The new 1D-coordination polymer of CuII ion, {(2- apymH)2[Cu(pyzdc)2] .6H2O}n, (2-apym = 2-aminopyrimidine, pyzdcH2 = 1,4- pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid), was synthesized based on proton transfer mechanism and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The coordination polymer consists of infinite anionic chains of [Cu(pyzdc)2]2- anion bridged crossing double chain running along a-axis and discrete (2-apymH)+ fragment. The CuII ion is located on inversion centre in the basal plane of an elongated octahedron and two oxygen atoms from adjacent (pyzdc)2-ligands occupy axial position. The interaction between oxygen atoms of water molecules along with the dicarboxylic acid play an important role in the overall supramolecular assembly.

Abstract 2-Hydroxy-5-methoxyphenylphosphonic acid (H3L1) and the complex [Cu(H2L1)2(H2O)2] were synthesized and characterized by IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetry, and X-ray diffraction analysis. The polyhedron of the copper atom is an axially elongated square bipyramid with oxygen atoms of phenolic and of monodeprotonated phosphonic groups at the base and oxygen atoms of water molecules at the vertices. The protonation constants of the H3L1 acid and the stability constants of its Cu2+ complexes in water were determined by potentiometric titration. The protonation constants of the acid in water are significantly influenced by the intramolecular hydrogen bond and the methoxy group. The H3L1 acid forms complexes CuL‒ and CuL24‒ with Cu2+ in water.

The single pyrazine-bridged polymeric complex {[Ni(pyz)(H2O)4](NO3)2.2H2O}n has been synthesised and characterised by elemental analyses, IR and UV-vis spectra, and a single-crystal X-ray diffraction study. The coordination around the Ni centre is perfectly octahedral. The Ni(H2O)4 coordination planes are bridged by pyrazine ligands forming an infinite chain structure. Two nitrate anions and two water molecules exist in the lattice and are linked by intermolecular hydrogen bonds to the coordinated water molecules.

Reaction of a methanolic copper(II) acetate solution with tetrazolyl enol derivatives 2a or 2b leads to the formation of the corresponding lD-coordination polymer 1∞[CuL2] 3a and pseudo 1D-coordination polymer [CuL2]2 3b, respectively. On the contrary, reaction of 2c with methanolic copper(II) acetate solution yields OH-bridged 1D-coordination polymer 1∞[CuL2(MeOH)2 3c. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction of the supramolecular species 3 established unequivocally the structures of the stairlike coordination compounds. Reaction of a methanolic copper(II) acetate solution with amidotetrazole derivative 6 leads to the formation of the lD-coordination polymer 1∞ [CuL2] 7. The structure of 7 has been established by X-ray structure analysis

In this study, two new coordination polymers of Cu(II) and Cd(II) ions with pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid and 1-vinylimidazole were synthesized. The structures of these coordination polymers were characterized with elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, thermal analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, and magnetic susceptibility techniques. According to the results of the thermal analysis, the coordination polymers that contained water molecules decomposed below 100 °C, and the final products for both coordination polymers were the related metal oxides in an oxygen atmosphere. Powder X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the coordination polymers were in the crystalline form. The hydrogen storage capacities and surface areas of the coordination polymers were also determined. The highest hydrogen storage capacities were measured as 296 ml/g for the Cu(II) coordination polymer and 330 ml/g for the Cd(II) coordination polymer at approximately 75 bar and 75 K.

The title compound, [Sr7(C7H3NO4)6(SO4)(H2O)6]n, has been synthesized by an ionothermal method using the ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium ([Emim]Br) as solvent, and characterized by elemental analysis, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, IR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure of the compound can be viewed as a three-dimensional coordination polymer composed of Sr2+cations, pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate anions, sulfate anions and water molecules. The compound not only exhibits a three-dimensional structure with a unique coordination mode of the sulfate anion, but also features the first example of a heptanuclear strontium(II) coordination polymer. The structure is further stabilized by O—H...O hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking interactions.

The alkaline earth tricyanomethanides Mg(tcm)2 · 2H2O, Ca(tcm)2, Sr(tcm)2 ・H2O and Ba(tcm)2 · 2H2O were prepared from aqueous solutions of the respective chlorides and silver tricyanomethanide. Their IR spectra and thermal behavior are described. The crystal structures of Ca(tcm)2 and Ba(tcm)2 · 2H2O were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure of Ca(tcm)2 is of the type found for several transition metal tricyanomethanides [1], containing two independent interpenetrating networks. Ba(tcm)2 · 2H2O has a unique crystal structure corresponding to a three-dimensional coordination polymer with nine fold coordinated Ba atoms connected by water molecules and tricyanomethanide anions.

New crystalline coordination networks based on Ag(i) and N-bridging ligands — pyrazine (pyz), 4,4′-bipyridine (bpy), and 2,3-bis-(2-pyridyl)pyrazine (bppz) — incorporating carborane monoanions (CB11H12)− or [Co(C2B9H11)2]− were isolated and characterized using single crystal X-ray diffraction, microanalysis, and infrared spectroscopy. All the complexes with the bpy and bppz ligands reveal 1D coordination infinite chains involving the Ag(i) and the ligands, and layered extended structures with rows of carborane anions between the layers of chains. Interestingly, two polymorphs of the complex [Ag(bpy)(CH3CN)][Co(C2B9H11)2] were observed. The complex [Ag(pyz)(CH3CN)2][Co(C2B9H11)2] shows a 1D coordination polymer, while the pyz complex with the smaller carborane anion {[Ag(pyz)](CB11H12)} exhibits a 3D coordination network structure with four Ag···H−B interactions between the silver centre and carborane anions.

AbstractMicrowave-assisted hydrothermal reaction of 2-fluoro-3,5,6-tri(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-1,4-benzenedicarbonitrile (L1) with silver(I) nitrate yields a coordination polymer [Ag3(L2)2(NO3)]n (1), in which the L2 ligand (HL2 = 2-hydroxy-3,5,6-tri(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)terephthalonitrile) is obtained by in situ ligand transformation from the L1 precursor. HL2 monohydrate has also been isolated by the microwave-mediated hydrolysis of L1 and structurally characterized. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals that HL2 monohydrate comprises a zwitterionic HL2 moiety, while complex 1 displays an infinite L2-bridged double-chain structure. Given that the HL2 molecule has a large conjugated π system, complex 1 exhibits strong blue luminescence in the solid state at room temperature.

SummaryThe crystal structures of sjögrenite and pyroaurite, two stacking modifications of approximate composition Mg6Fe2(OH)16(CO3).4H2O, have been determined by X-ray diffraction using three-dimensional methods. Sjögrenite is hexagonal, with a 3·13, c 15·66 Å, space group P63/mmc , Z = ¼; pyroaurite is rhombohedral, with aH 3·13, cH 23·49 Å, space group R3̄m or R3m, Z = ⅜. Both structures are based on brucite-like layers, with magnesium and iron distributed among the octahedral positions. The cations appear to be largely disordered, although ordered regions may occur in some crystals. Between the brucite-like layers are the water molecules and carbonate groups. These are statistically arranged, with their oxygen atoms distributed among a larger number of possible sites.
