The identification of the characteristics that have an influence on the vaccination coverage of children and the determination of the pattern of such influence are very important since the government can reschedule the policy to immunize each and every child. This paper examines the factors that manipulate the vaccination coverage in terms of five major vaccines using the Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS)-2007 data. The results strongly suggest that mother’s education and economic status play a vital role significantly in improving the vaccination coverage. Besides, Khulna and Rajshahi have higher whereas Sylhet and Chittagong have lower immunization coverage than Dhaka. In addition, mother’s exposure to media (newspaper, TV or radio) also improves the status of coverage both in the rural and urban areas in Bangladesh.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/dujs.v60i1.10336  Dhaka Univ. Background: Researchers in medicine and related fields in Nigeria have usually made recourse to the instrument developed by Olusanya et al and Oyedeji in the past three-and-a half decades for determination of socioeconomic status (SES). Beside the question of their age, however, these instruments were purposive and might no longer be suitable because of the changes in the parameters on which they were based.Objective: To develop a robust but generic scheme that takes into consideration the changes in the nation’s socioeconomic space in the succeeding three and a half decades.Methods: A detailed and comprehensive review of the extant schemes was undertaken with a view to identifying their inherent weaknesses. The latter were then factored into the design of a new scheme taking into consideration the emergent restructuring of career positions in the civil/public service as well as the place of private and informal sectors of the economy. The new scheme was validated at the University of Beninand Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospitals.Results: The new scheme had a remarkably high Inter-rater reliability (r = 0.947, p<0.001), raterre- rater reliability (r = 0.984, p <0.001) and % agreement (with modified Oyedeji’s tool as standard) of 67% (K coefficient = 0.47, r = 0.71, p<0.001)Conclusion/Recommendation: The new scheme could be a viable tool for the assessment of SES of families and individuals, which not only takes into consideration current realities of the nation’s economy, but also is readily adaptable to meet foreseeable changes.

Ukraine has a relative drawback in the economic defense capabilities, which needs to be addressed by raising the indicators of macroeconomic development, innovation, and economic potential, social health of the population of the state, and the support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, by the state. The estimation of the defense capability of states like Ukraine, Poland, Russia and Turkey is made on the basis of the developed methodological approach to the overall representation of the health of the economies of the states and their defense capabilities using the method of constructing petal diagrams with the definition of their effective areas, which became indicators of economic status and defense capability. The article analyses the dependence of the development level of the countries’ economies and the state of development of the armed forces of these countries in the conditions of resource constraints and existing risks on the basis of macroeconomic data and indicators. This article uses the indicators for the determination of the level of defense capability and the data of petal diagrams and the scenario modeling of the development strategies of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the aim of constructing the most optimal forecast in this area.

In this paper we tried to analyze some aspects of fiscal policy in our country, without pretending to give our own sample. Fiscal policy is the use of government expenditures and taxes which affect economic activity. Determination of fiscal policy in a given year takes into account the time virtually the past (current socio-economic status) and the implications for the future (fiscal sustainability).In general the cases dealt the role fiscal policy plays toward economic growth. The analysis many focused both in the theoretical treatment as well as the role that fiscal policy has played in our country, going even further in some suggestions for the future. The most important issue was addressed in the long-term fiscal policy view, fiscal sustainability. In the final everything is addressed to the role of fiscal policy on social issues.The role that fiscal policy should play in economic and social development has long been a controversial issue and is still different among economists. While a restrictive fiscal policy means increasing taxes and cut government spending. Fiscal policy may be expansionary or restrictive. An expansionary fiscal policy means a reduction of direct and indirect taxes and increased government expenditures. Choose between two types of fiscal policy is not an easy decision, both in terms of the current state of the economy, as well as political decisions.

The aim of the research is summing up and improving theoretical and methodical approaches to determination of financial sustainability of agricultural enterprises. World and national experience of financial sustainability determination of entrepreneurial activities subjects were analyzed and summarized as well as system impact factors on formation of financial sustainability on the regional level and the group of agricultural enterprises level were examined. There are considerable formation specifics of the financial sustainability mechanism of agricultural enterprises. It means that main target of mechanism to ensure financial sustainability is to achieve financial security, their work stability and development today and in future. The method offers using complex of indicators that are closely connected with each other and define economic status and financial ability to continue enterprise activities and examine financial sustainability of an enterprise. The implementation of this approach to determine financial sustainability will increase the information background for further analyzation of financial opportunities.

Serbian agricultural producers are currently facing a large number of challenges which have a significant influence on their business activities. Continuous monitoring and evaluation of existing family farms business activities is the only way to improve their profitability and enhance competitiveness in such conditions. Bearing this in mind, the objective of this research is to emphasize an importance of the economic analysis of wheat production on family farms and to contribute successfully to the formulation of the answers to questions if and under which conditions the wheat production is profitable. In order to have a complete insight into investigated problem subject, investigations were carried out on selected family farms. Collected data were processed using calculation procedure for the purpose of determination of main economical indicators of the success of wheat production. Based on realized financial results it can be concluded that with the selling price of 10,000.00 diners per ton, only family farms which have achieved yield of over 7.5 t/ha with adequate level of investments are profitable. Since realized average yield of wheat on family farms in the Republic of Serbia in 2009 was 3.58 t/ha and level of investment necessary for realization of this yield, it is clear that the majority of family farms had loss in wheat production. The results of this study suggest that the economic status of the wheat production depends on the yield and achieved sales price, as well as on the amount of applied production factors and price level for their purchasing.

People’S Perceptions

People's perceptions of hygiene and sanitation appear to differ by community. Often, these perceptions do not contribute to improving the living conditions of the populations concerned. The study aims to improve hygiene and sanitation intervention strategies by better controlling people's perceptions and behaviors. The aim is to assess the knowledge, attitudes and practices of populations according to gender as well as the perceptions of urban and rural populations in terms of hygiene and sanitation. Qualitative and quantitative approaches were used. Direct observation, individual interviews, focus groups and household survey are the main techniques used. Six (6) towns and six (6) villages in Côte d'Ivoire have been selected. The results demonstrate the similarity of perceptions and behaviors related to hygiene and sanitation. However, there is a variety of designations of their material and immaterial components. It does not reflect a variation of perceptions and behaviors, which would be linked to their original cultural substratum, but the differential effort of local populations in the context of adaptation to an existential environment. If cultural references do not support the hypothesis that "the perceptions and behaviors that people have in terms of hygiene and sanitation are determined by their cultural values, their socio-economic status and space in which they evolve ", the relations of the gender (women, men, children, notability, etc.) play a preponderant role in the determination of the perceptions and the behaviors for the improvement of the frameworks of life.
