The object of the present paper is to study invariant submanifolds of f-Kenmotsu manifolds with respect to quarter symmetric metric connections. Some necessary and sufficient conditions for such submanifolds to be totally geodesic have been deduced. Also we construct an example of a submanifold of a five-dimensional f-Kenmotsu manifold to justify our results.

This paper deals with the study of invariant submanifolds of generalized Sasakian-space-forms with respect to Levi-Civita connection as well as semi-symmetric metric connection. We provide an example of such submanifolds and obtain many new results including the necessary and sufficient conditions under which the submanifolds are totally geodesic. The Ricci solitons of such submanifolds are also studied.

The object of the present paper is to deduce some necessary and sufficient conditions for invariant Submanifolds of paracontact (κ, µ)-spaces to be totally geodesic. We also establish that a totally umbilical invariant submanifold of a paracontact (κ, µ)-manifold is also totally geodesic. Some more necessary and sufficient conditions for a submanifold of a paracontact (κ, µ)-manifold to be totally geodesic have been deduced using parallelity and pseudo parallelity of the second fundamental form. In the last section we obtain some results on paracontact (κ, µ)-manifold with concircular canonical field.

The present paper deals with invariant submanifolds of CR-integrable almost Kenmotsu manifolds. Among others it is proved that every invariant submanifold of a CR-integrable (k,?)'-almost Kenmotsu manifold with k < -1 is totally geodesic. Finally, we construct an example of an invariant submanifold of a CR-integrable (k,?)'-almost Kenmotsu manifold which is totally geodesic.

In this paper, we introduce the notion of semi-invariant submanifolds of a normal almost paracontact manifold. We study their fundamental properties and the particular cases. The necessary and sufficient conditions are given for a submanifold to be invariant or anti-invariant. Also, we give some results for semi-invariant submanifolds of a normal almost paracontact manifold with constant c and we construct an example.

SynopsisLet Mn be a manifold supposed “nicely curved” isometrically immersed in ℝn+p. Starting from a generalised Gauss map associated to the splitting of the normal bundle defined from the values of the fundamental forms of M of order k (k ≧ 0), we give necessary and sufficient conditions for the map to be totally geodesic and harmonic . For k = 0 is the classical Gauss map and our formula reduces to Ruh–Vilm's formula with a more precise formulation due to the consideration of the splitting of the normal bundle. We also give necessary conditions for M, supposed complete, to admit an isometric immersion with . This theorem generalises a theorem of Vilms on the manifolds with second fundamental forms parallel (case k = 0). The result is interesting as the class of manifolds satisfying the condition is larger than the class of manifolds satisfying .

This paper has two aims. First, we show that the usual notion of umbilical maps between Riemannian manifolds does not work for Riemannian maps. Then we introduce a new notion of umbilical Riemannian maps between Riemannian manifolds and give a method on how to construct examples of umbilical Riemannian maps. In the second part, as a generalization of CR-submanifolds, holomorphic submersions, anti-invariant submersions, invariant Riemannian maps and anti-invariant Riemannian maps, we introduce semi-invariant Riemannian maps from Riemannian manifolds to almost Hermitian manifolds, give examples and investigate the geometry of distributions which are arisen from definition. We also obtain a decomposition theorem and give necessary and sufficient conditions for a semi-invariant Riemannian map to be totally geodesic. Then we study the geometry of umbilical semi-invariant Riemannian maps and obtain a classification theorem for such Riemannian maps.

We consider a nearly hyperbolic Sasakian manifold equipped with [Formula: see text]-structure and study non-invariant hypersurface of a nearly hyperbolic Sasakian manifold equipped with [Formula: see text]-structure. We obtain some properties of nearly hyperbolic Sasakian manifold equipped with [Formula: see text]-structure. Further, we find the necessary and sufficient conditions for totally umbilical non-invariant hypersurface with [Formula: see text]-structure of nearly hyperbolic Sasakian manifold to be totally geodesic. We also calculate the second fundamental form of a non-invariant hypersurface of a nearly hyperbolic Sasakian manifold with [Formula: see text]-structure under the condition when f is parallel.

AbstractIn the present paper, we study invariant submanifolds of almost Kenmotsu structures whose Riemannian curvature tensor has $$(\kappa ,\mu ,\nu )$$ ( κ , μ , ν ) -nullity distribution. Since the geometry of an invariant submanifold inherits almost all properties of the ambient manifold, we research how the functions $$\kappa ,\mu $$ κ , μ and $$\nu $$ ν behave on the submanifold. In this connection, necessary and sufficient conditions are investigated for an invariant submanifold of an almost Kenmotsu $$(\kappa ,\mu ,\nu )$$ ( κ , μ , ν ) -space to be totally geodesic under some conditions.

In this paper, we consider a Lagrangian Riemannian submersion from a Hermitian manifold to a Riemannian manifold and establish some basic inequalities to obtain relationships between the intrinsic and extrinsic invariants for such a submersion. Indeed, using these inequalities, we provide necessary and sufficient conditions for which a Lagrangian Riemannian submersion [Formula: see text] has totally geodesic or totally umbilical fibers. Moreover, we study the harmonicity of Lagrangian Riemannian submersions and obtain a characterization for such submersions to be harmonic.

It is proved that any co-isotropic submanifoldMof a pseudo-Sasakian manifoldM˜(U,ξ,η˜,g˜)is a CR submanifold (such submanfolds are called CICR submanifolds) with involutive vertical distributionν1. The leavesM1ofD1are isotropic andMisν1-totally geodesic. IfMis foliate, thenMis almost minimal. IfMis RicciD1-exterior recurrent, thenMreceives two contact Lagrangian foliations. The necessary and sufficient conditions forMto be totally minimal is thatMbe contactD1-exterior recurrent.
