Using a criterion proposed by Salpeter and standard solid-state physics, we have determined the Debye temperature of a solid in equilibrium with the electron gas surrounding it. The results obtained can have astrophysical applications in the determination of parameters of interstellar and interplanetary clouds.

One of the key obstacles in the progress of certain aspects of solid-state physics is the determination of the nature of irregularities in the atomic network of matter and their correlation with macroscopic properties. In this work, an original structural result is presented, namely the presence of icosahedral clusters in an Al solid solution, as deduced from the analysis of the total Fourier-space image. This work has led to the belief that these non-crystalline clusters create a fundamental irregularity in the network of a non-ideal solid solution.

Adsorption by thermochemically exfoliated graphite (TEG) is studied and compared with that by other carbon structures under the same conditions. In BET determination of the specific surface area (SBET) for the TEG samples it was found that good approximation could be observed in two different pressure ranges. Such ranges of BET approximation are also visible in the isotherms of aquadag and milled graphite. The experimental results are discussed and their interpretation proposed
