RÉSUMÉCette recherche porte sur l'évaluation d'un modèle de mèdiation du conflit entre travail et famille parmi des employés responsables de soins administrés à des parents plus âgés. Lors d'une étude effectuée auprès d'employés de huit organismes différents, 396 femmes et 316 hommes ont rempli des questionnaires mesurant leur participation aux soins des aînés, le degré de conflit entre les responsabilités familiales et le travail (RFT), le degré de conflit entre la famille et le travail (CFT), la satisfaction professionnelle, les coûts de travail (par ex., réunions ratées) et l'absentéisme. L'étude démontre qu'il existe un lien significatif entre la participation aux soins des aînés et les RFT chez les femmes mais pas les hommes. Chez les femmes, les RFT sont reliées à l'insatisfaction professionnelle et à l'absentéisme; chez les hommes, elles sont reliées aux coûts de travail et à l'absentéisme. Le CFT n'est pas relié aux soins des aînés mais est associé à aux RFT et aux coûts de travail aussi bien chez les femmes que chez les hommes. Il est également relié à la satisfaction professionnelle chez les hommes. Les résultats de la présente étude suggèrent que la responsabilité des soins aux aînés influence indirectement la vie professionnelle en créant un conflit entre la famille et travail.

Abstract. Playing video games during adolescence has been linked to both positive and negative outcomes, but it remains unclear which specific aspects of gaming behavior are associated with adjustment. The current study examines the association between distinct aspects of video game play behavior and adolescent adjustment. We focused on five aspects, namely, gaming frequency, the social context, gamer identification, type of game, and motivation for playing. Participants included 705 Dutch adolescents (33.5% female, Mage = 14.07), who completed a survey including self-report and sociometric measures. Results indicated that the frequency of playing games was not associated with adolescent adjustment. However, significant associations did appear for social context, genre of games, and motivation for playing. In addition, the different aspects of gaming showed both beneficial and deleterious relations with adjustment. This research indicates the importance of disaggregating gaming behavior and the necessity to look beyond frequency of play in order to fully understand the impact of gaming on youth.

The notion of attachment has been defined in different ways, but something which is identical in all definitions is that attachment is an essential ingredient for normal Human Development. From a developmental perspective, attachment theory has served as an important framework in understanding relationships throughout the lifespan. Attachment theory explains how individuals cope with conflict and assume various interpretations from the behaviors of others. From the experiences of early attachment relationships with a primary caregiver, the internal working model (IWM) becomes a mental representation of expectations and beliefs about the self in relation to others. The parent-child relationship serves as a prototype for future relationships of the child. It is this first relationship that the child uses as a template to apply to future relationship experiences. In short, the qualities of early relationships predict later relationships, and success in later relation-ships takes root in lifespan development. The present article provides a brief synopsis of the changes that occur during adolescence and describes what attachment is, why it continues to be important and how it is transformed during adolescence. It summarizes major findings on the impact of attachment on adolescent adjustment and discusses strategies for supporting healthy adolescent-parent attachment and also describes the secure and insecure attachments, patterns during adolescence towards parents and impact on their social & Psychological adjustment.
