The purpose of this paper is to study the effects of nanoparticles on mixed convection flow of power law fluid. The shear thinning fluid is considered as base fluid. The nanoparticles of copper for nanofluid are taken into account. To analysis the flow and temperature behavior, various mass concentrations of polyvinyl alcohol in water, different sizes and concentrations of nanoparticles are used. The effects of nanoparticle concentrations on shear stress, heat flux and thermal resistance are also presented.

A numerical solution has been presented for free convection flow of power law fluid in a vertical cylinder of finite height. The average velocity along the channel and the heat transfer have been calculated. Graphs of velocities and temperature are shown. The results show good agreement with analytic one in the asymptotic case.

The effect of non-Newtonian biomagnetic power-law fluid in a channel undergoing external localised magnetic fields is investigated. The governing equations are derived by considering both effects of Ferrohydrodynamics (FHD) and Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). These governing equations are difficult to solve due to the inclusion of source term from magnetic equation and the nonlinearity of the power-law model. Numerical scheme of Constrained Interpolation Profile (CIP) is developed to solve the governing equations numerically. Extensive results carried out show that this method is efficient on studying the biomagnetic and non-Newtonian power-law flow. New results show that the inclusion of power-law model affects the vortex formation, skin friction and heat transfer parameter significantly. Regardless of the power-law index, the vortex formation length increases when Magnetic number increases. The effect of this vortex however decreases with the inclusion of power-law where in the shear thinning case, the arising vortex is more pronounced than in the shear thickening case. Furthermore, increasing of power-law index from shear thinning to shear thickening, decreases the wall shear stress and heat transfer parameters. However for high Magnetic number, the wall shear stress and heat transfer parameters increase especially near the location of the magnetic source. The results can be used as a guide on assessing the potential effects of radiofrequency fields (RF) from electromagnetic fields (EMF) exposure on blood vessel.

The current investigation analyzes the effects of partial slip and heat generation on the mixed convection flow with heat transfer in an inclined double lid-driven square cavity containing centered square adiabatic obstacle in the presence of magnetic field. The used cavity is subjected to constant heat flux and filled with Cu-water nanofluid. The top and bottom horizontal walls are thermally insulated and move with uniform velocity while the right vertical wall is maintained at a constant low temperature. A uniform heat flux is located in a part of th left wall of the cavity while the remaining part of this wall is thermally insulated. Finite volume technique is utilized to solve dimensionless governing equations of the problem. The proposed method is validated with the previous published numerical studies which distinctly offer a good agreement. The obtained results show that changing in the heat source length affects much the flow and thermal fields than the position of heat source. The averag Nusselt number decreases when the aspect ratio of the obstacle and heat source length increases. The heat transfer rate behaves nonlinearly with inclination of the cavity.

The problem of a magneto-hydro dynamic flow and heat transfer to a non-Newtonian power-law fluid flow past a continuously moving flat porous plate in the presence of sucion/injection with heat flux by taking into consideration the viscous dissipation is analysed. The non-linear partial differential equations governing the flow and heat transfer are transformed into non-linear ordinary differential equations using appropriate transformations and then solved numerically by an implicit finite difference scheme. The solution is found to be dependent on various governing parameters including the magnetic field parameter M, power-law index n, suction/injection parameter ƒw, Prandtl number Pr and Eckert number Ec. A systematical study is carried out to illustrate the effects of these major parameters on the velocity profiles, temperature profile, skin friction coefficient and rate of heat transfer and the local Nusslet number.
