Machine translation (MT) offers great assistantship when people have difficulties in understanding or comprehend text of their non-native language both in spoken and written language. One kind of machine translation is Google Translation that can be got on their hand just by using mobile phone. This machine can help people to translate the text from one language to another one, in short time. This study aims at finding out the translation procedures found in the translation product by Google Translation and analyzing the errors occurred in Google Translation product. The data of this study are in the form of written data taken from a bilingual children story book of archipelago legend, which consists of 100 lines. There is a source language text in Bahasa Indonesia which is translated into English by using Google translation. The texts are chosen as it contains several sentences that are constructed by paying attention on the rhyme of ending sounds. The data of this study were analyzed through qualitative method. The translation results were analyzed based on translation procedures proposed by Vinay and Dalbernet (1989). Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that translation procedures used by Google Translation found in the data source are borrowing, calque, literal, transposition, modulation, equivalence, and adaptation. The most dominant type of translation procedure is literal translation. It has the highest frequency data; with a total of 50 data (50 %). Some errors are found in the result of Google translation. They are the errors in the use of pronoun, the use of plural and singular noun and inconsistency in the translation of name. Those errors are caused by limitation of machine in detecting the context of the text. Thus, the translated text is incoherent.

The objectives of this research are to find the types and the most dominant type of translation procedures of English into Indonesian Subtitle in “English Vinglish” Movie. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The data of this study are the words, clauses, and sentences in the subtitle movie both English and Indonesian. Data source is taken from “English Vinglish” Movie. The data collection procedure in this research is document analysis. From the result, it shows that the translation procedures used in subtitle English Vinglish movie consist of direct translation and oblique translation. In direct translation, it consists of literal translation as 148 data or 34.89%, borrowing as 82 data or 20.39 %, and calque as 0 data or 0 %. While, in oblique translation consist of transposition as 76 data or 18.67 %, equivalence as 62 data or 15.23 %, modulation as 32 data or 7.86 %, and adaptation as 6 data or 1.47 %. The most dominant type of translation procedures of English into Indonesian Subtitle in “English Vinglish” Movie is in direct translation, especially in literal translation. This study is discussing about the types of English imperative used in notices, the way of constructing English imperative and Indonesian imperative, and the reason of translation procedure are being applied. A Qualitative method is applied to answer the research problems. Data of the research were taken from some notices as the SL that found around Cahaya Madani Banten Boarding School along with their translation into Indonesian text (TL) used as the data source. The result shows that there are three types of imperative sentence of English imperative sentence in notices found in SMAN CMBBS translated from English into Indonesian: negative command, request, and positive command. Seeing from the process of imperative constructions of the SL, it can obviously be stated that it is formed by syntactical process, whereas in TL it is formed by morphological process that is by attaching the marker. The result also shows that there are four types of translation procedure used in this study. All of them are oriented towards the target language. Those procedures are: borrowing, modulation, transposition, and literal translation.

This writing is aimed to analyze the translation procedure of the translation product in bilingual text. There were four bilingual (English-Indonesian) texts taken from BBC Indonesia news as data source. The data was collected randomly by reading and taking notes of the text. The selected data were analyzed based on theory of translation procedures to identify and classify the types of translation procedure used in the text. The result of this study shows that the mostly method of translating is literal translation and transposition. They were used to transfer the meaning of the authentic text from SL into TL accurately, acceptability and readability in order to make good translationThis writing is aimed to analyze the translation procedure of the translation product in bilingual text. The novel Sepertiga Malam di Manhattan by Arumi E is very interesting to study. This novel is a novel about the struggle of a family to get happiness. This novel is the Arumi E's 27th newest novel. The struggle in this novel is to make the family happy, expecting for the baby. Before writing the novel, Arumi E did a research in the places written in the novel to achieve a very interesting fictional story and most of this story was taken from the traveling results so it was so interesting. The objective of this research is to describe (1) the Autopoetic System in the novel Sepertiga MalamdiManhattan by Arumi E. (2) The differentiation system in the Novel Sepertiga Malamdi Manhattan by Arumi E.The research method used is in the form of a descriptive qualitative method that uses a social system approach. The method used by the researcher is the dialectical method. The data source used in this research is the novel Sepertiga Malamdi Manhattan by Arumi E, published by Gramedia publisher in 2018. The data collection in this study uses the steps of reading the novel. To collect data, the researcher use any instrument.There are two results of the study: (1) The autopoetic system in the novel Sepertiga MalamdiManhattan by Arumi E. is concerning to some characters who have their own beliefs or rules in their lives who do not want to follow the rules of others, they are more confident in their own way to success and purpose of life. (2) The system of differentiation in the novel Sepertiga Malamdi Manhattan by Arumi E. is covering the handling of changes in the environment, the characters are able to adapt to the new environment, which has a different culture from the original culture. This shows evidence of the system autopoetic and differentiation in the novel Sepertiga MalamdiManhattan by Arumi E.

The objectives of this study were to find out the types of lexical ambiguity and the most dominant type of lexical ambiguity used in analytical exposition texts in English Today 2 and Advanced Learning English 2 textbooks. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The research was mainly focused on the four types of lexical ambiguity proposed by Saeed, such as homonymy, polysemy, synonymy and antonymy. In carrying out this study, the data were taken from analytical exposition texts in reading materials and exercise material from the two English textbooks which contained of ambiguous words. The result of the study indicated the numbers of lexical ambiguity were 46 words within homonymy (34,8%), polysemy (28,2%), synonymy (19,6%), and antonymy (17,4%).

AbstrakPenelitian ini berjudul “Pergeseran Bahasa Sunda dalam Leksikon Makanan Tradisional Sunda di Kabupaten Bandung dalam Perspektif Sosiolinguistik Mikro”. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menjelaskan bentuk-bentuk perubahan dan inovasi bahasa dalam leksikon-leksikon makanan tradisional Sunda yang menjadi faktor penentu terjadinya pemertahanan atau pergeseran suatu bahasa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif-deskriptif. Sumber data pada penelitian ini berupa leksikon-leksikon makanan tradisional di Kabupaten Bandung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) bahasa Sunda dalam leksikon makanan tradisional Sunda sebagian besar telah mengalami inovasi; (2) gejala perubahan bentuk dari leksikon-leksikon makanan tradisional Sunda adalah inovasi leksikal penuh, inovasi fonetis, dan inovasi morfemis; (3) bahasa Sunda di Kabupaten Bandung dalam konsep makanan tradisional Sunda telah mengalami pergeseran bahasa secara sosiolinguistik mikro, mengingat faktor-faktor internal bahasa, yaitu berupa inovasi, telah terjadi. Inovasi tersebut meliputi inovasi leksikal penuh, inovasi fonologis, dan inovasi morfemis. Faktor-faktor internal bahasa ini menjadi faktor utama pemertahanan dan pergeseran bahasa.Kata kunci: pergeseran bahasa, makanan tradisional, sosiolinguistik mikroAbstractThe article is entitled "The shifting of Sundanese Language in Lexiconsof Sundanese Food in Bandung Regency studied by Micro Sociolinguistics". The purpose of this study is to describe the forms of change and linguistic innovation in the lexiconsof Sundanesetraditional food which become the determining factor of a language retention or shift. The methods used in this research is descriptive-qualitative method. The data source on this research are lexicons of Sundanese traditional foods in Bandung Regency. The results show that (1) Sundanese Language in the lexiconsof Sundanese Food in the majority hasundergone an innovation; (2) the morphemic change phenomemaof theSundanese traditional food lexicons consist of the full lexical innovation, innovation, innovation and phonetic morfemis; (3) There has been a shift in Sundanese language micro-sociolinguistically regarding the lexiconsof Sundanese traditional food in Bandung Regency based on internal factors of language, i.e. in the form of innovation. These innovations include the full lexical innovation, phonological innovation, and innovation morfemis. Internal factors of a language became a major factor of language retention and language shift.Keywords: language shift, traditional food, micro-sociolinguistic

This research is entitled “The Translation Problem Types in Translating Indonesia textinto English (A Case Study of Translation Subject of Fifth Semester English Department –UPY) . It is about how Indonesia text is translated into English by English students, toidentify the translation problems, and to identify the problematics of translation technique.This research uses qualitative method to analyze the data. Techniques of analyzing datain this research consist of 3 components, they are (1) reducing the data, (2) explaining thedata, and (3) taking a conclusion. Reducing data is a process of selecting, focusing,simplifying and abstracting the data. Explaining the data is a process of organizinginformation and arranging the complete narration. Taking a conclusion is a process ofdrawing conclusion from the data. The data source of this research are Indonesia text andstudent’s translation.After conducting the research, the research find the data that all respondents havesimilar translation problem types in translating Indonesia text into English. The problems arediction, tenses, no equivalence translation; others have problems of adverb, article, andrelative clause. None of respondents apply other translation technique. They only apply wordper word translation technique. The accuracy of transfer level is adequate level. Only onerespondent have almost completely successful transfer level. Other respondents haveadequate accuracy transfer level. By applying the untrue translation technique has an impactto translation accuracy transfer level.This research is expected to open wide opportunities and challenges to academicians,especially those in translation linguistics sphere to deepen their research and study, especiallyin translating Indonesia text to English in order to be a new contribution to the translationfields.

The aim of this study is to analyze the types of figurative language which found in Ugly Love novel by Colleen Hoover. This study used figurative language theory by Leech to analyze the data which the researcher found in the novel. The method of this study is descriptive qualitative method. The total of the data are 87 data to be analyzed in the types of figurative language. The data will be identify and classify into 8 types of figurative language by Leech. The result of this study found 6 types of figurative language in this Ugly Love novel. That are 33 data of personifications (33 data) , 19 data of similes, 11 data of irony, 10 data of hyperbole, 9 data of metaphors, and 5 data of metonymy. The most of dominant type of figurative language in the Ugly Love novel by Colleen Hoover is personification.

In sociolinguistics, there is a phenomenon in which a community stops using their parent’s heritage language by making the use of the language in which they are located or stay as a mean of communication, it is called as a language shift. In this research, it aims to find out the factors that affected the students whose parents originated from Sunda not interested to learn their parent’s heritage language. Moreover, it aims to find out the most dominant factor that affected the students not interested to learn their parent’s heritage language. This research used the qualitative method and the data source comes from the students of English literature in Universitas Gunadarma. The result of this research shows the factors that affected the students not interested to learn their parent’s heritage language such as social, economic, and political factor, demographic factor, attitudes and values factors, education factor, migration factor, and bilingual or multilingual factors. Furthermore, education factor is assumed as the most dominant or influential factor to the students not interested to learn their parent’s heritage language, because all of the students choose agree to the education factor.
