Validation of the Dutch Test of Conflict Handling in Chinese College Students

There are limitations in existing conflict management instruments used in China. Therefore, we translated the Dutch Test of Conflict Handling (DUTCH), and then examined the reliability and validity of this Chinese Revised version (DUTCH-CR). Participants were 2,035 college students at 4 universities in China. We conducted exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis on data from questionnaires completed by the participants. Our findings show that the DUTCH-CR is a reliable and valid instrument for measuring the handling of conflicts between Chinese college students. Further, we found that 4 conflict-handling styles are more suitable for Chinese college students. This was achieved by merging the problem-solving and compromising factors into a collaborating one, and retaining the yielding, avoiding, and forcing factors of the original DUTCH instrument.

Our objective was to revise the Positive and Negative Perfectionism Scale (PANPS) and then to test the reliability and validity of the Positive and Negative Perfectionism Scale-Chinese Revised (PANPS-CR). University students (N = 378) completed the PANPS, the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale, the Satisfaction With Life Scale, and the Positive and Negative Affect Scale. Two student samples (N = 519 and 458) completed the PANPS-CR. Results of Pearson's correlation coefficients, independent samples t tests, exploratory factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis showed that the PANPS-CR is a reliable and valid instrument to assess positive and negative aspects of perfectionism among Chinese college students.

In this study we assessed the regulatory emotional self-efficacy (RESE) of Chinese college students by collecting documentary resources and consulting relevant scales. The participants in the study were 927 college students from the provinces of Jiangsu, Guangdong, Anhui, and Gansu. Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were both applied in the scale analysis. The RESE scale of Chinese college students consisted of perceived self-efficacy in managing inferiority, happiness or contentment, envy, dread and fear, self-confidence, curiosity, and reliance. The cross-validity of the scale was satisfied.

Objective Under the guidance of the basic theory of AFL, a scientific and targeted measuring tool was initially developed to measure the perceived degree of college students’ Assessment for learning in physical education classroom and serve as an important basis for the implementation of AFL in physical education classroom. Methods according to the scale of the content framework, on the basis of expert interview and the inherent characteristics of AFL in the physical education classroom to form the initial questionnaire, used early 487 college students as object to the initial questionnaire for project analysis, to form the formal questionnaire, we used 391 college students as formal subjects was carried out the formal questionnaire by exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, test reliability and validity, to form the Perception Scale of AFL in College Students’ PE Class. Results The perception scale of AFL in College Students’ PE Class included 27 items, which were divided into four dimensions of learning diagnosis, goal clarification, process experience and result scaffold, which accounted for 64.253% of the total variation. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the fitting index was good (2/DF =2.819, GFI = 0.905, AGFI = 0.912, IFI = 0.905, CFI = 0.926, NFI = 0.943, RMSEA = 0.056). The overall internal consistency of the questionnaire was 0.895, the coefficients of each dimension were between 0.863 and 0.917, and the retest reliability was between 0.834 and 0.912. The scale as a whole has high calibration positive validity. Conclusion The Perception Scale of AFL in College Students’ PE Class compiled by this research has good differentiation, reliability and validity, and can be used as a measuring tool for Chinese college students’ perceived assessment for learning in physical education classroom.

This study aimed to revise the Chinese version of the Basic Empathy Scale for college students. The cluster random sampling method was used to select 805 college students from two universities to conduct confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, reliability analysis, and an independent samples t-test. The confirmatory factor analysis model illustrated that the two-factor model failed to fit the data, and the two-factor model with methodological effect was finally accepted. Therefore, the questionnaire exhibits a strong methodological effect among Chinese college students which requires further study. Emotional and cognitive empathy had a significant positive correlation with gratitude and Internet altruism behavior, which showed good convergent validity. The gender difference test revealed that the emotional empathy level of girls was significantly higher than that of boys. The revised Basic Empathy Scale showed acceptable reliability and validity.

AbstractTo examine the psychometric properties of the Norwegian version of the Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S), randomly selected individuals from a larger registry study were invited. We assessed the reliability and validity of the instrument in a sample of 1089 adults in Norway (response rate 73%). Internal consistency measured by Cronbach’s alpha (0.88) was acceptable. Omega alphaHierarchical (ωt = 0.69) was lower indicating that the general factor is less reliable, explaining 69% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the FCV-19S is not strictly unidimensional. Exploratory graph analysis and confirmatory factor analysis supported a two-factor model (cognitive and somatic fear), which were highly correlated (r = 0.84). The Norwegian version of the FCV-19S showed an underlying two-factor structure. However, the high correlation means the two latent factors (cognitive and somatic fear) act as indicators for a second-order general factor and support use of the FCV-19S sum score. The FCV-19S appears to be a valid instrument to assess fear of COVID-19 with good psychometric properties.

Background/Objectives: The purpose of this study is to find out the structural relationships among customer delight, exercise commitment, and psychological happiness to contribute developing exercise Apps. Methods/Statistical analysis: A questionnaire survey was conducted and 160 college students who are familiar with mobile exercise applications participated. The data analyzed with frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural correlation analysis. The validity and the reliability were obtained: customer delight (χ2=26.532, df=14, CFI=.985, TLI=.971, RMSEA=.075), exercise commitment (χ2=113.802, df=49, CFI=.956, TLI=.941, RMSEA=.091), and psychological happiness (χ2=15.338, df=8, CFI=.989, TLI=.980, RMSEA=.076, and Cronbach’s α=.906~.938).

Positive attitudes towards breastfeeding in health professionals/students have been associated with increasing their confidence to provide support and accompaniment to mothers. In Mexico, there is no valid/reliable tool to assess attitudes towards breastfeeding in this population. The Australian Breastfeeding Attitudes (and Knowledge) Questionnaire (ABAQ) measures attitudes in the Australian population. We aimed to adapt and validate the ABAQ in Mexican health students. We included 264 health students (nursing, nutrition, and medicine) from the University of Guadalajara. Bilingual translators carried out the Spanish adaptation with a reverse translation into English. Experts evaluated the content validity. Reliability was evaluated through an internal consistency analysis (Cronbach’s alpha) and construct validity through convergent–divergent validation, item–total correlation, exploratory factor analysis (by principal components), and confirmatory factor analysis. According to the exploratory factor analysis, only one component was identified. Seven items were removed (low correlation between items ≤0.2 and low factor load ≤0.3). The Cronbach’s alpha was 0.78. According to the confirmatory factor analysis, the one-factor solution of the ABAQ-13Mx showed a good model fit (X2 = 98.41, G = 62, p = 0.02, CFI = 0.940, and RMSEA = 0.048). The ABAQ-13Mx is a reliable and valid instrument for evaluating attitudes towards breastfeeding in Mexican health degree students.

Rumors are often shared in the marketplace about products, services, brands or organizations; both in the online as well as in the offline scenarios. These rumors get communicated from consumer to consumer in the form of Word of Mouth (WOM). An exhaustive review of literature identified four motivations for consumers to share rumors in the marketplace; which included anxiety management motivation, information sharing motivation, relationship management motivation and self enhancement motivation. The review was not conclusive in identifying any scales for the measurement of these motivations. The article develops a scale for measuring these four motivations. Structured interviews were initially conducted to identify 33 items that motivate a consumer to share rumors. Based on an exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis four factors were identified and the final scale retained 21 items. The scale displayed good scores of reliability and validity.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the psychometric properties of a brief version of the AF5 questionnaire (García & Musitu, 2001) using exploratory and confirmatory techniques on a preadolescent population in the Valencian community (Spain). The sample was made up of 541 participants between 10 and 12 years old, 55.1% (298) boys and 44.9% (243) girls. After observing the results of different reliability and validity analyses (exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA)), it was found that the reduced scale consisting of 20 items showed a similar reliability and validity to the original scale. The factorial structure also fits that of the original model established a priori. According to the results of the study, the use of this diagnostic tool with Spanish children seems justified.
