A method for the determination of the critical apparent density, which permits the free flow of electrodeposited copper powder is discussed. It was found that powders the apparent density of which were larger than 2.3 g/cm3 exhibit free flow. This is in good agreement with the literature data.

The surface structure of powder particles, which allows free flow of copper powder, was examined. It has been shown that a sufficiently dense surface structure which permits free flow will be obtained if apparent density is higher than 2.2 – 2.3 g/cm3. Such a surface structure can be obtained by reversing current electrodeposition of powder at considerably lower apparent densities of powder due to selective dissolution of subparticles during anodic time of reversing current wave. The surface structure of copper powder particles is discussed and correlated with the lowest apparent density at which the copper powder can still flow.

One of the most important properties of copper powder is its flow ability which depends on the shape and the structure of the powder particles. A procedure for the determination of a representative powder particle permitting the free flow of copper powder is proposed.

Electrochemically deposited copper powders, which are formed of particles of different size and morphology, are characterized by some properties like specific surface and apparent density. Aprocedure of the determination of a representative powder particle, exhibiting the same values of specific surface and apparent density as the powder is proposed. The proposed procedure also permints an explanation of the branching of copper dendrites.

ABSTRACT Oestrogens administered in lower doses than necessary to induce full cornification of the mouse vagina induce mucification. It was shown previously that the degree of mucification could be estimated by quantitative determination of sialic acids. A suitable parameter for oestrogen assay was the measurement of vaginal sialic acid concentration which exhibited a clear cut dose response curve. Eleven assays of various oestrogens were performed with this method. Their estimated relative potencies were in good agreement with other routine oestrogen assays. A statistically sufficient degree of precision was found. The sensitivity was of the same order, or slightly higher, than the Allen-Doisy test.
