The vast majority of skin cancer deaths are from melanoma, with about 1.04 million cases annually. Early detection of the same can be immensely helpful in order to try to cure it. But most of the diagnosis procedures are either extremely expensive or not available to a vast majority, as these centers are concentrated in urban regions only. Thus, there is a need for an application that can perform a quick, efficient, and low-cost diagnosis. Our solution proposes to build a server less mobile application on the AWS cloud that takes the images of potential skin tumors and classifies it as either Malignant or Benign. The classification would be carried out using a trained Convolution Neural Network model and Transfer learning (Inception v3). Several experiments will be performed based on Morphology and Color of the tumor to identify ideal parameters.

Abstract Most current medical imaging Artificial Intelligence (AI) relies upon transfer learning using convolutional neural networks (CNNs) created using ImageNet, a large database of natural world images, including cats, dogs, and vehicles. Size, diversity, and similarity of the source data determine the success of the transfer learning on the target data. ImageNet is large and diverse, but there is a significant dissimilarity between its natural world images and medical images, leading Cheplygina to pose the question, “Why do we still use images of cats to help Artificial Intelligence interpret CAT scans?”. We present an equally large and diversified database, RadImageNet, consisting of 5 million annotated medical images consisting of CT, MRI, and ultrasound of musculoskeletal, neurologic, oncologic, gastrointestinal, endocrine, and pulmonary pathologies over 450,000 patients. The database is unprecedented in scale and breadth in the medical imaging field, constituting a more appropriate basis for medical imaging transfer learning applications. We found that RadImageNet transfer learning outperformed ImageNet in multiple independent applications, including improvements for bone age prediction from hand and wrist x-rays by 1.75 months (p<0.0001), pneumonia detection in ICU chest x-rays by 0.85% (p<0.0001), ACL tear detection on MRI by 10.72% (p<0.0001), SARS-CoV-2 detection on chest CT by 0.25% (p<0.0001) and hemorrhage detection on head CT by 0.13% (p<0.0001). The results indicate that our pre-trained models that are open-sourced on public domains will be a better starting point for transfer learning in radiologic imaging AI applications, including applications involving medical imaging modalities or anatomies not included in the RadImageNet database.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a worldwide catastrophe. Its impact, not only economically, but also socially and in terms of human lives, was unexpected. Each of the many mechanisms to fight the contagiousness of the illness has been proven to be extremely important. One of the most important mechanisms is the use of facemasks. However, the wearing the facemasks incorrectly makes this prevention method useless. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and especially facial recognition techniques can be used to detect misuses and reduce virus transmission, especially indoors. In this paper, we present an intelligent method to automatically detect when facemasks are being worn incorrectly in real-time scenarios. Our proposal uses Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) with transfer learning to detect not only if a mask is used or not, but also other errors that are usually not taken into account but that may contribute to the virus spreading. The main problem that we have detected is that there is currently no training set for this task. It is for this reason that we have requested the participation of citizens by taking different selfies through an app and placing the mask in different positions. Thus, we have been able to solve this problem. The results show that the accuracy achieved with transfer learning slightly improves the accuracy achieved with convolutional neural networks. Finally, we have also developed an Android-app demo that validates the proposal in real scenarios.

Abstract Information fusion is an important part of numerous neural network systems and other machine learning models. However, there exist some problems about fusion in scene understanding and recognition of complex environment, such as difficulty in feature extraction, small sample size and interpretability of the model. Deep reinforcement learning can combine the perception ability of deep learning with the decision-making ability of reinforcement learning to learn control strategies directly from high-dimensional original data. However, It faces these challenges, such as low optimization efficiency, poor generality of network model, small labeled samples, explainable decisions for users without a strong background on Artificial Intelligence (AI). Therefore, at the level of application and theoretical research, this paper aims to solve the above problems,the main contributions include: (1)optimize the feature representation methods based on spatial-temporal feature of the behavior characteristics in the scene, deep metric learning between adjacent layers and cross-layer learning theory, and then propose a lightweight reinforcement learning network model to solve these problems of the complexity of the model to be explained, the difficulty of extracting feature and the difficulty of tuning parameter; (2)construct the self-paced learning strategy of the deep reinforcement learning model, introduce transfer learning mechanism in the optimization process, and solve the problem of low optimization efficiency and small labeled samples; (3)design the behavior recognition framework of the multi-perspective deep knowledge transfer learning model, construct a explainable behavior descriptor, and solve the problems of poor network generality and weak 1explanation of network. Our research is of great theoretical and practical significance in the fields of artificial intelligence and public security.
