In this study Ajzen' theory (1991) of planned behavior was used to predict job - seek intention and behavior among unemployed people (N = 650). In addition to theory of planned behavior variables (job - seek attitude, subjective norm, self - efficacy and controllability of job seek process) we used several other psychological (financial pressure, self - mastery, self - esteem and depression) and demographic (gender, age, education, marriage and lent of unemployment) variables to build a model of predictors for both criterion variables. Financial pressure, intention to seek employment, job seek - self - efficacy, job - seek controllability, marriage and job - seek attitude predicted job - seeking behavior, while attitude toward job - seeking, subjective norm, job - seek self - efficacy and financial pressure predicted job seek - intention. Results are discussed in light of theory of planned behavior, current research of job - seeking behavior and recommendations are made for practice.

Background: Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) is a social pshycological theory which explained that someone's tendency to behave is affected by their intention. This theory often used to predict behavioral intention in health workers by measuring some aspects such as attitude, subjective norm and self efficacy. As a prospective health worker who equipped with knowledge and skills about Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) during education phase, nursing students are expected to have a good intentions to become bystander CPR in Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCA). Aims: This study intends to apply TPB in identifying factors that influence nursing student’s intention to perform bystander CPR. Methods: This was a quantitative study with cross-sectional approach. The research population were undergraduate nursing student in Malang, while the 108 samples were taken using proportional sampling technique. Data were collected once using questionnaire included: attitude, subjective norm, self efficacy and intention to be a bystander CPR. Results: Chi-square test revealed that the relationship between independent variables and intention to be a bystander CPR were:  attitude p=0,00, self efficacy p=0,00 and subjective norm p=0,00.  The result of multivariate analysis with logistic regression showed that: attitude p=0,004 (OR=5,279), subjective norm p=0,001 (OR=5,824) and self efficacy p=0,001 (OR=5,709).  Conclusion: There were significant relationship between attitude, subjective norm and self efficacy with intention, where subjective norm was the most dominant factor associated with intention of nursing student to be a bystander CPR.

This study aims to determine the accounting knowledge sharing behavior at accounting lecturer in Bengkulu city, using the model theory of planned behavior influenced by three factor is attitude toward behavior, subjective norm, and perceived behavior control. Attitude toward behavior is influenced by factor self efficacy, social network, and extrinsic reward. While subjective norm is influenced by organization support. The population in this study were all accounting lecturer who worked in public and private universities in the city of Bengkulu using purposive sampling technique, so that the total sample of 62 people and data that can be used in this study were 43 respondents. Analysis technique using the assistance program smartPLS version 3 2.3. The results showed that self efficacy has positive affect on attitude toward behavior, social network has positive affect on attitude toward behavior, extrinsic reward has positive affect on attitude toward behavior, organizational support has positive affect on subjective norm, attitude toward behavior has positive affect on the accounting knowledege sharing behavior, subjective norm has positive affect on the accounting knowledege sharing behavior, and perceived behavior control has positive affect on the accounting knowledege sharing behavior.

The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, gender and self-efficacy towards college students’ intention to practice online business in Surabaya. Theory of planned behavior is used to analyze student intention to become an entrepreneur through e-commerce especially online shop platform, thus becoming solution to decrease unemployment rate in Indonesia and furthermore increasing the economy of Indonesia in general. This research uses primary data resources which collected directly by distributing questionnaires to 114 respondents. The respondents are college students that use e-commerce application at least once a month. The findings of this study are attitude has a negative effect towards student’s intention to practice online business, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control have a positive effect towards student’s intention to practice online business. Self-efficacy could not moderate the effect of attitude on student’s intention to practice online business. Female college students have a higher intention to practice online business compared to male college students.

Childhood obesity and caries are linked to sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) and excessive juice consumption. We assessed psychosocial factors influencing children’s beverage consumption and strategies to promote healthier choices. Using a quantitative and qualitative approach guided by the theory of planned behavior, we surveyed and interviewed 37 parents of preschool-aged children on barriers and facilitators of children’s beverage consumption. Most children (83.8%) consumed SSBs, 67.6% drank >4 to 6 oz of juice per day. Parent’s self-efficacy was the strongest correlate of parent’s behavioral intention to limit SSB (0.72, standard error 0.08, P = .03). Parents’ motivations to limit their child’s SSB intake extended beyond simply preventing caries and obesity; they also considered the implications of these conditions on children’s self-image, future health, and quality of life. Yet, the influence of multidimensional barriers made it difficult to reduce children’s SSB consumption. Interventions that address parental attitudes, values, and self-efficacy to address external factors could help reduce children’s SSB consumption.

Marketing campaigns of organic food emphasize utilitarian benefits and psychological benefits as well as consumer culture to enhance environmental sustainability. In order to study the purchase intention of organic food, the authors developed a model using antecedents like warm glow, subjective norm, attitude and perceived behavioral control. This study examines the model for the Indian and the USA samples and thus integrated using three theories: Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), Pro-Social Behavior (PSB) Theory with the interaction of Consumer Culture Theory. The model is estimated using the multi-group Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique using R software with samples from India (n = 692) and the USA (n = 640). Results differ for Indian and USA samples. The expectation of the “warm glow” resulted from an environmentally friendly purchase as having a higher influence on Indian samples than that of the USA. Further, the attitude towards organic food purchase intention is stronger for US samples than the Indian, and the group difference is significant, while all the relationships that take warm glow as an antecedent have higher β for Indian samples. Moreover, the study found that attitude towards organic food is a major element for US subsamples, whereas subjective norm plays a major role in Indian samples to adopt organic food. Managerially, the present study suggests that a firm marketing its organic food must concentrate more on “warm glow” for Indian consumers in order to improve their market share.

BACKGROUND: Self-efficacy is a key psychosocial factor influencing the outcome of vocational rehabilitation programs. There is lack of a validated job-seeking self-efficacy measure for Chinese persons with disabilities. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to validate the Chinese version of the Job-Seeking Self-Efficacy Scale (C-JSS) developed by Barlow, Wright, and Cullen (2002) and to examine its psychometric properties using a Chinese sample of persons with disabilities. METHODS: JSS was first translated into Chinese and reviewed by vocational rehabilitation practitioners and persons with disabilities. Ninety-seven Chinese participants with disabilities were recruited to fill in the questionnaire of JSS and other questions. The internal consistency, structural and coverage validities of C-JSS were evaluated. RESULTS: C-JSS showed a high internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.95) and unidimensional factorial structure. For concurrent validity, there were significant correlations between C-JSS with the score of WHODAS 2.0 (p = 0.001), educational level (p <  0.001), job-seeking behavior (p = 0.031), and self-reported professional skills (p = 0.008). CONCLUSION: The results of this study provide preliminary evidence that C-JSS is a reliable and valid instrument to measure the self-efficacy of job-seeking behavior among a Chinese sample of persons with disabilities.

PurposeThis paper builds on and extends the theory of planned behavior (TPB) by examining empirically the underlying mechanism through which red tape is associated with employee change-supportive intention (CSI). It investigates red tape as an antecedent of CSI and examines the mediation role of change-related attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control (PBC) in the relationship between red tape and CSI.Design/methodology/approachTo test the study's hypotheses, cross-sectional data were collected from 183 employees working at a public organization in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq that was going through a major change. Regression analyses and the PROCESS macro for SPSS were used.FindingsConsistent with our expectations, the results indicate that red tape negatively predicts CSI. Red tape also predicts change-related attitude, subjective norm and PBC, which consequently predict CSI. The results also reveal that the relationship between red tape and CSI is mediated by change-related attitude and subjective norm.Research limitations/implicationsThe study is limited in using cross-sectional data at a point in time and in investigating intention only, rather than actual behavior.Originality/valueWhile prior work shows that red tape is a relevant factor that may affect employee responses to change in public sector, the psychological processes on which this relationship is based are still not fully explained. Therefore, this is the first study that aims to shed some light on this relationship.


Halal transportation services is one of the crucial components of producing Halal products. Since Halal is unique and involves elaborate regulations and executions, therefore it requires huge investment. Like any other supply chain, the transportation cost will be transferred to the end users, normally the customers, thus increasing the price of final products. It is notably common to find studies done on Muslim customers and their preference on Halal products, however, studies on Muslims preferences towards Halal transportation could still be considered as novel. By adopting the Theory of Planned Behavior and religiosity; and by taking into account the moderating effect of knowledge, this study aims to identify the factors that lead to the customers’ willingness to pay for the Halal transportation cost. Using a purposive sampling method, the data was collected among Muslim consumers in a prominent shopping complex in Malaysia and was analyzed using Smart Partial Least Squares (PLS). Based on the finding, it is shown that the attitude and perceived behavioral control gave a positive relationship with the willingness to pay for Halal transportation. Meanwhile, subjective norm and religiosity were on the opposite as there were both hold an insignificant effect towards the willingness to pay for the Halal transportation. Knowledge has moderated the relationship between attitude and willingness to pay for Halal transportation, but not for the relationship between subjective norm and perceived behavioral control. It is expected that this study could provide a better understanding of Muslim consumers’ behavior on purchasing for Halal transportation, as well as other Halal supply chain activities.

A large number of muslim population in Indonesia have an impact on the development of muslim fashion in Indonesia and led to the emergence of muslim communities such as Hijabers Surabaya community. Hijabers Surabaya community also linked himself with sharia, such as cooperation with the islamic banking in which all community members will get free sharia account when joining the community.This research focuses on the behavior and attitude of community members towards the use of sharia account by using the theory of planned behavior perspective. This study used Structural Equation Model. Total participants in this study amounted to 150 members. The results obtained in this study is: (1) Behavior belief affect the attitude toward behavior. (2) Normative belief not effect the subjective norm. (3) Motivation to comply not effect the subjective norm. (4) Control belief affect the perceived behavioral control. (5) Attitude toward behavior affect the intention to use. (6) Subjective norm not affect the intention to use. (7) Perceived behavioral control not affect to the intention to use.
