Barium titanate is the first ferroelectric ceramics and a good candidate for a variety of applications due to its excellent dielectric, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties. Barium titanate is a member of a large family of compounds with the general formula ABO3 called perovskites. Barium titanate can be prepared using different methods. The synthesis method depends on the desired characteristics for the end application. The used method has a significant influence on the structure and properties of barium titanate materials. In this review paper, Part I contains a study of the BaTiO3 structure and frequently used synthesis methods.

Zr-doped Sr2Bi4Ti5O18 (SBTi) bismuth layer-structured ferroelectric ceramics were prepared and studied. XRD patterns revealed that all the ceramic samples were single phase compounds. SEM images showed that dense microstructures with uniform gain size were obtained in all samples. The effects of Zr4+ doping on the dielectric, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of SBTi ceramics were also investigated. It was found that Zr4+ dopant gradually decreased the Curie temperature (Tc), enhanced the remnant polarization (2Pr) and decreased the coercive field (Ec) of SBTi ceramics. Furthermore, the piezoelectric properties of the SBTi ceramics were improved by enlarging the content of Zr. The SBTi ceramics with 4 mol% of Zr4+ dopant exhibited good electrical properties: d33 = 21 pC/N, 2Pr = 14.3 μC/cm2, Tc = 251°C, εr = 376, tanδ = 1.8%.

Background: The Fe3O4 nanoparticles have been highly regarded in recent years due to their unique properties and different applications. Magnetic separation capability of Fe3O4 nanoparticles provides an environmentally friendly procedure for the synthesis of this nanoparticle and its derivatives. Objective: There are many methods for synthesizing magnetic nanoparticles, and the properties of these nanoparticles are largely dependent on their synthesis method. Magnetite has many applications in various fields, one of the most important of which is the application of electrochemical sensors. These nanoparticles attached to the surface of different electrodes and used for the sensitive and selective electrochemical determination of trace amounts of several combinations. In this review paper, recently suggested synthesis methods of Fe3O4 and its derivatives and their electrochemical application are discussed.

The family of bismuth titanate, Bi4Ti3O12 (BIT) layered-structured ferroelectrics materials is attractive from the viewpoint of their application as electronic materials such as dielectrics, piezoelectrics and pyroelectrics, because they are characterized by good stability of piezoelectric properties, a high Curie temperature and a good resistance vs temperature. Bismuth titanate (Bi4Ti3O12) powders can be prepared using different methods, depending if the creation will be film coating or ceramics. The structure and properties of bismuth titanate materials show a significance dependence on the applied synthesis method. In this review paper, we made an attempt to give an approach to analyzing the structure, synthesis methods and properties of bismuth titanate ferroelectrics materials. .

The purpose of this review is to highlight the role of ZnO and TiO2 NPs as textile protective agents against UV radiation. Different synthesis method of ZnO and TiO2 NPs affecting their nano size and their ability to absorb UV radiation. Resulted ZnO or TiO2 NPs can be applied on treated or untreated fabrics individually to provide UV protection or in combination with other materials to provide multifunctional finished fabrics. Cons and Pros of each application process besides comparison of synthesis methods of ZnO and TiO2 NPs are included separately in this review paper.
