The data of 12 water quality parameters have been daily monitored at the Nis station on the Nisava River during 2000-2004. The trend analysis was performed on monthly, seasonal and annual time series using the Mann-Kendall test, the Spearman?s Rho test and the linear regression at the 5% significance level. The monthly results showed that significant trends were found only in pH, total hardness, Ca and SO4 data. The results in seasonal series indicated that the significant trends were detected in pH, total hardness, Cl, Ca and SO4 data. In annual series, the trends were insignificant at the 5% significance level.

In the present study an attempt has been made to evaluate water quality and related density of Cladocerans for a period of one year, October 2015 to September 2016. Water quality parameters such as temperature, PH, total dissolved solids, dissolved oxygen, biological oxygen demand, total alkalinity, total hardness, chlorides, phosphates, and nitrates are presented here to relate with the abundance of Cladocerans. The Cladoceran abundance reflects the eutrophic nature of the Chakki talab.

The present work illustrates the potential application of techniques of spatial analysis via geographic information systems (GIS) to categorize the distribution of temporal and spatial of water prediction characteristics to determine the water quality parameters of the Shatt Al-Arab River (SAA), southern Iraq. Eight main water quality parameters and three heavy metals were measured from December 2018 to October 2019. The total dissolved solids, chloride, sulfate, and total hardness were compared with previous data that were measured from 2014 to 2018 based on data availability. The geochemical characteristics were also investigated to analyze water quality parameters. The study was performed by selecting eleven stations according to the nature areas of SAA. Water samples were acquired from the eleven stations for four seasons (winter of 2018 through autumn of 2019). Results revealed that total dissolved solids ranged between 950 to 8500 mg/L, total hardness varied from 400 to 2394 mg/L as calcium carbonate (CaCO3), the sulfate ranged from 149 to 1602 mg/L, and chloride ranged from 330 to 3687 mg/L. The results showed that SAA had high salinity with a low hazard of sodicity. The SAA waters mainly fall below the Dolomite-Magnesite tie-lines which indicated the dissolution of carbonate rocks. This research also found that the study area confined from Al-Maqal station to Abu Flus port station where the salty marine water coming from the Arabian Gulf remains for longer periods. The SAA is not suitable for drinking and irrigation water according to Iraqi and World Health Organization (WHO) standards. This study suggested building a blocking dam downstream of the SAA to prevent salty water from coming back from Arabian Gulf.

Groundwater is prime and major source of drinking water in our world. Groundwater in Jharkhand is also used for drinking, domestic, irrigation, mining and industrial etc. purposes. In Jharkhand some population are suffering from scarcity of pure drinking water and some population have partial facility with drinking water as groundwater of many area of Jharkhand are contaminated with fluoride, arsenic, heavy metals and iron etc. dangerous chemicals. This review paper focuses on current status of groundwater and contamination of different water quality parameters based on major ion chemistry in Jharkhand. The discussed water quality parameters in this study are water temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solid, total hardness, calcium, magnesium, iron, sodium, potassium, chloride, fluoride, arsenic, carbonate, bicarbonate, phosphate, nitrate and sulphate.

The current study was performed to monitor in situ condition and spatio-temporal modelling of the present status of water quality parameters of different spawning grounds and sanctuaries of Hilsha. The study was conducted in nine sites in lower Padma River (Maowa) to lower Meghna River (Bhola, Patuakhali) from 1 August 2015 to 31 January 2016. This study demonstrates surface water temperature, salinity, conductivity and transparency were ranged from 19.00-33.00°C, 0.10-2.90 ppt, 125.60-4720.00 µS/cm and 6.60-74.00 cm respectively. The values of pH, DO, free CO2, total alkalinity, total hardness and free NH3 were varied from 6.00-9.50, 4.50-11.60 mg/L, 3.46-24.00 mg/L, 33.00-172.50 mg/L, 34.20-1291.00 mg/L and 0.20-1.40 mg/L respectively. Moreover, water quality model reveals that the present status of some water quality parameters (free CO2, free NH3, transparency) deviated from optimum condition suitable for the normal physiological process and spawning of Hilsha.

The aim of present investigation was to analyze the variations in the physio-chemical properties of the ground water of Cuttack district Odisha. In the present study 98 samples were collected and analyzed to assess the quality of ground water. The pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total hardness and total alkalinity of the collected 98 samples were in the range of 4.6-7.3, 36-4550 μS/cm, 40-200 mgl-1, 20-680 mgl-1 respectively. Similarly, the other important water quality parameters such as; chloride, nitrate sulphate and phosphate concentration were varies between BDL-327, 1.8-86.25, BDL-194 and BDL to 3.2 mgl-1 respectively. The pH of the alluvial groundwater is controlled by the HCO3. The fluoride concentration was varies from BDL to 2.38 mgl-1. Apart from few samples, 90.81% fluoride contaminated samples comes under the category of quality group A (< 1 mgl-1flouride). Similarly, out of total samples collected only in three samples the uranium concentration estimated to be more than 5ppb. Among the water quality parameters there exist a positive correlation between pH and fluoride with a correlation coefficient of 0.641. From the correlation analysis it is found that, higher concentration of fluorid correlated with higher pH. Similarly the correlation coefficient between calcium and chloride is very high i.e. 0.500, which strongly supported the existence of calcium in the study area is predominantly in the form of CaCl2. Most of the ground water samples meet the requirements of the WHO drinking water standards with respect to salinity, main constituents and potentially toxic trace elements such as uranium

Abstract A series of programs have been developed using the statistical package Minitab to evaluate trends of water quality parameters over a time period. These programs are included in an interactive program with graphic capabilities called Water Quality Trend Analysis (WQTA). The output files from the retrieval and year programs of the National Water Quality Data Bank (NAQUADAT) are used as input files to the program. The graphic output is obtained using the graphical package Axum. Twelve-month moving averages and the Spearman’s rank correlation are applied for trend assessments. The components of variability (seasonal, trend and random) of the water quality parameters are modelled using linear regression. The methods are applied successfully to selected physical and chemical water quality parameters collected at the mouth of Niagara River, at Niagara-on-the-Lake, during the period 1976–89. The specific conductance was decreasing for the period as the discharge was increasing, due to higher dilution effects. A modest downward trend for total phosphorus was observed for the period 1976–84, and there is no trend between 1984-89. A strong decreasing trend for chloride was observed during the 1977–84 period but this has levelled off since then. A strong upward trend for iron and a weak downward trend for lead was evident over the study period.

The manuscript herewith presents the assessment of water quality parameters in the samples drawn in year 2014-15 from Akshar Vihar pond, located centrally in district Bareilly (U.P.), India. Analysis of check parameters chosen, was performed by employing standard procedures laid down in APHA. The minimum to maximum values recorded in each month of the experimental year for pH, total hardness, DO, BOD, COD, calcium and magnesium were 7.2-8.8, 380 - 486mg/L, 4.2-10.6 mg/L, 1.0-1.6 mg/L, 3.8-8.4 mg/L, 52.97-74.84 mg/L and 56.74-72.98 mg/L respectively. Significant correlation was observed for COD with pH (0.816), carbonate (0.875) and bicarbonate (0.927); that of total hardness with magnesium (0.954) as well as of DO inversely with water temperature (-0.821).

Ground water samples collected from different localities in and around Gobichettipalayam town, Erode District, Tamil Nadu were analyzed for their physico- chemical characteristics. This analysis result was compared with the WHO & ICMR standards of drinking water quality parameters with the following water quality parameters namely pH, Electrical conductivity, CN-, Cl-, SO42-, Na+, K+, Ca & Mg in CaCO3equivalents, phenolphthalein alkalinity, hydroxide alkalinity, carbonate alkalinity, bicarbonate alkalinity, total alkalinity, total dissolved solids, total solids, total suspended solids, calcium, magnesium, total hardness, dissolved oxygen, fluorideetc., The usefulness of these parameters in predicting ground water quality characteristics were discussed. Thus an attempt has been made to find the quality of ground water in and around Gobichettipalayam town, suitable for drinking purposes or not.

WQI range falls from poor (70.45, December; 73.55, October; 74.4, November and 74.56, September/ 74.52, January and 75.36, September), very poor(82.54, February; 89.25, May; 80.76, August and 78.86, January/ 80.89, February; 98.25, April; 80.03, June; 82.26, July; 86.55, October and 83.03, November) to unfit (100.44, June; 101.9, July; 103.86, April and 119.5, March/ 103.73, May; 108.28, March; 122.56, August and 103.72, December). Comparison of range of various water quality parameters of Surinsar lake water, with national and international standards has also revealed that most of these parameters are beyond permissible limits. This clearly indicates the unsuitability of raw water, generally consumed by local inhabitants, for human consumption.
