, Pachypops pigmaeus n. sp., is herein described from tributaries of the Rio Amazonas, Brazil.

A New Species

Hysterionica s.l. (including Neja) comprises ca. 15 species distributed mainly in the grasslands of southern Brazil, Uruguay, central and northern Argentina and Southern Paraguay. Based on field surveys, study of nomenclatural types and other specimens, and review of literature, a new species is proposed here, Hysterionica chamomilloides, endemic of mountainous regions of northern Uruguay, and southwestern Rio Grande do Sul state, Brazil. This work provides a detailed morphological description of the new species, information on its geographic distribution, habitat, phenology, conservation status, and discusses the main differences between H. chamomilloides and the morphologically most similar species. Illustrations, images and a key to the South American species of Hysterionica are also supplied.
