In this paper, we introduce the concept of compatible mappings of type (A) on a metric space, which is equivalent to the concept of compatible mappings under some conditions, and give a common fixed point theorem of Meir and Keeler type. Our result extends, generalized and improves some results of Meir-Keeler, Park-Bae, Park-Rhoades, Pant and Rao-Rao, etc.

In this paper, we establish a common fixed point theorem for three pairs of self mappings in semi-metric space using compatible mappings of type (R) which improves and extends similar known results in the literature.

Abstract In this paper, we prove a common fixed point theorem for two pairs of weakly compatible self-mappings of a complete metric space without requiring continuity. Our result generalizes a theorem obtained by V. Popa and H. K. Pathak in 1998 and a result obtained by B. Fisher and S. Sessa in 1986.
