The proposed research aims to determine the relationship between dean´sleadership and organizational commitment among faculty at universities in Colombia. A quantitative research design will guide the study to determine therelationship among leadership style of deans and organizational commitment. The multifactor leadership questionnaire (MLQ) developed by Bass in 1985 andthe organizational commitment questionnaire (OCQ) developed by Meyer andAllen in 1999 will be the instruments administered to collect the data and toexplain the relationship among the proposed variables. The study sample includes part-time and full-time faculty of the National University of Colombia, Sergio Arboleda University and CESA University located in the city of Bogotá,Colombia.

Our education system has been remoulding rapidly because of modernization. Transformational leadership style leads to favourable changes in those who follow. These leaders put in maximum efforts to increase the level of follower’s awareness for valued outcomes by expanding and elevating their needs and encouraging them to transcend their self-interests. Transformational leadership plays pivotal role in promoting and managing school development by influencing the self-efficacy of teachers. Self-efficacy is one of the four major components of positive psychological capital .School is the first and foremost important platform of education. The present paper makes an attempt to study the relationship between transformational leadership style of principal and self-efficacy of school teachers. For this, a total sample of 120 (n=20 school principals having minimum 7-8yrs. experience and n= 100 school teachers having minimum 5yrs.experience of senior classes) were taken. The ratio was 1:5 (1 principal and 5 teacher from the same school). The scores of 1 principal were assigned to 5 teachers. Teacher self-efficacy scale by Schwarzer, Schmitz and Daytner and Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire by Bass and Avolio were used to measure the above variables. The data were analysed with the help of Correlation and Regression technique. Obtained findings revealed the positive correlation of idealized influence, individualized consideration, contingent reward, management-by-exception and laissez-faire leadership with self-efficacy.

Research has suggested a relationship between leadership style and job satisfaction. This paper examines this relationship in the context of a developing country, viz., South Africa. The objective of the paper is to assess the relationship between the two variables as well as the influence of biographical variables on leadership style and job satisfaction. The survey was based on the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire and the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire. The results suggest a significant correlation between the three leadership styles, viz., transformational leadership, transactional leadership and laissez-faire leadership, and job satisfaction. There were no significant differences between the biographical variables and the three leadership styles.

Purpose: The fields of motivation and leadership are very wide, and there is a large number of factors that mediate their relationships. The research aimed to examine is there a correlation between leaders’ achievement motivation and their leadership styles (transformational, transactional, and passive), and whether the achievement motive can be a predictor of leadership style. Methodology: Quantitative research was conducted in 4 companies from the territory of Serbia. Leaders and their subordinates completed two questionnaires, MLQ (Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire) and AMI (Achievement Motivation Inventory). The MLQ was used to measure transformational, transactional, and passive leadership style. AMI is a psychological test that was used to evaluate the expression of achievement motivation. Main Findings: The results showed that there is a correlation between achievement motivation and passive (r = -. 544; p <.01; N = 30), transactional (r = .381; p <.05; N = 30), and transformational leadership style (r = .412; p <.05; N = 30). Regression analysis determined the equations by which those leadership styles can be predicted based on achievement motivation. Applications: The possibility of predicting leadership styles can contribute to the process of selection of employees in companies, especially those who come directly to management positions, and employee development process. Novelty/Originality of this study: Assessing motivation for achievement as a personality trait among employees and predicting the type of leadership style based on that.

The objective of the study is to determine the relationship between the perceived transformational leadership styles of officers (as perceived by their followers) and their followers’ levels of work engagement. Followers (n=307) were identified in units of the South African Army. They completed the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) and the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) (Form 5X) for their specific leaders. Correlational analyses indicate significant correlations between the transformational leadership style of officers and their followers’ work engagement. A small amount of the variance in the work engagement outcomes can be predicted by transformational leadership. The findings suggest that there is a relationship between idealised influence (attributed) and vigour and dedication. Furthermore, individualised consideration was shown to relate to absorption within the South African sample. Idealised influence was found to predict some variance in vigour and dedication and individual consideration to predict some variance in absorption.

The variety of tasks carried out by mayors and presidents of cities was the reason to use the multidimensional concept of leadership developed by Avolio and Bass. The purpose of this article is firstly identification of the leadership styles used by mayors from Wielkopolska and secondly the examination of the relationship between used style and positives outcomes. The research sample included 61 mayors and presidents from the Wielkopolska Province. To identify the elements of leadership styles a multi‑factor leadership questionnaire (MLQ‑5X) was used. The first research hypothesis saying that mayors more often use transactional than transformational style was confirmed. At the same time, the second hypothesis about a stronger relationship between transformational style and positives outcomes was not confirmed.

The importance of part-time work has been growing in recent years, due to its significant increase in today's societies, and higher education institutions have not been alien to this trend. The present research tries to study the relationship between organizational commitment and job satisfaction with the intention to leave the institution, comparing part-time and full-time faculty. An empirical research, grounded in the model proposed by Currivan (1999), has been undertaken, with a sample of faculty of ETSEIAT, a college of the Technical University of Catalonia. Results show the existence of the relationships with organizational commitment, job satisfaction and intention to leave predicted in the literature, and significant differences in job satisfaction and organizational commitment between part-time and full-time faculty. The paper ends with some proposals of further research.

The purpose of this study is to examine and evaluate the implications of organizational commitment factors as a mediator of the relationship between transformational leadership styles and teamwork performance among law enforcement in Malaysia. Quantitative research design has been used which comprise a number of 254 support group of law enforcement officers in the Federal Territory of Putrajaya. Multiple regression analysis is used to evaluate the direct and indirect relationships of variables and study models. The two factors characteristic of the transformational leadership style are used as an independent variable in looking at the effectiveness of teamwork performance among law enforcement. The inspirational motivation and individual considerations have positive and significant relationships with teamwork performance. Organizational commitment is found to have a partial mediator that influenced the relationship between inspirational motivation and individual consideration in teamwork performance. The inspirational, motivational features and individualized considerations in the style of transformational leadership are necessary and emphasized in producing more productive and effective teamwork commitments and performance. This study presents the details of the implications of transformational leadership style characteristics on organizational commitment and teamwork performance in the context of law enforcement in Malaysia.

Introduction: Recent cases of unethical behavior in organizations indicate the need to carry out empirical research about it. Objective: Determine the existence of a relationship between ethics and leadership, demanded by society and prescribed by various academic theories. Method: For this reason, through the conduction of non-experimental, cross-sectional, quantitative research, it is sought to make a process of falsification of the theoretical proposals in the context of a municipal mayoralty. In the development of the research, the responses of 219 leaders were satisfactorily received, answering questions from two psychometric instruments of wide recognition and academic validity, the Ethics Position Questionnaire and the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire. They were carried out both through an exploratory data analysis and a confirmatory factor analysis, and a model of structural equations that tested the existence of a relation between the ethical position and the styles of leadership. Results: It was also possible to identify the influence exerted by the different ethical positions in each one of the styles of leadership in a local public administration. Conclusions: These findings facilitate the identification of ethical leadership models in local public organizations and contribute towards the empirical demonstration of the current discussion on the relationship between ethics and leadership in organizations.

Mastering the tactics of influence in leadership practices is important in able to impact the culture and relationships of fellow citizens in the organization. Hence, leaders need to know how to use appropriate tactics of subordinates to reduce conflict in leadership, especially in higher education. The purpose of this study is to identify the most frequently used influence tactics as well as to identify the relationship of influence tactics and leadership styles. This descriptive study  involve  sample of 150 polytechnic lecturers in Kelantan. The quantitative data of the study were collected by cross-sectional use of Influence Behavior Questionnaire and Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire. The findings show that soft influence tactics are most often used than hard influence tactics. The findings also show that the tactics of influence have a significant relationship with the transformational leadership style compared to the transactional leadership style and the laissez faire.  It is important for a leader of an educational institution to identify appropriate influence tactics based on the institutional situation and environment.

  The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between transformational leadership style and self-efficacy among leaders. Eighty leaders at a government agency in Johor Bahru were involved as the respondents. Quantitative methods were used for this study by using a set of 25-item questionnaires on transformational leadership style and self-efficacy. The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) founded by Bass and Avolio (1992) was used to measure the transformational leadership styles, while the self-efficacy scale developed by Chen, Gully and Eden (2001) were used to measure the respondents’ self-efficacy. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and inferences by using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 21. Overall, the results showed that the transformational leadership style among the respondent is at moderate level. The findings also showed that the respondents' self-efficacy level is high. Meanwhile, the Pearson Correlation analysis showed that there is a moderate and positive relationship between the transformational leadership style and leader’s self-efficacy. In conclusion, it was found that the transformational leadership style is related to leader’s self-efficacy. This findings from this research can be used as an empirical support for future studies in the leadership and self-efficacy field among leaders in government agencies di Malaysia.
