In accordance with future tourism, there will be a movement from mass tourism to quality tourism. As a sequence, all sectors which take part in tourism development should develop quality tourism. (Suja, Ketut. 2015:1). A quality tourism means a tourism sector which is applying Tri Hita Karana (THK). THK is as a weapon to maintain sustainable tourism. By applying the THK the world Bali could be saved from destroy, to save nature, the ecology of Bali, economy and social benefit. (Ardika, I Gede. 2015,X1). This research is aimed to know the activities of The Secret Garden Village, if he applies the THK concept to maintain sustainable tourism ?. Data of this research was collected by using direct observation, depth interview and documentation. The data is obtained from informants who know well about the object of research such as : Mr. Billy Hartono Salim, the owner of Secret Garden Village, Mr. Putu Gede Arista DityaPradana, the operation Manager of Black Eye Coffee, Mr. Andra Martin, the Architech of building design. After that, the data was analyzed descriptively. The result of the research showed that the activities of all staff of Secret Garden Village was applying “Tri Hita Karana” (THK) concept to maintain sustainable tourism.

This article discusses the role of women in supporting sustainable tourism development in Bali by promoting Balinese cuisine to the tourism world. To date, studies on the role of Balinese women in the tourism industry have looked mainly at women as ordinary workers or professionals. In fact, Balinese women operate as culinary entrepreneurs who have not only been successful in introducing Balinese cuisine to the world of tourism but have opened up job opportunities for men and women alike. The data presented in this article was collected through observation of four leading Balinese women who run successful local culinary outlets or restaurants offering local dishes, and is complemented by interviews and other published sources relating to their business activities. The four pioneering women surveyed are Men Tempeh of Gilimanuk (West Bali) serving chicken betutu, the suckling pig restaurant manager Ibu Oka in Ubud, the owner of Made’s Warung Ni Made Masih, and the catering company owner Ibu Warti Buleleng, based in Denpasar. This article concludes that these four Balinese culinary heroines or srikandi have successfully managed to preserve and promote Balinese dishes to the world of tourism while contributing to the sustainable development of Balinese tourism by providing opportunities for tourists to experience local cuisine.

Tourism is the economic driver for many emerging countries, and the main key distribution components of wealth in the world. Globally, tourism generated over 10% of the world Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and provided an estimation of 115 million jobs in 2017. Moreover, the tourism sector consumed 1% of the global consumption of water. This paper reviews the current literature that focuses on water usage in tourism sector and water management initiatives in tourism in order to identify the current and future contrast between water demand and supply for sustainable tourism, and to understand the key issues and challenges facing water usage in Malaysia. Furthermore, the paper examines the linkages between tourism and water consumption, and analyses the trends in water consumption. The paper concludes by emphasizing the importance of improving and enhancing the existing water resources policies in order to conserve nature while promoting sustainable tourism industry.

Tourism is often seen as the ‘golden ticket’ for the development of many islands. The current COVID-19 pandemic, however, has ground global tourism to a halt. In particular, islands that depend heavily on tourist inflows—including mass-tourism islands, and small island developing states (SIDS)—have seen their revenues diminish significantly, and poverty rates increasing. Some alternative-tourism islands have fared better, as they have focused on providing personalized, nature-based experiences to mostly domestic tourists. This article focuses on the experiences of mass-tourism islands, SIDS, and alternative-tourism islands during the COVID-19 pandemic, and offers possible post-pandemic scenarios, as well as recommendations for sustainable island tourism development. Although the pandemic has largely had a negative impact on the tourism sector, this is a unique opportunity for many islands to review the paradigm of tourism development. In this newly emerging world, and under a still very uncertain future scenario, the quadriptych of sustainability is more important than ever. Responsible governance and management of islands’ natural resources and their tourism activities, addressing climate change impacts, the diversification of islands’ economies, and the promotion of innovative and personalized tourist experiences are all necessary steps towards increasing islands’ resilience in case of future economic downturn or health- and environment-related crises.

Nowadays, tourism is among the most important socio-economic sectors of the world economy, so the urgency of the problem under investigation is due to the need for sustainable development of tourism in Ukraine. The purpose of the article is to develop recommendations for the sustainable development of tourism in the world and in Ukraine, in particular, in the Carpathian region. To the leading methods of research problems of the article include the analysis of theoretical sources, analysis of statistical data, comparison. The article examined the essence of tourism, its categories, nature and factors of sustainable tourism development, studied the development trends of tourism in the world, analyzed the development of tourism in Ukraine and the Carpathian region, made the comparison of the indicators of tourism development in Ukraine and in other countries, identified problems of sustainable tourism development in Ukraine, ways of their decision are developed. The materials of the article have practical value for ensuring the sustainable development of tourism in Ukraine, in the Carpathian region or at the level of other regions of the country.

Issues of effective teaching and learning in tourism education by Toney K. Thomas reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of the application of skills in the industry. Joby Thomas and P. Pakkerappa in their article highlight the crucial role of HRD in airline industry to cope UP with the challenges of advancement in technology, changing market scenario, industry restructuring and more competitive business environment. Serangan sub-district as a potential area is a representation of Denpasar City Government’s policy on environmental conservation, historical and cultural values, the interests of the world of education, and the interests of cultural tourism full of attractions. The purpose of this study is to identify the role of social capital in the development of sustainable tourism in the Serangan Sub-District and to analyze the effect of government roles, community participation, and social capital on destination quality and sustainable tourism development in the Serangan sub-district. The result of this research shows that social capital norms in the Serangan sub-district has an important role in tourism development in the Serangan sub-district, where the norms in traditional villages in the Serangan sub-district are still very strong.

Village-owned Enterprises (BUMDes) are an important instrument in realizing dignified village autonomy. The existence of BUMDes is expected to be one of the main pillars of increasing village income so that it can provide higher quality public services. The management of local tourism potential is one of the prospective business alternatives for Village-Owned Enterprises. The involvement of BUMDes in tourism management is not only for economic purposes. BUMDes role in tourism is also mean to allow the preservation and development of local wisdom values in tourism. This article analyzes the pattern of localcharacter tourism development by BUMDes in three villages. Those are Mumpun Baru Village, Tanjung Lanjut Village, and Pendung Talang Genting Village in Jambi Province. The articles are written based on the research results conducted qualitatively in the Muaro Jambi, Kerinci, and Merangin areas with a purposive sampling method. The analysis shows that several things characterize the development of tourism through BUMDes, namely, tourism products, innovation or novelty in the development of tourism products, the preservation of local wisdom values, the institutional aspects of BUMDes, the contribution of tourism to the community's economy. In addition, managing tourism with BUMDes is key in supportingthe achievement of sustainable tourism which is the global agenda of countries around the world.

Tourism sector has been considered as the crucial sectors of many different countries of the world. And sustainable tourism brings enormous scope as a rapid growing economic sector on the basis of foreign exchange earnings and generation of employment opportunity and thereby elevating poverty from the country. The central aim of this study is to investigate the role of sustainable tourism in alleviating poverty from developing countries, especially the northern part of Bangladesh.  For this purpose, the different tourism sites have been selected that are situated in Rajshahi region like Padma Garden, Varendra Museum and Shaheed Kamruzzaman Zoo. Rajshahi, the major tourist destination region in Bangladesh which is very beautiful and flourished that has a great chance to contribute country’s infrastructure and economic development. This study conducts a survey on 200 respondents in three different places of Rajshahi through the structured questionnaires, observation, interview and literature review. An exploratory research method was employed because the nature of the study was descriptive due to the fact that most of the respondents were illiterate or semi   illiterate. Besides IBM SPSS Statistics 20 is being used to analyze the data. Through the factor analysis and other measurements tools this study expatiates the social, cultural, economic, environmental and other factors which touching the sustainability of Rajshahi and also provide recommendations about the required steps that needs to be taken into account to palliate and to manage the drawbacks of tourism to make Rajshahi as a sustainable tourism destination. Besides it reveals the relationship between tourism development and poverty alleviation in Bangladesh. The study also suggested few ways by which existing tourism can be promoted and well developed in Bangladesh thereby ensuring sustainable tourism development (STD) and economic growth.

Amungme Tribe, residing in Mimika Regency, has important roles in developing the Papua Province’s tourism sector. Up to now, this tribe has experienced various obstacles in developing its community and region. Authors conducted a qualitative-based method research to find strategies to elevate this tribe to have competitive advantages to increase its prosperity. In this research, surveys and in-depth interviews with relevant stakeholders were conducted in Timika City to generate effective strategies. Authors have designed a comprehensive approach, namely Amungme-Based Sustainable Tourism (ABST), which focuses on the development of 4Rs: Revitalization, Reconstruction, Remuneration, and Reconciliation. Through effective and efficient applications of 4Rs, it is expected that there will be great changes for Amungme Tribe and the community of Mimika Regency.

The journey of Collaboration for Sustainable Tourism Development has aimed high by keeping heads in the clouds and feet on the ground, to visit critical and optimistic possibilities for what sustainable tourism development was, is, and may become. This chapter gives substance to the potential of collaboration for sustainable tourism development by indicating the significance of imagina- tion. Envisaging tourism futures implies that tourism researchers, students, practitioners, policy makers – all stakeholders – engender other kinds of relationships, interactions and conversations to imagine what could be. It is a feasible process of designing with as an ethical, ongoing involvement of others through a respect for their ways of being in the world, their sense of values and aspirations for better tourism futures in a better world. In this chapter, we do so by leveraging the variations of interpretation represented in the making of this book and the previous fourteen chapters. This book encompasses philosophical, conceptual and empirical research to expose conditions, empirical circumstances and underpinning values. The contributions meet in the application of the concept of collaboration to uncover what sustainable tourism development was, and presently is, and signposts how unknown futures can be imagined. Imagining collaborative tourism futures is predicated on epistemological and mutually shared responsibilities. These obligations cannot alone be captured by academics engaged in a persistent quest for knowledge, critical dialogue and thinking tourism into the future. Responsibilities are intimately connected to a holistic understanding of collaborative engagements with the wider world in shaping desirable futures. Imaginations of collaborative tourism futures are a response to current limitations of sustainable tourism development, where we charter the contours of tourism futures to tackle wider societal problems.
