An experimental study on the vibration control of a single-degree-of-freedom model is carried out to verify market-based control (MBC) strategy effect. Results show that the MBC strategy can reduce both displacement and acceleration responses. Additionally, the MBC strategy is applied to a long-span bridge considering the travelling wave effect. Numerical simulations indicate that the displacement and acceleration responses of the long-span bridge with the travelling wave effect are smaller than those without, and the larger the velocity of travelling wave is, the better the control effect of MBC is. Based on the MBC theory and multimarket-based control (MMBC) presented here it is further applied to a large-space structure considering multiple dimensional features of structural model and ground motions. It is concluded that the MMBC strategy reduces the displacement response of the large-space structure, especially on vertical displacements, but has limited control effects on accelerations.

The vertical distance is generally greater of long-span cable-stayed bridge, while the velocity of seismic wave propagation is certain, therefore, the incentive suffered of long-span cable-stayed bridge’s pier is not the same time, but there is a certain time interval. Currently in the bridge designs, seismic response analysis is numerically based on coincident earthquake excitation, so that the actual results are different from the results of obtained widely. Based on the analysis of the traveling wave effect to the long-span cable-stayed bridge under the assumption of seismic waves, there are a series results of the bridge control point displacement, the maximum internal force of the earthquake response, and through these results, conclude some effective conclusions.

Taking the Longtan River Bridge as the engineering background , the seismic response analysis of high-pier and long-span continuous rigid-framed bridge considering travelling wave effect is simulated by means of the great mass method . Conclusions are drawn under asynchronous and synchronous excitation respectively , between which comparison indicates that the seismic responses for the main beams of continuous rigid-framed bridge are decreased at various degrees , such as the longitudinal horizontal displacement . The travelling wave effects on the piers are also related to the characteristics and locations of the bridge piers and so on .
