In a simulation study, no combination of the polychoric correlation coefficient with any LISREL 7 fitting function produced unbiased estimated standard errors or a correctly distributed chi square statistic. However, there were major differences in the performance of the five fitting functions in the analysis of ordinal data.

ObjectiveThe purpose of our study is to develop a mental workload scale for physicians in China and assess the scale’s reliability and validity.DesignThe instrument was developed over three phases involving 396 physicians from different tiers of comprehensive public hospitals in China. In the first phase, an initial item pool was developed through a systematic literature review. The second phase consisted of two rounds of Delphi expert consultations and a pilot survey. The third phase tested the reliability and validity of the instrument.SettingPublic hospitals in China.ParticipantsA total of 396 physicians from different tiers of comprehensive public hospitals in China participated in this study in 2018.Primary and secondary outcome measuresCronbach’s α, content validity index, item-total score correlation coefficient, dimension-total score correlation coefficient and indices of confirmatory factor analysis.ResultsSix dimensions (mental demands, physical demands, temporal demands, perceived risk, frustration level and performance) and 12 items were identified in the instrument. For reliability, Cronbach’s α for the whole scale was 0.81. For validity, the corrected item-content validity index of each item ranged from 0.85 to 1, item-total score correlation coefficients ranged from 0.31 to 0.75, and the correlation coefficients between the dimensions and total score ranged from 0.37 to 0.72. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis showed that the goodness-of-fit indices of the scale were satisfactory.ConclusionThe instrument showed good reliability and validity, and it is useful for diagnosing the mental workload of physicians.

The aim of this study was to determine the psychometric properties of the Persian version of pregnancy symptoms inventory. A methodological study. This study was conducted on 220 pregnant women. Construct validity was measured by exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. Reliability was measured by intra-class correlation coefficient and internal consistency. Since the items 12 (snoring) and 16 (thrush) failed to obtain the minimum principal axis factoring in exploratory factor analysis, they were removed from the Persian version. Confirmatory factor analysis showed a good fit for the extracted model. Cronbach’s alpha was .94 for the frequency items and .95 for the limitation items. Intra-class correlation coefficient was between .58 and 1 for frequency items and between .73 and 1 for limitation items. The Persian version of pregnancy symptoms inventory was a valid and reliable scale to be used for Iranian pregnant women.

Background: Care and treatment adherence are important factors for given good liver transplantation outcomes. Objectives: Design and validate an instrument to appraise adherence to care and treatment in liver transplantation recipients. Methods: A mixed-methods sequential exploratory study was conducted in two phases from 2017 to 2019, in the Liver Transplantation Clinic Tehran, Iran. In the qualitative phase, the concept of care and treatment adherence in liver transplantation recipients extracted by a conventional content analysis was performed on semi-structural interviews that were conducted on 18 liver transplantation recipients that were recruited through purposive sampling technique. Also, two physicians, one nurse coordinator of the liver transplantation team, and two family members were interviewed. The scale was developed based on operational definitions extracted from the qualitative phase. The validity was assessed by face, content, construct validity, and confirmatory factor analysis. The reliability was also evaluated by calculating test-retest intraclass correlation coefficient and Cronbach's alpha. The exploratory factor analysis was carried out with 286 filled the questionnaire. Results: Four factors were extracted in factor analysis. These factors explained 45.622% of the variance. The final version of the scale consisted of 20 items. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient reported as 0.889 for the total scale and the intraclass correlation coefficient was reported as 0.912. The confirmatory factor analysis led to a fitting model. Chi-square indices were reported as CMIN/DF = 2.34, NFI = 0.94, CFI = 0.96, and RAMSEA = 0.067. Conclusions: With a four factors structure, validity and reliability of adherence to care and treatment scale are acceptable; therefore, it can be used for appraisal care and treatment adherence in liver transplant recipients.

Purpose: To verify the reliability and validity of the Assessment of Positive Occupation 15 (APO-15) in individuals with mental disabilities living in communities or admitted in hospitals. Methods: A sample of 408 individuals with mental disabilities completed APO-15, the Japanese version of the Recovery Assessment Scale (RAS), the Japanese version of the Self-identified Stage of Recovery Part-B (SISR-B), and the General Health Questionnaire 12 (GHQ-12). We analyzed the psychometric properties of APO-15, including confirmatory factor analysis, entropy, polyserial correlation coefficient, average variance extracted, Cronbach’s α coefficient, Pearson’s product–moment correlation coefficient, item response theory, and cut-off point. Results: This study indicated the validity and reliability of APO-15 in a group of individuals with mental disabilities. The result of this study supported a four-factor model constructing of 15 items; includes a positive relationship, achievement, meaning, and engagement. Validity was supported by various results, i.e. the polyserial correlation and entropy were good, confirmatory factor analysis was a good estimate of the model fit, hypothesis testing was good convergent and discriminant validity, and concurrent validity also good. In addition, reliability was established by various analyses, i.e. the internal consistency reliability was good, and all items of APO-15 demonstrated satisfactory item response. The cut-off point became a 42-point sensitivity (0.770) and demonstrated good results with 1-specificity (0.441). That is, APO-15 can be used to appropriately measure the participation in occupation to promote the well-being of clients. Conclusion: APO-15 demonstrated good psychometric properties in measuring positive occupation in individuals with mental disabilities. APO-15 is an important tool to enable participation in activities that increase well-being in daily living.
