The world population has been growing tremendously, which surged up the demand and enrolment in educational institutions to unimaginable level globally. Similarly, Malaysia has witnessed tremendous growth in higher education both in the order and establishment of new higher education institutions (HEIs) to match up with the demand. However, there is no commensurate increase in the student housing facilities to match up with the growing enrolment and demand; hence, accommodate a certain proportion of the total students. The paper explored qualitative methodology data from in-depth expert interviews of selected public and private universities in Malaysia; discussed the problems of HEIs student housing provision to four identified themes: student enrolment, government policy, funding and land issues as what exacerbated the issues. Therefore, challenges for student housing provision are enormous; hence HEIs and Government cannot adequately respond and satisfy the demand unless private housing developers actively involved otherwise problems of student housing provision will continue to persist.

Education has been considered as an indispensable asset of every individual, community and nation today. Indias higher education system is the third largest in the world, after China and the United States (World Bank). Tamil Nadu occupies the first place in terms of possession of higher educational institutions in the private sector in the country with over 46 percent(27) universities, 94 percent(464) professional colleges and 65 percent(383) arts and science colleges(2011). Studies to understand the profile of the entrepreneurs providing higher education either in India or Tamil Nadu were hardly available. This paper attempts to map the demographic profile of the entrepreneurs providing higher education in Arts and Science colleges in Tamil Nadu through an empirical analysis, carried out among 25 entrepreneurs spread across the state. This paper presents a summary of major inferences of the analysis.

There is a gap between the outcomes of higher education and the demands of competence in the workplace (Observation Teichler, 1997, 1999; Yorke and Knight, 2006). It is necessary to anticipate and evaluation conducted by the universities to the needs of the working world of the competence of its graduates. For this reason, preaches study program of Healing and Counseling at University of Al Azhar Indonesia needs to put through research, whether Healing and Counseling Program will be able to achieve the vision of its mission into educational institutions that can print a preacher who can do the required counseling Islam in society and the world of work today . This study aims for Healing and Counseling Studies Program to conduct an evaluation of the competencies needed by the real world of work in society and to adapt appropriate teaching curriculum. The results showed that the competence of graduates of Healing and Counseling Program UAI was needed in the world of work and competence in the appropriate field for Healing and Counseling is generally associated with human resources (HR) or Human Resources Department, namely as a counselor, therapist, spiritual counselor / preachers, volunteers for various family problems, physical, educational, religious, Islamic law, and violence.

The duty higher education has toward society, the role for-profit educational institutions play in enhancing the public good, and the prospect of making social change an element of these providers’ missions are discussed. Laureate’s Global Citizenship Project is introduced, highlighting the development of the project’s civic engagement rubric and the challenges of assessing civic engagement.</p>

Since the world has rapidly turned into the global village in very short span of time by entering into the 21st Century. The advanced communication has made everything available at the door steps. Huge developments in every sphere of life have been taken place despite human beings have still been accomplishing much-more out of which the inequity and gender disparity is one of those concerns being faced by the world. Now days mostly Pakistani women are active to take part in every field like health, politics even in labor and especially in education sector from lower to higher education. Pakistani women are also playing the important role in the field of education specifically in educational administrative positions from lower to higher education. This research study intended to measure the magnitude of gender disparity in educational institutions of District Shaheed Benazirabad (SBA) of Province Sindh, Pakistan. This research study was quantitative by method and descriptive in nature. The population of this research study was, those women leaders working in educational institutions of District Shaheed Benazirabad, and were performing leadership role in one or other way. The sample of this study was 48 women leaders having proportion of seventy percent of the total population. The data was analyzed through SPSS software, 22 version. This research study found that women leaders working in higher educational institutions have least career related opportunities, they are also put on distance to possess managerial and administrative opportunities and have least support from their high ups and stakeholders as compare to their counter gender in higher educational institutions of District Shaheed Benazirabad. This research study recommended that the women leaders might be given career, managerial and administrative related opportuinities and support and encouragement from their high ups and stakeholders for carrying out their leadership responsibilities.

Purpose This paper aims to study waqf practice in Pakistan with regard to its utilisation in funding for higher educational institutions (HEIs) and investigates waqf raising, waqf management and waqf income utilisation. Design/methodology/approach The paper is based on the views of 11 participants who are actively involved in the waqf, its raising, management and income utilisation, and is divided into three subcategories: personnel of higher educational waqf institution, personnel of waqf regulatory bodies and Shari’ah and legal experts as well as archival records, documents and library sources. Findings In Pakistan, both public and private awqaf are existing, but the role of private awqaf is greater in higher education funding. However, due to lack of legal supervision private awqaf is considered as a part of the not-for-profit sector and legitimately registered as a society, foundation, trust or a private limited company. Waqf in Pakistan is more focusing on internal financial sources and waqf income. In terms of waqf management, they have firm guidelines for investing in real estate, the Islamic financial sector and various halal businesses. Waqf uses the income for developmental and operational expenditure, and supports academic activities for students and staff. Waqfs are also supporting some other HEIs and research agencies. Thus, it can be revealed that a waqf can cater a sufficient amount for funding higher educational institutions. Research limitations/implications In Pakistan, both public and private awqaf are equally serving society in different sectors, but the role of private awqaf is much greater in funding higher education. Nevertheless, the government treats private awqaf as a part of not-for-profit sector in the absence of a specific legal framework and registers such organisations as society, foundation, trust or private limited company. The waqf in Pakistan mostly relies on internal financial resources and income from waqf assets. As the waqf managers have over the time evolved firm guidelines for investment in real estate, Islamic financial sector and various other halal businesses, and utilisation of waqf income on developmental and operational expenditures, academic activities of students and educational staff, other HEIs and research agencies, it can be proved that the waqf can potentially generate sufficient amount for funding HEIs. Practical implications The study presents the waqf as a social finance institution and the best alternative fiscal instrument for funding works of public good, including higher education, with the help of three selected waqf cases. Hence, the paper’s findings offer some generalisations, both for the ummah at large and Pakistan. Social implications The paper makes several policy recommendations for policymakers, legislators and academicians, especially the government. As an Islamic social finance institution, the waqf can help finance higher education anywhere around the world in view of the fact that most countries grapple with huge fiscal deficits and are hence financially constrained to meet growing needs of HEIs. Originality/value The study confirms that the waqf can be an alternative source for funding higher education institutions whether it is managed by the government or is privately controlled.

Since 1994 and the coming of democracy to South Africa there has been a concerted attempt to develop a coherent, unified educational system that will redress the inequities of the apartheid systems. Significant to this ongoing process is the field of higher education, where relevant legislation has been enacted in order to bring coherence and consistency to the education system in the public and private sectors. Significant issues have arisen with regard to the provision made by private religious educational institutions, especially those who have experienced difficulties in being accredited by statutory bodies. This paper seeks to explore these issues and suggest ways forward that are appropriate within an emerging unitary system of education that is fit for purpose in Africa and particularly South Africa, taking as a case study the formation of the Association of Christian Religious Practitioners.

Abstract Studentification is a global phenomenon that has been prominent in urban geographical discourse since the large-scale expansion of higher education in the early 1990s. In many developed and developing world countries, expansion in student enrolment has outstripped the ability of institutions of higher learning to provide adequate accommodation. Similar trends have been recorded in South Africa. The task of this paper is to investigate studentification as experienced in one of South Africa’s secondary cities. The paper draws attention to the economic, socio-cultural, and physical characteristics of this form of student housing on host locations. It is argued that studentification holds both positive and negative impacts for the host communities of Bloemfontein. Finally, it is suggested that studentification in South Africa requires greater research attention.


The purpose of this study was to investigate and evaluate the level of satisfaction of the English Major students with their Foundation English course. To this end, a questionnaire was administered to students currently pursuing the course, as well as students who had completed the course. The motive was to compare the results of the two sets of responses to see if both sets of students felt the same regarding the foundation English curriculum. The questionnaire was self-administered, through Google forms. The study threw light on the responsibilities of educational institutions in understanding that higher education is a service industry. It also highlighted the need for educational institutions to realize that they need to satisfy the needs and the expectations of students, parents, and employers. These three are the main stakeholders in the education industry today. Syllabus framers too have to accept that changes are imminent and make more than cosmetic changes to accommodate changes in the world outside. Students should be roped into the curriculum framing committees as they know what they need and what is not being delivered to them. Giving importance to the aspirations of students is unavoidable. It is hoped that this study would throw light on the expectations of students so that necessary changes may be made in the curriculum and thereby bring about the desired learning outcomes.

This study aims to determine the preferenceof prospective students and students in selecting universities in Gorontalo Province.This research uses a quantitative approach by conducting a survey to a number ofprospective students who enroll in a number of universities or universities inGorontalo. The results of research show the most considered factors by respondents(students and students) in choosing a college to continue study is the choice of studyprogram, preferences in choosing a college is the reputation of a college and theencouragement of parents. Costs are no longer the most calculated factor in theselection of universities.

In the context of globalization trends of innovative development of the preschool education system, the problems of the content of professional training of specialists of preschool educational institutions, in particular in foreign countries of the world, become especially relevant. Training a competitive in the labor market, highly qualified, professionally competent, creative specialist who is fluent in the acquired skills and abilities, strives for professional growth, social and professional mobility, is the important aspect of education system.The article reflects the current trends in education in the world, cultural centuries-old relations between these countries, the specifics of their cultural and national traditions and manifests itself in the value-based principles on which this training is based, in its structure, content and organization; the general and special in training of experts of preschool education abroad in modern conditions is revealed. Thus, preschools in Denmark are known for the high quality of pedagogical work, whose activities are aimed at developing educational potential and the formation of psychological, pedagogical and social skills of children, stimulating their imagination, creativity and speech skills, involvement in cultural values and nature; the training of future educators in France takes place both in the institutions of higher education and in the system of secondary special education and involves a change in the structure and content of education.In Germany, specialist training takes place in secondary special institutions, in particular, social and pedagogical colleges. In the modern training of educators there is a strengthening of the methodological and didactic side, but in many respects it focuses on the didactics and methods of teaching primary school. The responsibility for the professional education of educators of the Belarusian preschool institutions is assigned to pedagogical colleges and institutions of higher education. The level of teacher training determines his social status and includes: training of general educators; specialists in new specialties in colleges; educators for preschool educational institutions of new types; social, correctional teachers, teachers-rehabilitation specialists, psychologists and heads of a separate profile; teachers-managers. The conditions of training of educators of preschool institutions China and Turkey are also characterized.Key words: future educators, professional training, institution of higher education, foreign experience, pedagogical process, applicants for education. У контексті глобалізаційних тенденцій інноваційного розвитку системи дошкільної освіти особливої актуальності набувають проблеми змісту професійної підготовки фахівців дошкільних навчальних закладів, зокрема в зарубіжних країнах світу. Підготовка конкурентоздатного на ринку праці, висококваліфікованого, професійно компетентного, креативного спеціаліста, який вільно володіє набутими вміннями і навичками, прагне до професійного зростання, соціальної і фахової мобільності, – важливий аспект системи освіти.У статті відображаються сучасні тенденції розвитку освіти у світі, культурні багатовікові відносини між цими країнами, специфіка їх культурних національних традицій проявляється в ціннісно-цільових засадах, на яких будується ця підготовка, в її структурі, змісті та організації; виявлено загальне й осо-бливе в підготовці фахівців дошкільної освіти за кордоном в сучасних умовах. Так, дошкільні установи в Данії відомі високою якістю педагогічної роботи, діяльність яких спрямована на розвиток навчаль-ного потенціалу та формування психологічних, педагогічних і соціальних навичок дітей, стимуляцію їх фантазії, творчості та мовленнєвих навичок, на залучення до культурних цінностей і природи; під-готовка майбутніх вихователів Франції відбувається як у ЗВО, так і в системі середньої спеціальної освіти й передбачає зміну структури та змісту освіти.У Німеччині підготовка фахівця відбувається в середньо-спеціальних установах, зокрема соціаль-но-педагогічних технікумах. У сучасній підготовці вихователів є посилення методико-дидактичної сторони, але ж багато в чому вона орієнтується на дидактику та методику навчання початкової шко-ли. Відповідальність за професійну освіту вихователів ЗДО Білорусі покладено на педагогічні коледжі й ЗВО. Рівень підготовки фахівців визначає його соціальний статус і передбачає: підготовку виховате-лів загального профілю; фахівців за новими спеціальностями в коледжах; вихователів для дошкільних освітніх установ нових типів; соціальних, корекційних педагогів, педагогів-реабілітологів, психологів і керівників окремого профілю; педагогів-управлінців. Також схарактеризовано умови підготовки вихо-вателів ЗДО Китаю та Туреччини.Ключові слова: майбутні вихователі, професійна підготовка, заклад вищої освіти, зарубіжний досвід, педагогічний процес, здобувачі освіти.
