A study devoted to the gradual emergence of pictorial depth in Cimabue's paintings, and how it applies, together with other factors, to the understanding of their sequential chronology. The conclusions reached underscore the vast difference in Cimabue 's conservative art and the exceptional naturalism of the evolving Life of Saint Francis mural cycle lining the lower nave walls in the upper church of San Francesco at Assisi.

ADMONITIONS OF SAINT FRANCIS I-II: A EROTIC SPIRITUALITY This article, as an approach among the many possible in the franciscan studies, intends to make analysis of the Admonitions of Saint Francis in the numbers I and II showing how the development of an erotics discourse is possible in a discourse on eroticism insofar the man’s force itself, which is carried out as an experience that is at the heart of the franciscan form of life. For this we use contributions of moral theology, ethics and philosophy, especially the Batallie’s philosophy of eroticism, to rebuild in categorical terms what we believe, with all the franciscan tradition, only be fully known through an existential understanding.

There are references about it even in the Old Testament. There are sublime interventions from Saint Augustine, Saint Francis of Assisi and Erasmus of Rotterdam. More recently, in the 19th century, people have discussed “Deep Ecology”, based on the work of Teilhard de Chardin and, later, of Aldo Leopoldo (1940), Arne Naess (1970), etc. Nowadays, the debate about life and sustainability is permanently visible in the media, in United Nations’ gatherings, etc. This article intends to question the role of ethics as a fundamental resource in this discussion, conceiving ethics as something that goes beyond the mere aesthetic approach, so costly to modern life.
