As a personnel policy that would assure the country's rapidly expanding railroad system the best grade of employees, centralization of discharge data within a company and interchange of such data between companies struck some executives as a useful practice. Others disagreed and, as Professor Black shows, their wisdom prevailed. The problem centered upon reliability of such key operating employees as brakemen and conductors, and responded better to institution of controls that would minimize the two most important misfeasances: drinking on the job and petty embezzlement.

The research examines the significance of human resources in the process of creating a market position of a company. The research covered 16 food industry companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2017. Using the TOPSIS method twice, the competitive position of enterprises was determined. First of all, on the basis of secondary data and the state of art, an initial ranking was established, drafted according to four features determining the competitive position of enterprises. Secondly, proper ranking was determined according to identical features and additional factors determining the company’s personnel policy. As a result, the surveyed entities were mapped to four classes and compared. The obtained results indicate that the personnel policy has a significant impact on the competitive position of enterprises from the food industry. The article presents only pilot studies. An analysis of other sectors of the economy seems to be an interesting research problem.

A firm's ability to shape its policies to meet societal demands depends on how it perceives the opportunities and risks in its environment. The authors hypothesized that corporate culture plays a significant role in shaping organizational percep-tions. This article summarizes the findings of a study on how the organizational culture of a chemical firm headquartered in West Germany affected the evolution of its social and personnel policy from 1950 to 1989 given the changes in its sociopolitical environment during this period. The study shows that the culture of a company, by shaping its perceptions, plays a central role in determining the areas in which the organization is likely to be able to learn easily and those in which it is likely to resist changing its policies.

SummaryDespite evidence from 6 major clinical trials that warfarin effectively prevents strokes in atrial fibrillation, clinicians and health care managers may remain reluctant to support anticoagulant prophylaxis because of its perceived costs. Yet, doing nothing also has a price. To assess this, we carried out a pharmacoe-conomic analysis of warfarin use in atrial fibrillation. The course of the disease, including the occurrence of cerebral and systemic emboli, intracranial and other major bleeding events, was modeled and a meta-analysis of the clinical trials and other relevant literature was carried out to estimate the required probabilities with and without warfarin use. The cost of managing each event, including acute and subsequent care, home care equipment and MD costs, was derived by estimating the cost per resource unit, the proportion consuming each resource and the volume of use. Unit costs and volumes of use were determined from established US government databases, all charges were adjusted using cost-to-charge ratios, and a 3% discount rate was applied to costs incurred beyond the first year. The proportions of patients consuming each resource were estimated by fitting a joint distribution to the clinical trial data, stroke outcome data from a recent Swedish study and aggregate ICD-9 specific, Massachusetts discharge data. If nothing is done, 3.2% more patients will suffer serious emboli annually and the expected annual cost of managing a patient will increase by DM 2,544 (1996 German Marks), from DM 4,366 to DM 6,910. Extensive multiway sensitivity analyses revealed that the higher price of doing nothing persists except for very extreme combinations of inputs unsupported by literature or clinical standards. The price of doing nothing is thus so high, both in health and economic terms, that cost-consciousness as well as clinical considerations mandate warfarin prophylaxis in atrial fibrillation.

This research aims to formulate marketing strategy to increase visitors of Gembira Loka Garden and Zoo (KRKB Gembira Loka) in Yogyakarta. This research is qualitative research and uses interview, observation, and documentation as data collection method. The data is analyzed by using SWOT analysis with internal and external variable identification. The internal variable shows that location is the main strength of Gembira Loka KRKB with 0.17 by value and 5 by rating. From external variable, the result of EFAS table shows that Gembira Loka KRKB has good enough chance while the thread has less result than the chance. Gembira Loka KRKB is in quadrant 1, which is the position in which a company is considered to be in a beneficial situation due to its chance and strength. In such case, the company can utilize the chance by maximizing the strength. The following strategy to go through in this condition is supporting aggressive planning.

PT. Duta Nichirindo Pratama is a company engaged in the field of Autoparts Manufacture. Barcode is the identity of an item / product on the package. Barcode technology has been used as the identity of goods in a production. Barcodes are used to facilitate the identification of goods produced. Paste the barcode on the packaging of packaging results at PT. Duta Nichirindo Pratama is done manually, but there are often errors attached to the barcode on a similar packaging. This research will design and create a system based on Visual Basic.Net and Arduino to select barcode attachment errors that have the potential to be sent to consumers. The system is designed using Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams, database design and interface menu design. The system created will then be tested to detect the black box test. With a computing-based design system that functions to detect barcodes on the packaging automatically, the problem of sticking barcodes on the packaging can be detected.

In an effort to improve electricity services to customers, there needs to be a balance between the supply of electricity and revenue. Payment methods made by the Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) use Postpaid and Prepaid methods. Because services with postpaid methods better meet customer satisfaction, this method is chosen. Sales Accounting Information System is an information technology-based accounting application to support financial transactions in a company to run faster, more precisely and accurately at a reasonable cost. In its operation, it takes competent human resources to not be a source of problems (human error) and adequate infrastructure. To overcome the obstacles that will arise, whether triggered by the application or by the human resources themselves, it is necessary to control both aspects. Based on this research it shows that the application  of  Sales Accounting Information Systems and existing human resources is sufficiently supportive  and  reliable  in  supporting the creation of good control as it is proven that the level of acceptance of sales targets is realized effectively and efficiently.
