Substantial fluxes of protons and leptons with energies below the geomagnetic cutoff have been measured by the AMS experiment at altitudes of 370-390 Km, in the latitude interval ±51.7°. The production mechanisms of the observed trapped fluxes are investigated in detail by means of the FLUKA Monte Carlo simulation code. All known processes involved in the interaction of the cosmic protons with the atmosphere (detailed descriptions of the magnetic field atmospheric density, as well as the electromagnetic and nuclear interaction processes) are included in the simulation. The results are presented and compared with the experimental data, indicating good agreement with the observed fluxes. The impact of secondary proton flux on particle production in atmosphere is briefly discussed.

Two-particle correlations as a function of Δη and Δφ are used in many colliding systems to study a wide range of physical phenomena. Examples include the collective behavior of the quark-gluon plasma medium, jets, quantum statistics or Coulomb effects, conservation laws, and resonance decays. In this work, measurements of the correlations of identified particles and their antiparticles (for π, K, p, Λ) are reported in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV at low transverse momenta. The analysis reveals differences in particle production between baryons and mesons. The correlation functions for mesons exhibit the expected peak dominated by the effects of mini-jet fragmentation and are reproduced well by general purpose Monte Carlo generators. For baryon pairs where both particles have the same baryon number, an anti-correlation structure is observed instead of a peak centered at (Δη, Δφ) = (0, 0); an observation which presents a challenge to models typically used to describe pp data (PYTHIA, PHOJET). This baryon anti-correlation is further interpreted in the context of baryon production mechanisms in the fragmentation processes.

Light flavor hadron and inclusive charged particle spectra provide an interesting probe of the particle production mechanisms and the transport properties of QCD matter. Charged particle and neutral meson inclusive pT-differential cross sections in pp, p-Pb, Pb-Pb and Xe-Xe collisions have been measured by ALICE. Charged particles are studied in different multiplicity (for pp and p-Pb where available) and centrality classes (for A-A). The comparison of spectra at similar〈dNch/dη〉, the nuclear modification factors, the mean pTand particle ratios will also be presented considering those are observables important to get information on the properties of the medium formed in the collisions. Comparisons with model calculations will also be discussed.
