Regional development prospects depend on a set of factors, among which the most essential are the population density, distance between actors, and the level of development. Those aspects are revealed, on one hand, while analyzing the type of regional development (intensive or extensive), and on the other hand, from the standpoint of the center-peripheral model. An assessment of the sectoral structure of employed people in the economy of the region and the population density are also used to identify the development type. The combination of these approaches makes it possible to identify the regional capacity for innovations diffusion and knowledge spillover. The aim of the research is to assess regional differences in the economy sectoral structure for identifying the innovative and extensive types of Russian regions. There are other methods used in the research as well: cartographic analysis, structural-sectoral analysis, and typology. The types of regions characterized by disproportions of intensive and extensive development have been identified. Measures are proposed to realize the regional economic potential. The issues of the territorial transformation of the settlement system and economic space are discussed. Further research is associated with an extended analysis of intensive development factors and cross-county comparison of the factors of innovations diffusion intensity and knowledge spillover.

The relevance of this study is determined by the need to improve the tools for developing strategies for the development of territorial socio-economic systems, taking into account the realities of the current stage of development. Among these realities are the formation of the economic space of the region and the limited resources for development, which determined the logic, goal and objectives of this study. The purpose of this study is to develop theoretical, methodological and practical recommendations for the formation of a regional development strategy taking into account the spatial component. To achieve this goal, the following tasks were formulated and solved: clarification of the essence and content of the category "economic space" as the basis for accounting for this category in strategic developments; identification of the features of regional development, taking into account the spatial component; development of principles and prerequisites for regional strategy taking into account the spatial component of development; formation of a scheme for accounting for the spatial component in the development of strategies for multi-level territorial entities; development and testing of a modified model of resource provision for territorial development strategies as an updated toolkit for regional strategy. The novelty of the results of this study lies in the development of theoretical, methodological and practical recommendations for using the spatial component in the formation of a regional development strategy, which, unlike existing developments, allow taking into account the properties and characteristics of economic space when developing a block for the distribution of territorial resources and thereby provide conditions for increasing the resulting parameters multilevel territorial entities and the region as a whole.

The interaction between companies and universities is a central theme in discussions on technology transfer. In Brazil, there is an urgent need to raise awareness of the importance of this cooperative relationship for local and regional development. In this sense, it is observed that the innovation process is strategic so that an institution is strengthened and can fulfill its social mission in economic and regional development. Piauí, according to the IBGE census, has a population estimate of 3,273,227 in 2019. Piaui's per capita income is R$ 817.00 and ranks 24th in Brazil in this regard. With these data, the need arises to intervene scientifically in this reality. The objective of this study is to investigate the partnership relationships between companies and public research institutions in Piauí, in the development and transfer of technologies. Research Institutions are the main promoters of technological development in the state, however, for these technologies to reach productive arrangements, strategic alignment in the management of these technologies is necessary. Documentary research was used, with a quantitative approach. In the exploratory search, INPI's databases (National Institute of Industrial Property) and of Espacenet ( European Patent Office ) was used. We sought to select the companies with relevant economic representativeness in the state scenario and investigated the patent information. In the analysis of the data obtained, the Competitiveness Ranking of the CLP States (Public Leadership) was used to compare Piauí with well positioned states. According to the results found, it is observed that the transfer of technology between research institutions and companies is not evident. However, we can see that there are partnership initiatives with small companies in conducting research that can project a change in this scenario. The low number of patents and public/private partnerships in driving innovation in the state of Piauí, may be related to the low index evidenced by the Competitiveness Ranking of States - CLP.

The study aimed to substantiate the nature of the interaction between the economic efficiency of the peat industry and the sustainability of the region on the example of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area (KhMAA) of Russia. Based on the development indicators of the districts of KhMAA for 2017-2020, the factors characterizing the components of sustainable regional development were determined using the principal components’ method. Using the fuzzy sets’ method, the values, levels of the factors, and the integral indicator of sustainable development were calculated, and the realized and unrealized potential of peat industry development in the context of the districts of the study area were determined. The causal relationships between indicators of regional sustainable development and peat industry potential, and the nature of dependence between the indicators, are argued. The regional development prospects were revealed through the peat industry development based on the regression models built by calculating the elasticity coefficients.

The District of Maluku Tenggara Barat is situated between: 07º 06’ 13” - 08º 02’ 08” South Latitudes and 131º 03’ 39” - 131º 45’ 09” East Longitudes. The Broad of Territory in the District of Maluku Tenggara ± 325,725 Ha. Maluku Tenggara Barat District was above three tectonic plates, resulting in the formation of the complex geological conditions, therefore the region include earthquake and tsunami prone area. About 30 percent of the tsunami in Indonesia occurred in the Maluku Sea and Banda Sea. Based on record have occurred BMKG station, 31 tsunami events occurred which caused a big earthquake. Looking at a fairly high frequency, it is important to assess potential earthquake and tsunami disaster in the future. The results of the study the potential for disaster if it is associated with population density, infrastructure and land use will be obtained a vulnerability. Vulnerability is needed in preparing the Regional Development.

The development of Industry 4.0 has a significant impact not only on production processes but also on the functioning and future of regions. It is crucial to understand the phenomena taking place in the social and economic space both from the cognitive and practical point of view. The article is based on research which investigates the prospect of communes in the context of Industry 4.0 development. The aim of the article is to show possible consequences of the development of Industry 4.0 from the local perspective. The basic assumption is a positive impact of entrepreneurship on ensuring sustainable regional development. The model adopted is built on a resource-based view and includes both invariable, external and independent resources such as location, as well as those which are variable in the longer term, such as human and social capital. To verify most of the hypotheses, a linear regression model has been created. The results of the research show that there is a strong correlation between human capital, social capital, proximity of an agglomeration and tourist attractiveness of a region, and regional development operationalised by the number of enterprises. The article presents possible directions of changes in the profiles of local units, as well as the conditions which have to be met in order to enable such a transformation.
