Effects of the use of probiotic Beta Plus in nutrition of gestating and lactating sows, suckling piglets, weaned piglets were investigated. Obtained results showed that: introduction of Beta Plus in concentrations of 0.1% in diets had an effect which was characterized by: - smaller losses of body mass of sows during lactation period, by 21.8%, - shorter service period of sows, by 2.95 days, - more weaned piglets, 0.20 piglets/litter, and - better gain, by 6.69%, and more favorable feed conversion ratio, by 0.9% in weaning piglets Generally we recommend the use of probiotic Beta Plus in nutrition of sows, suckling piglets and weaned piglets.

Abstract Background Probiotics are used as a means to improve animal health and intestinal development. Saccharomyces boulardii is a well-known probiotic; however, few studies have examined the effects of S. boulardii on weaned piglet performance. Therefore, this 28-day study compared the effects of S. boulardii mafic-1701 and aureomycin in diets for weaned piglets on growth performance, antioxidant parameters, inflammation and intestinal microbiota. One hundred and eight piglets, weaned at 28 d of age (8.5 ± 1.1 kg), were randomly divided into the three dietary treatment groups with six pens and six piglets per pen (half male and half female). The dietary treatment groups were as follows: 1) basal diet (CON); 2) basal diet supplemented with 75 mg/kg aureomycin (ANT); 3) basal diet supplemented with 1 × 108 CFU/kg S. boulardii mafic-1701 (SB). Results Compared to CON group, SB group had higher feed efficiency (P < 0.05) in the last 14 d and lower diarrhea rate (P <  0.05) over the entire 28 d. Total superoxide dismutase in serum was markedly increased in SB group (P < 0.05). Moreover, compared with CON group, SB group decreased the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin-6 (P <  0.01) and Tumor necrosis factor-α (P < 0.05) in jejunum. Supplementation of S. boulardii mafic-1701 increased the abundance of Ruminococcaceae_UCG_009 and Turicibacter (P < 0.05), whereas the abundance of unclassified_Clostridiaceae_4 was decreased (P < 0.05). Furthermore, S. boulardii mafic-1701 administration increased cecal concentration of microbial metabolites, isobutyrate and valerate (P < 0.05). Conclusions The improvement in feed conversion ratio, reduction in diarrhea rate in weaned piglets provided diets supplemented with S. boulardii mafic-1701 may be associated with enhanced antioxidant activity, anti-inflammatory responses and improved intestinal microbial ecology.

In the last ten years we have been witnesses to import of numerous premixes produced by various producers and of different quality in regard to concentration of ingredients which are their main components. There is relatively few data on the effects of their nutritive value in pigs, so this research was carried out with objective to verify the effects of several different imported premixes and those produced according to domestic concept, in nutrition of sows, suckling piglets and weaned piglets. Research was performed on private farm in the vicinity of Sabac in Serbia. Obtained results showed that there was no significant difference in losses of body masses and food consumption in sows during lactation period. Nutrition of suckling piglets using mixture which contained adequate premix of domestic production improved the growth rate by 7.6%. Cost of food when domestic premixes were used in nutrition of sows and piglets was by 5.3% lower, and value of realized piglets by approx. 26.0% more favourable when domestic premixes were used in nutrition of sows and suckling piglets. Piglets in rearing were fed mixtures containing imported premixes showed no significantly important effect on gain, but had poorer feed conversion by 6.2% compared to animals fed diets containing domestic premix. Domestic premix in mixtures reduced the cost of mixtures by 3.4% and reduced the cost of gain of piglets in rearing by 9.9% compared to nutrition with diets containing imported premixes. In general, obtained results shoed that use of both types of compared premixes can be recommended, but it is more economically efficient to use domestic premixes in nutrition of sows and piglets.

The effects of use of high protein plant feed - Ekofish meal in nutrition of sows in lactation, sucking piglets and weaned piglets were investigated in this paper. Considering our previous positive experiences in use of similar feed in nutrition of weaned piglets and fatteners, objective of this paper was to evaluate the effects of use of high protein feed based on plant proteins in diets for lactating sows, suckling and weaned piglets. Investigated feed was produced according to specific technology in production facilities of the firm Bankom in Serbia. Investigations were carried out on the Experimental pig farm of the Institute for Animal Husbandry, Belgrade-Zemun in Serbia. Obtained results showed that in isonitrogen mixtures the introduction of studied feed as substitute for fish meal had positive effects: by 6,18% lower losses of body mass of sows during lactation, by 1,6 shorter service period, with almost identical gain (difference of 2 g) in suckling piglets, increased consumption of pre-starter by 1,1 kg/litter in piglets during creep feeding, and similar but by 4,73% lower cost of gain with similar feed conversion in weaned piglets. In general, obtained results have shown that use of high protein plant feed can be recommended in nutrition of sows, suckling and weaned piglets.

The overview of domestic and foreign investigations of the effects of various intensity of ant feeding technique in various categories of pheasants. With the aim to increase number of pheasants in our country and in the world, for decades pheasant chicks are produced in pheasant farms up to the age of 5-8 weeks, and body mass of 400-450 g, after which they are released into the hunting grounds. The capacity of pheasant farms in Serbia is about 900.500 hatched chicks, and in the past four decades several tens of millions of artificially reared pheasants were released. The quality of feeding the brood stock of pheasants, which produce eggs for hatching incubator has a direct influence on number, mass and fertility of eggs, and on the mass of newly hatched chicks. The feed conversion ratio in chicks depends on the first place on energy and protein level, and also on biological value of protein. In domestic investigations of pheasant chicks feeding with the concentrate mixture with higher protein value (30% to 28 days of age and 24% to 42 days of age) and with lower stocking density (450 individuals in the group), had significantly bigger Final body mass (457.07 g) and higher daily gain (4.22 g in the first 13:31 and g in the second period), and with better feed conversion ratio.

The objective of the study is to compare the practical results with the predicted results by Crossbreeding Effects (CBE) software on pig crossbred based on daily gain, backfat thickness and feed conversion ratio. Another purpose of this study is to predict those three traits among some expected hybridization. This research was conducted on pig farm at Binh Thang Research and Development center from 2013 to 2017. In this study, for each pair of purebred Duroc and Pietrain, Duroc and Landrace, Pietrain and Landrace, twelve hybridizations were analyzed, nine unhybridizations were predicted by CBE software. The results showed that there was no significant difference between the predicted and actual data. With some unhybridization crossbred , the predictions showed high reliability (P<0.05). Based on the predicted data of CBE software , some traits of the crossbred animals would not be improved, therefore, it was not necessary to conduct these hybridizations

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemanfaatan sekam padi difermentasi larutan EffectiveMicroorganism-4 (EM-4) dalam ransum disuplementasi daun sirih (Piper betle L.) terhadap performans dan karkasitik bali betina, umur 22 minggu. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan lima perlakuan yaituransum tanpa sekam padi (A), ransum mengandung 12,50% sekam padi (B), ransum mengandung 12,50 % sekampadi difermentasi EM-4 (C), ransum mengandung 12,50% sekam padi dan daun sirih (D), serta ransum 12,50%sekam padi difermentasi EM-4 dan daun sirih (E). Setiap perlakuan terdiri atas empat ulangan dan setiap ulanganberisi lima ekor ituik bali betina, Variabel yang diamati konsumsi ransum, konsumsi antioksidan ransum, bobotbadan akhir, pertambahan bobot badan, feed conversion ratio dan karkas meliputi bobot potong, bobot karkas danpersentase karkas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian 12,50 % sekam padi difermentasi EM-4 sertadisuplementasi daun sirih tidak berpengaruh terhadap konsumsi ransum(P>0,05), namun dapat menghasilkanbobot badan akhir, pertambahan bobot badan lebih tinggi (P<0,05), serta FCR yang lebih rendah (P<0,05) sertabobot karkas dan persentase karkas yang lebih baik daripada perlakuan yang lainnya. Dapat disimpulkan bahwapemberian sekam padi yang difermentasi EM-4 serta disuplementasi daun sirih dapat memperbaiki performansdan karkas yang lebih baik daripada perlakuan yang lainnya.
