Two earthworm species from central Mexico are described: Protozapotecia acaxetlensis sp. nov. and Protozapotecia oya-metlensis sp. nov. Delimitation of species was supported by morphological and molecular evidence. The two new species differ from the other species of Protozapotecia by the position of the prostates in segments 18 and 20. This morphological characteristic relates them to the genus Diplocardia, from which they differ by the presence of two gizzards separated by a muscular septum (Protozapotecia), instead of two gizzards fused as one, separated by a thin membranous septum in intersegment 5/6 (Diplocardia).

AbstractExamination of 122 specimens ofXanthogrammaSchiner, 1861 (Diptera: Syrphidae) from varied localities in Europe (+Turkey) resulted in the description of two new species (X. aeginaeRicarte, Nedeljković, and Vujićnew speciesandX. pilosumNedeljković, Ricarte, and Vujićnew species), as well as new data on six other species. Most of the examined material originated from the Balkan Peninsula and Greek islands. New species concepts were supported by morphological and molecular evidence. Relationships among the eight studied species were analysed and discussed based on the data of nuclear (ITS2) and mitochondrial (COI) genes sequences. An identification key to the European species ofXanthogrammais provided. Lectotypes are designated forDoros decoratumZetterstedt, 1843,Lasiophthicus novusRondani, 1857,Syrphus laetusFabricius, 1794,Syrphus ornatusMeigen, 1822, andXanthogramma nobilitatumFrey, 1946.

A synopsis of the metallic carpenter bees Xylocopa subgenus Schonnherria Lepeletier in Colombia is presented. Eleven species were recognized: X. dimidiata Latreille, X. ecuadorica Cockerell, X. lateralis Say, X. lucida Smith, X. metallica Smith, X. muscaria (Fabricius), X. ornata Smith, X. viridis Smith, and X. simillima Smith, being this latter a new record for the country. In addition, two new species are described: X. auriventris n. sp. and X. romeroi n. sp. from the Colombian Andean and Pacific region, respectively. To stabilize the application of some names, lectotypes were designated for X. binotata Pérez (=X. lateralis), X. muscaria, X. ornata, X. simillima and X. viridis. Diagnoses, descriptions, comments, floral records, distribution maps, figures and an identification key are also provided.

Two new species of rhacophorid frogs in the genus Theloderma are described from high-elevation montane forest on the Kon Tum and Langbian Plateaus in Vietnam, on the basis of morphological and molecular evidence. Both new species are differentiated morphologically from their congeners by their small body size (Theloderma, and are distinct from all congeners sampled (uncorrected sequence divergences at the 16S rRNA gene of >8.5% for all Theloderma for which homologous 16S rRNA sequences are available). The new species are differentiated from each other by dorsal pattern, extent of dorsal asperities, and by mitochondrial DNA.

Members of the family Coralliidae, known as precious corals, are ecologically and economically important deep-sea or-ganisms. However, these organisms are currently threatened by commercial harvesting. In order to create and implementeffective conservative strategies, taxonomic knowledge of conservative targets is necessary, but unfortunately the taxon-omy of precious corals in this family is still ambiguous. This study provides a review of 15 Coralliidae species from thenorthern West Pacific region and a key to species identification. In addition, descriptions of two new species, Coralliumcarusrubrum n. sp. and C. taiwanicum n. sp., as well as a redescription of C. sulcatum Kishinouye, 1903 are included.Corallium carusrubrum n. sp. is distributed on seamounts off northeastern Taiwan. The autozooids of C. carusrubrum n.sp. are retractile and each can be fully withdrawn into the cortex thereby causing a mound on the surface which is shortand cylindrical rather than typically hemispherical; additionally, there are no long spindles in their tentacles. Coralliumtaiwanicum n. sp. is distributed in an area off southwestern Taiwan. It has special unique 8-radiates with an oval shapeand large projections. Corallium sulcatum is distributed from an area off southwestern Taiwan to western Japan. It hasbeen harvested and traded for decades, but there were no illustrations in its original description, hence a redescription of this species is provided.

Two new species of Leccinellum, viz. L. alborufescens and L. fujianense are described based on morphological and molecular evidence. Both species have a rugulose or pitted brown pileus, a red color change of hymenophore and context, and a pileipellis and stipitipellis composed of chains of subglobose to pyriform cells. The differences between them are the width of the hyphae in the pileipellis and the range of distribution as well as the molecular data. Leccinellum alborufescens has hyphae in the pileipellis up to 13 μm in width, and a distribution in tropical China, whereas L. fujianense has pileipellis hyphae up to 20 μm in width, and a distribution in subtropical China. Detailed descriptions, color photos of fresh basidiomata and line drawings of the microstructures of the two new species are presented.
