The subject of the research presented in this paper is the role of the leadership of change agents in the implementation of organizational change. The focus of research is on the micro-aspect of change, specifically on the impact of changes in employees and their attitudes and behaviors that have a direct and significant impact on change success. The results of empirical research conducted in one Bosnian company show that the transformational behavior of the change agent is not equally relevant and effective in the case of the three organizational changes implemented in the company. The explanation for this can be found in the characteristics of the changes themselves, both those related to their cause and those related to the depth of the intervention and the expected consequences of change in the organizational culture.

Abstract The main challenge for internal change agents is to overcome the ambiguity of their role as members of the organization who at the same time have to manage change in the organization. These challenges lead to the emergence of various boundaries encountered in organizations, which need to be spanned with the right strategy for change to be managed effectively. Unfortunately, there have not been many guidelines and training specifically provided to internal change agents, particularly regarding the constraints encountered and strategies for overcoming those boundaries. Generally, available training programs and guidance provided develop the ability to manage change in general. This self-guided manual for internal change agents aims to develop the ability of internal change agents, especially in overcoming the ambiguity of their role in the organization, by recognizing the boundaries they face and strategies for breaking those boundaries. This guide was developed based on the results of previous research that qualitatively explored the role of internal change agents in managing change in organizations, particularly in recognizing the boundaries encountered and their strategies for breaking boundaries so that organizational change can take place effectively. There are 3 stages carried out, namely 1) preparation, 2) guide development, and 3) evaluation and dissemination. This guidebook with the title “Spanning Boundaries, Becoming a Reliable Internal Change Agent” is organized into 4 parts, namely: Section (1) Organizational Change and the Role of Change Agents, (2) Boundaries Found in Implementing Change, (3) Strategies to Overcome Boundaries, (4) Personal Characters Needed to Overcome Boundaries and How to Develop It. It is hoped that because it is based on empirical data, the guidelines that have been compiled can develop the insight of internal change agents to be able to answer the concrete challenges faced to be able to manage change effectively. Keywords: Self-Guided Manual, Internal Change Agent, Boundary Spanning, Change Management   Abstrak Tantangan utama agen perubahan internal adalah mengatasi ambiguitas perannya sebagai anggota organisasi yang pada saat yang bersamaan harus mengelola perubahan di organisasi. Tantangan ini menyebabkan munculnya berbagai batasan yang ditemui dalam organisasi, yang perlu dapat diretas dengan strategi yang tepat agar perubahan dapat dikelola secara efektif. Sayangnya belum banyak ditemukan panduan dan pelatihan yang khusus diberikan kepada agen perubahan internal, khususnya terkait dengan batasan yang ditemui dan strategi untuk meretas batasan tersebut. Umumnya program pelatihan dan panduan yang diberikan mengembangkan kemampuan mengelola perubahan secara umum. Panduan mandiri (self guided manual) untuk agen perubahan internal ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan kemampuan agen perubahan internal, khususnya dalam mengatasi ambiguitas perannya dalam organisasi, dengan mengenali batasan yang dihadapi serta strategi meretas batasan tersebut. Panduan ini dikembangkan berdasar hasil penelitian yang dilakukan sebelumnya yang mengeksplorasi secara kualitatif peran agen perubahan internal dalam mengelola perubahan dalam organisasi, khususnya dalam mengenali batasan yang ditemui serta strategi mereka dalam meretas batasan agar perubahan organisasi dapat berlangsung secara efektif. Terdapat 3 tahapan yang dijalankan, yakni tahapan 1) persiapan, 2) pengembangan panduan, dan 3) evaluasi dan diseminasi. Panduan dengan judul “Meretas Batasan, Menjadi Agen Perubahan Internal yang Handal” disusun menjadi 4 bagian, yakni: Bagian (1) Perubahan Organisasi dan Peran Agen Perubahan, (2) Boundary yang Ditemui dalam Mengimplementasi Perubahan, (3) Strategi Mengatasi Boundary, (4) Karakter Personal yang Dibutuhkan untuk Mengatasi Boundary dan Cara Mengembangkannya. Diharapkan karena didasarkan pada data empiris, maka panduan yang disusun dapat mengembangkan wawasan agen perubahan internal untuk dapat menjawab tantangan konkrit yang dihadapi agar mampu mengelola perubahan secara efektif. This paper addresses the work of the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) research community as presented at a series of three UK conferences on Stimulating Manufacturing Excellence in SMEs. An important difficulty that emerges is the problem of the translation of research outputs and business advice into formats that are attractive to SMEs. This is briefly illustrated through the differing perceptions of the business scenario as seen by the SME owner/manager and an external change-agent, condensed into five parameters. The role of policy makers and change-agents and their need for high-quality research are examined, leading to a discussion of the contributions to be expected from, and therefore the implications for, the research community. From this, recommendations are developed for the future direction of SME research.

AbstractThe article presents the results of the review of the empirical literature regarding the impact of quantitative easing (QE) on emerging markets (EMs). The subject is of interest to policymakers and researchers due to the increasingly larger role of EMs in the world economy and the large-scale capital flows occurring after 2009. The review is conducted in a systematic manner and takes into consideration different methodological choices, samples and measurement issues. The paper puts the summarized results in the context of transmission channels identified in the literature. There are few distinct methodological approaches present in the literature. While there is a consensus regarding the direction of the impact of QE on EMs, its size and durability have not yet been assessed with sufficient precision. In addition, there are clear gaps in the empirical findings, not least related to relative underrepresentation of the CEE region (in particular, Poland).

Organizations that are aiming to successfully implement change needs the support and acceptance of employees who are their key stakeholder. This study analyses the influence of Employees` attitude towards organization change. The research also aims at evaluating the influence of employees’ attitude towards commitment to organization and job after the introduction of change in the organization. The study was conducted among 300 employees who belonged to executive and managerial category from different star rated hotels in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India which are currently embracing organization changes. The findings indicate that employees of the study demonstrate a positive approach towards the change management in their organization. The observations also project that a positive approach by employees towards changes, is a very good indication for organizations to know that their workforce is committed towards the organizational goals. Hence with the support of change agents, adequate communications and by creating awareness about the need for change will result in sustainable growth in the organizations.

A Rhetorics of the Word is the second volume of a three-part philosophy of Christian life. It approaches Christian life as expressive of a divine calling or vocation. The word Church (ekklesia) and the role of naming in baptism indicate the fundamental place of calling in Christian life. However, ideas of vocation are difficult to access in a world shaped by the experience of disenchantment. The difficulties of articulating vocation are explored with reference to Weber, Heidegger, and Kierkegaard. These are further connected to a general crisis of language, manifesting in the degradation of political discourse (Arendt) and the impact of new communications technology on human discourse. This impact can be seen as reinforcing an occlusion of language in favour of rationality already evidenced in the philosophical tradition and technocratic management. New possibilities for thinking vocation are pursued through the biblical prophets (with emphasis on Buber’s and Rosenzweig’s reinterpretation of the call of Moses), Saint John, and Russian philosophies of language (Florensky to Bakhtin). Vocation emerges as bound up with the possibility of being name-bearers, enabling a mutuality of call and response. This is then evidenced further in ethics and poetics, where Levinas and Hermann Broch (The Death of Virgil) become major points of reference. In conclusion, the themes of calling and the name are seen to shape the possibility of love—the subject of the final part of the philosophy of Christian life: A Metaphysics of Love.

Purpose The purpose of the paper is to present the latest scholarly trends in the field of social capital in libraries, to review research concepts published by LIS professionals and to suggest further research possibilities in this area. Design/methodology/approach This paper presents a review and critical analysis of literature associated with research on social capital in libraries to highlight its importance for the development of LIS and its impact on the functioning of environments linked with various types of libraries. The goal of literature analysis was to determine the current condition of research on social capital in libraries. The main trends were identified and the need for further qualitative analyses, which are missing at the moment, was confirmed. Findings It was determined that, so far, LIS professionals have focussed mainly on the role of municipal libraries in developing social capital, the problem of building trust, especially in immigrant circles and the impact of libraries on promoting a civil society. Academic libraries, rural libraries, organisational capital in libraries and individual social capital of librarians were a much less frequent subject of research. The role of libraries in developing social capital in educational (primary and secondary education) and professional (non-university professionals) circles is practically non-existent in research, and it will require in-depth studies and analyses in the coming years. Originality/value This paper constitutes a synthetic review of the latest research concepts concerning social capital in libraries. It identifies the most important research trends and areas that so far have not been explored and suggests research methods to help LIS professionals design future research in this area more effectively.

The calls for educational reform that have dominated the professional and lay literature for the past few years have been decidedly silent in discussing the role of special education either as a contributor or a solution to the problems being raised. As an introduction to this “Special Focus” on the relationship between general educational reform and special education, this article summarizes some of the more prominent reports with regard to their treatment (and nontreatment) of special education. The impact of proposed reforms for the conceptualization and operation of special education is the subject of the five articles that follow.

Purpose: This study evaluates the role of transformational leadership in effective strategic implementation. The purposes of this study are; first, to examine the degree of transformational leadership of administrative officials; second, to assess the degree of effective strategic implementation; third, to investigate the impact of transformational leadership on effective strategic implementation. Finally, this study examines the roles of organizational culture as a moderator of the association between transformational leadership and effective strategic implementation. Methodology: This study uses the case study of municipalities in Trang Province in Thailand. This research employs quantitative methods. The questionnaires are collected from administrative officials of municipalities in Trang Province. Descriptive statistics are used to analyse the data. This study uses Pearson correlation analysis to achieve the associations between two variables. In addition, regression analysis is applied as a suitable statistical tool to test the hypotheses. Implication: This study combined the framework of strategic management, leadership, and organizational culture for testing the conceptual model. The study is particularly useful for improving the roles of administrative officials in order to achieve effective strategic in municipalities.

The goal of this article consists in demonstration of the impact of research in the field of history and theory of law alongside the hermeneutics of Emilio Betti impacted the vector of this philosophical thought. The subject of this article is the lectures read by Emilio Betti (prolusioni) in 1927 and 1948, as well as his writings of 1949 and 1962. Analysis is conducted on the succession of Betti's ideas in these works, which is traced despite the discrepancy in their theme (legal and philosophical). The author indicates “legal” origin of the canons of Bettis’ hermeneutics, namely the canon of autonomy of the object. Emphasis is placed on the problem of objectivity in Betti's theory, as well as on dialectical tension between the historicity of the interpreted subject and strangeness of the object that accompanies legal, as well as any other type of interpretation. The article reveals the key moment of Betti's criticism of Hans-Georg Gadamer. Regarding the question of historicity of the subject of interpretation. The conclusion is made that the origin of the general theory of interpretation lies in the approaches and methods developed and implemented by Betti back in legal hermeneutics and in studying history of law.   Betti's philosophical theory was significantly affected by the idea on the role of modern legal dogma in interpretation of the history of law. Namely this idea that contains the principle of historicity of the subject of interpretation, which commenced  the general hermeneutical theory of Emilio Betti, was realized in canon of the relevance of understanding in the lecture in 1948, and later in the “general theory of interpretation”. The author also underlines that the question of objectivity of understanding, which has crucial practical importance in legal hermeneutics, was transmitted into the philosophical works of E. Betti, finding reflection in dialectic of the subject and object of interpretation.
