In order to obtain the flame retardant silk fabric, silica sols and phytic acid were prepared and applied to the silk fabrics. Vertical combustion experiment, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectra and smoke density test were used to investigate the combustion behavior, thermal property, and kinetics model of silk fabrics before and after flame retardant finish. The results showed that the sol coating on silk fabrics could increase the carbon residue and hinder the spread of flame when burning, and the tensile strength of treated silk was slightly damaged. Furthermore, the kinetics model of silk thermal decomposition conformed to Avrami-Erofeev model.

The thermal decomposition kinetics of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and flame-retardant PBT (FR-PBT) were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis at various heating rates. The kinetic parameters were determined by using Kissinger, Flynn-Wall-Ozawa and Friedman methods. The y (α) and z (α) master plots were used to identify the thermal decomposition model. The results show that the rate of residual carbon of FR-PBT is higher than that of PBT and the maximum mass loss rate of FR-PBT is lower than that of PBT. The values of activation energy of PBT (208.71 kJ/mol) and FR-PBT (244.78 kJ/mol) calculated by Kissinger method were higher than those of PBT (PBT: 195.54 kJ/mol) and FR-PBT (FR-PBT: 196.00 kJ/mol) calculated by Flynn-Wall-Ozawa method and those of PBT and FR-PBT (PBT: 199.10 kJ/mol, FR-PBT: 206.03 kJ/mol) calculated by Friedman methods. There is a common thing that the values of activation energy of FR-PBT are higher than that of PBT in different methods. The thermal decomposition reaction models of the PBT and FR-PBT can be described by Avarami-Erofeyev model (A1).

Flame-retardant polyurethane elastomers (PUEs) have been prepared using trichloroethyl phosphate (TCEP) as flame retardant. The combustion performances and thermal decomposition properties of PUEs were studied using cone calorimetry test and thermogravimetric analysis, respectively. Kissinger method and Flynn–Wall–Ozawa (FWO) method were adopted to discuss the pyrolysis kinetics of PUEs. The experimental results showed that TCEP has good flame-retardant effect for PUE. With the increase of TCEP, the peak heat release rate and total heat release values decrease. A good diagram of linear regression can be obtained from both Kissinger and FWO methods. The activation energy values of flam- retardant PUE can be calculated from FWO method at different conversion rates.

The kinetics of the thermal decomposition of Huadian oil shale was studied at five different isothermal atmospheres of 623K, 648K, 673K, 698K, and 723K. The temperature recorded was that of the sample that the temperature error between furnace and sample will eliminate. According to conversion data, the effect of increased temperature is to decrease the pyrolysis time. The conversion data described the oil shale pyrolysis as two stages, rapid conversion and modest conversion. The Arrhenius equations of ki=1.40×105e-109828/RT and kii=1.76×106e-130463/RT were obtain by isothermal kinetics model for each stage.

This paper study the migration characteristics and degradation kinetics of bisphenol A using TGA - gas chromatography - mass spectrometry and found that bisphenol A polycarbonate in the thermal oxidative aging conditions of 130 °C de-gradated to bisphenol A. At the range of 0 h to 120 h, the bisphenol A content of environmental hormones increased with time. When it reached 120 h, bisphenol A environmental hormone content decreased slightly with aging time. The content of bisphenol A reached 495mg/kg when the thermal oxidative aging time was 168 h, which was decreased compared to the content of 442mg/kg at 120 h. Polycarbonate thermal decomposition kinetics study showed that the thermal decomposition of polycarbonate can be divided into three phases. The first thermal decomposition occurred at the range of 415° C to 425 ° C, the polycarbonate end groups fracture of the second stage at 493.6°C , the main fracture of the main chain rearrangement and crosslinking, and the third stage at 598.7°C, the degradation of the chain continues to decompose and the decomposition of the crosslinked carbon precursor; thermal oxidation aging of polycarbonate decreased the heat stability and promote the thermal decomposition of polycarbonate. Comparing the oxidation induction period, thermal weight loss rate and activation energy of polycarbonate before and after thermal oxidative aging, it c found that the thermal stability of the hot oxygen aging of polycarbonate is reduced.

The study is aimed at investigating the thermal behavior and decomposition kinetics of torrefied oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB) briquettes using a thermogravimetric (TG) analysis and the Coats-Redfern model. The results revealed that thermal decomposition kinetics of OPEFB and torrefied OPEFB briquettes is significantly influenced by the severity of torrefaction temperature. Furthermore, the temperature profile characteristics; Tonset, Tpeak, and Tend increased consistently due to the thermal lag observed during TG analysis. In addition, the torrefied OPEFB briquettes were observed to possess superior thermal and kinetic properties over the untorrefied OPEFB briquettes. It can be inferred that torrefaction improves the fuel properties of pelletized OPEFB for potential utilization in bioenergy conversion systems.

Glyphosate (GP) is a widely used herbicide worldwide, yet accumulation of GP and its main byproduct, aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA), in soil and water has raised concerns about its potential effects to human health. Thermal treatment processes are one option for decontaminating material containing GP and AMPA, yet the thermal decomposition chemistry of these compounds remains poorly understood. Here, we have revealed the thermal decomposition mechanism of GP and AMPA by applying computational chemistry and reaction rate theory methods. <br>
