AbstractThe genera Haida Keen and Pseudohaida Hatch are revised and transferred from the tribe Coryphiini to the Anthophagini; the Palearctic genus Eudectus Redten bacher is also placed in the Anthophagini. Eudectus crassicornis LeConte is transferred to the new gents Eudectoides. Two new species are described, Haida bisulcata from the Sierra Nevada in California and H. insulcata from Oregon. Pseudohaida ingrata Hatch is transferred to Subhaida Hatch, a member of the tribe Coryphiini.The mouthparts and antenna are illustrated for each genus and the male aedeagus for each species. A key is included to aid in the identification of all the included taxa.

Sequence data (COI-5P and rbcL) for North American members of the tribe Pterosiphonieae were compared with collections from around the world. Phylogenetic analyses resolved Pterosiphonia as polyphyletic and many species required transfer to other genera. In our analyses Pterosiphonia sensu stricto included only the type species P. cloiophylla (C. Agardh) Falkenberg and P. complanata (Clemente) Falkenberg, as well as the South African species P. stegengae sp. nov. A new genus, Xiphosiphonia gen. nov., was described for X. ardreana (Maggs & Hommersand) comb. nov., X. pennata (C. Agardh) comb. nov., and X. pinnulata (Kützing) comb. nov. Some Asian, European and North American species previously attributed to Pterosiphonia were transferred to Symphyocladia including S. baileyi (Harvey) comb. nov., S. dendroidea (Montagne) comb. nov., S. plumosa nom. nov. (for P. gracilis Kylin), and S. tanakae (S. Uwai & M. Masuda) comb. nov. We also described two new North American species, Symphyocladia brevicaulis sp. nov. and S. rosea sp. nov. Other species formed a well-supported clade for which the genus name Polyostea Ruprecht was resurrected. Included in Polyostea were P. arctica (J. Agardh) comb. nov., P. bipinnata (Postels & Ruprecht) Ruprecht, P. hamata (E.S. Sinova) comb. nov., and P. robusta (N.L. Gardner) comb. nov.

The former genera Oncocnemis Lederer, Apharetra Grote, Hemistilbia Barnes and Benjamin, Adita Grote, Lepipolys Guenée, Homoncocnemis Hampson, and Homohadena Grote are synonymized under Sympistis Hübner. The following are transferred from Oxycnemis Grote to Sympistis: Sympistis franclemonti (Blanchard), comb. n. [Oxycnemis franclemonti Blanchard] and Sympistis subsimplex (Dyar) comb. n. [Oxycnemis subsimplex Dyar]. Two species are transferred to Unciella gen. n. as Unciella primula (Barnes and McDunnough) comb. n. [Oncocnemis primula Barnes and McDunnough] and Unciella flagrantis (Smith) comb. n. [Oncocnemis flagrantis Smith], which along with Leucocnemis Hampson are transferred to tribe Triocnemidini in the Psaphidinae. Supralathosea Barnes and Benjamin is transferred to Psaphidinae: Psaphidini and Catabena pronuba Barnes and McDunnough is transferred to Supralathosea comb. n.. In addition, Cerapoda Smith syn. n. and Prochloridea Barnes and McDunnough syn. n. (Prochloridea is presently in Hodges “unassociated genera”) are synonymized under Rhizagrotis Smith in the Xyleninae. Copanarta sexpunctata Barnes and McDunnough rev. comb. is transferred from Stylopoda to Copanarta. Oncocnemis simplicia Smith syn. n. is synonymized under Homohadena deserta Smith, Oncocnemis mus Troubridge and Crabo syn. n. under Oncocnemis tenuifascia Smith, and Oncocnemis sala Mustelin syn. n. under Oncocnemis aqualis Grote. The following are elevated to species rank: Sympistis deserticola (McDunnough) stat. n., comb. n. [Oncocnemis riparia deserticola McDunnough], Sympistis pallidior (Barnes) stat. n., comb. n. [Oncocnemis figurata pallidior Barnes] and Sympistis pallida (Barnes) stat. n., comb. n. [Oncocnemis homogena pallida Barnes]. The genus Limonius Eschscholtz, 1829 was last treated as a whole by Candèze (1860). Since then, members have been placed in eight other genera: Cidnopus Thomson, 1859; Gambrinus LeConte, 1853; Elathous Reitter, 1890; Kibunea Kishii, 1966; Limoniscus Reitter, 1905; Nothodes LeConte, 1861; Pheletes Kiesenwetter, 1858; and Solskyana Dolin, 1978. Based on the examination of adult and larval characters, five genera are recognized: Elathous Reitter, 1890; Gambrinus LeConte, 1853; Limonius Eschscholtz, 1829; Pheletes Kiesenwetter, 1858; and Tetralimonius new genus. Limoniscus Reitter, 1905 and Sichuanelater Platia and Gudenzi, 2006 are new synonymies of Gambrinus LeConte, 1853; Micrathous Lane, 1971, Neoathousius Schimmel and Platia, 1991 and Solskyana Dolin, 1978 are all new synonymies of Limonius. Limonius kondratieffi Al Dhafer, 2009 is a new synonymy of Elathous bicolor (LeConte, 1853). A key to genera, generic descriptions, notes on species, and definitions of important characters are provided.

Curassanthura halma n. gen., n. sp. is described from a hypersaline interstitial habitat on Curaçao, West Indies. The species may represent a stage in the invasion of hypogean fresh water by a primarily marine group.

AbstractKazachostylops occidentalis Nesov, 1987b, based on partial maxilla and dentary from the upper Paleocene Zhylga locality in South Kazakhstan, is redescribed. A new phylogenetic hypothesis of Arctostylopida is proposed based on phylogenetic analysis of 26 characters and 17 taxa. Kazachostylops is recovered as a sister taxon to the Arctostylopinae, the advanced clade of Asian and North American arctostylopids characterized by pseudohypocone on upper molars and reduced trigonid of lower molars, with the ectolophid being attached labial on the trigonid. Kazachostylops differs from more basal arctostylopids (Asiostylops, Allostylops, Bothriostylops, and Wanostylops) by higher-crowned molars, M1–3 metaconule absent, m1–3 entoconid connected with ectolophid by entolophid, and m2 wider than m1 and m3. Principal component analyses of the upper and lower dentition of arctostylopids show great distinctness of Kazachostylops from other members of the group. The arctostylopid taxa are reviewed, and the new genus Enantiostylops is erected for ‘Sinostylops’ progressus Tang and Yan, 1976 from the lower Eocene of China, because of uniquely concave parastylar area on upper molars.UUID: http://zoobank.org/a46d8f29-fd73-4e59-88dc-fcc55b12d1d3
