Incidences of noncompliance with COVID-19 prevention and control policies have occurred worldwide, increasing the risk to public safety and making epidemic control more difficult. We applied the approach–inhibition theory of power perception to investigate the underlying mechanisms and boundary conditions of the relationship between individuals' power perception and their prevention and control policy compliance. This study collected data from 303 participants in 45 counties (districts) spanning one province in China. Results show that individuals' sense of power was negatively related to their prevention and control policy compliance, with risk perception mediating and group policy control moderating this relationship. The findings provide a reference for assessing the effectiveness and relevance of government epidemic prevention and control. Implications for research and practice are discussed.

Regional regulatory policies (RPs) are a major factor in the prevention and control of chronic diseases (PCCDs) through the implementation of various measures. This study aimed to explore the impacts of RPs on PCCDs, with a focus on the mediating roles of community service. The soundness of the regulatory mechanism (SORM) was used to measure the soundness of RPs based on 1095 policy documents (updated as of 2015). Coverage provided by community service institutions (CSIs) and community health centres (CHCs) was used to represent community service coverage derived from the China Statistical Yearbook (2015), while the number of chronic diseases (NCDs) was used to measure the effects of PCCDs based on data taken from the 2015 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study survey. To assess the relationship between SORM, NCDs and community service, a negative binomial regression model and mediation analysis with bootstrapping were conducted. Results revealed that there was a negative correlation between SORM and NCDs. CSIs had a major effect on the relationship between RPs and PCCDs, while CHCs had a partial mediating effect. RPs can effectively prevent and control chronic diseases. Increased effort should also be aimed at strengthening the roles of CSIs and CHCs.

Mental Health inpatient units have a primary purpose of treating mental health problems, managing disturbance and promoting social contact and support networks. These factors can conflict with optimal infection prevention and control (IPC) measures.<br/> This commentary describes an IPC perspective of the challenges in managing the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic that are specific to acute mental health settings. It points out the main areas for IPC and mental health practice development.<br/> The need for a new paradigm in the relationship between IPC and mental health specialists is identified. Recent collaboration between mental health and IPC specialists in evaluating personal protective equipment (PPE) for use in restraint is outlined.

Infection Prevention And Control Is An Important Topic In The Delivery Of Quality Health Care Because It Aims At Protecting The Patient, The Health Worker, And The General Public. The Main Objective Of The Study Was To Determine Health Workers’ Compliance With Infection Prevention And Control Policy Guidelines During Health Care Delivery. A Cross-Sectional Design Using A Quantitative Method Was Used To Carry Out This Study In Which 143 Health Workers At The La General Hospital Were Selected Using A Stratified Sampling Method. The Data Collected Using A Structured Questionnaire Was Statistically Analyzed Using Chi-Square Test And Logistic Regression To Establish An Association Between The Dependent And Independent Variables Using A Significance Level Of P<0.05 At 95% Confidence Interval. The Results Indicated That Knowledge Of Infection Prevention And Control Among Health Workers Was High As 97% Had Adequate Knowledge, With 64% Of This Proportion Having Excellent Knowledge. Additionally, The Availability Of Infection Prevention Resources To Health Workers Always Was 31.4%; Non-Compliance Due To Time Constraints At Work Was 66.4%, And Compliance With Infection Prevention And Control Guidelines Was 30.7%. Time Constraint At Work Was Significantly Associated With Health Workers’ Compliance With Infection Prevention And Control (P = 0.001). The Paper Suggests That Regular In-Service Training On Infection Prevention And Control Must Be Continued To Improve The Standards Of Health Delivery Practice. Management Is Encouraged To Improve The Availability Of Infection Prevention Resources To Health Workers And To Duly Regulate Staff Workload In Order To Reduce Time Constraints And Prevent Burnout.

Abstract Objective This study systematically summarizes the COVID-19 prevention and control policies of Japan, Italy, China and Singapore in order to provide policy basis for other countries currently coping with the COVID-19 pandemic.Methods This study summarizes the epidemic prevention and control policies in Japan, Italy, China, and Singapore, and analyzes the effects of policies in the four countries using official statistics.Results As of May 27, 2020, the growth trend of new cases in Japan, Italy, China and Singapore has all stabilized. However, the cumulative number of confirmed cases (231139) and case-fatality rate (14.3%) in Italy far exceeded those in the other three countries, and the effect of epidemic control was inferior. Singapore began to experience a domestic resurgence after April 5, with a cumulative number of confirmed cases reaching 32876, but the case-fatality rate remained extremely low (0.1%). The growth of cumulative confirmed cases in China (84547) is almost stagnant, and the case-fatality rate is low (5.5%). The growth of cumulative confirmed cases in Japan (16661) increased slowly, and the case-fatality rate (4.8%) was slightly lower than that in China.Conclusion This study divides the epidemic prevention and control policies of the four countries into two categories: the blocking measures taken by China and Singapore, and the mitigation measures taken by Japan and Italy. According to the results of epidemic control in the four countries, we can conclude that the blocking measures are more effective. Pay attention to the admission of mild patients and cases tracking as the core strategy of blocking measures, which can be considered in countries all over the world.
