<i>Fusicoccum</i> canker of highbush blueberry was first detected in 1973 in Poland. The diseases appeared on the shoots of variety Jersey in the collection of the Department of Pomology, Agricultural University, Warsaw-Ursyn6w. The disease was caused by the fungus <i>Godronia cassandrae</i> f. <i>vaccinii</i> {Peck.) Groves. The conidial stage is known as <i>Topospora myrtilli</i> (Felfch.) Boermema syn. <i>Fusicoccum putrefaciens</i> Shear.

The genus Asterobolus is proposed for an undescribed hyphomycete characterized by multicelled, star-shaped conidia forcibly discharged by a downfolding of the radiating appendages and rupture of the sporogenous cell. Asterobolus gaultheriae sp. nov. is the causal agent of a leaf spot of Gaultheria shallon Pursh. The fungus also infects species of Vaccinium, Pteridium, Malus, and Menziesia. Sclerotia were observed only on Gaultheria and infections of other hosts were found only near infected Gaultheria. In addition to the star-shaped conidia, a Gliocladium-like conidial stage was also observed in cultures of the fungus.

(1) A solution of dicalcium hydrogen arsenate at a strength of 0·0125 per cent. As2O5 was fungicidal to the conidial stage of Sphaerotheca Humuli, while at 0·006 per cent. As2O5 it was not quite fungicidal.(2) Lime casein containing calcium hydroxide when added as a spreader to calcium arsenate was shown to reduce the fungicidal properties of the calcium arsenate spray.(3) A solution of calcium thioarsenate at a strength equivalent to 0·006 per cent. As2O5 was fungicidal to the above fungus, while at 0·003 per cent. As2O5 it was below fungicidal strength.(4) It is suggested that the increased fungicidal properties of the mixed lime sulphur-lead arsenate spray are due to the presence of calcium thioarsenates.

The following species of Pezicula have been cultured and the genetic connection of their conidial stages has been established; Pezicula carpinea (Pers.) Tul. with the conidial stage Cryptosporiopsis fasciculata (Tode) Petr., Pezicula pruinosa Farl. with the conidial stage Sphaeronema pruinosum Peck, Pezicula Corni with the conidial stage Cryptosporiopsis cornina (Peck) Petr. and Syd., Pezicula Rubi (Lib.) Niessl with the conidial stage Discosporiella phaeosora (Sacc.) Petr., and Pezicula Hamamelidis n. sp. with the conidial stage a Cryptosporiopsis species.The form of the conidial spore is relatively constant in the different species, but the form of the conidial fruiting body is variable.

A foliage disease of Populus tacamahaca Mill., caused by a fungus that has been given the name Linospora tetraspora n. sp., is known to occur in Alberta British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec, Canada. The lesions on the leaves are of various sizes, dark brown in colour, with very irregular and diffused margins. The leaves may be completely invaded, discoloured, and dropped prematurely. Small, black, circular or irregular pseudoclypei develop on the upper surface of the infected leaves. No true conidial stage was found in the life history. Spermatia are produced in acervuli that develop in the cells of the upper epidermis during late summer and autumn. Isolations from ascospores and plantings of infected leaf tissues gave similar mycelial growth on potato dextrose agar. The pathogenicity of the fungus was demonstrated by the inoculation of healthy leaves with a suspension of ascospores. Symptoms typical of the disease developed in about a month. The fungus was re-isolated from the inoculated leaves.
