In order to achieve simultaneous, worldwide high quality assurance and other global production developments, Advanced TPS was proposed as a global production technology and management model, especially designed to realize high productivity and cost performance in global production. On this model, the inventory management is the key method at any manufacturing facility operating with Just-in-Time (JIT). On the other hand, the current inventory systems at manufacturing facilities do not provide real inventory data. So out-of-stock conditions sometimes have caused major productivity losses by causing the production line to stop. Therefore, the authors have proposed to create component inventory tool, which RFID tag can be replaced onto the containers with the trial parts and thus both the supplier and main manufacturing facility. This tool could provide constant feedback to ordering, logistics, and assembly conveyance groups in order to maintain and improve current JIT system. Concretely, this can also provide current information on components being shipped by the supplier and list what items are available in the production area by part number and supplier. The effectiveness of this proposal has been verified into Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas (TMMTX), which is unique for onsite supplier locations. This has been proven that RFID can prove to be an efficient tool with which to track inventory and generate cost savings.

Many organizations are faced with a decision to choose between two inventory systems namely JIT (Just in Time) and EOQ (Economic Order Quantity). This thesis models the cost drivers into the EOQ model and extends it to the JIT scenario. They include cost savings like space, synergy of coordination, and other cost factors like rework and penalty costs. It looks at the total cost of the supply chain with two players and calculates space in terms of storage spaces of equal capacity. Results showed that considering space in EOQ brought savings to the chain. It has brought down the order quantity closer to, and many times equal to JIT ordering quantities. Coordination in the chain has brought further savings. Moving to JIT (ordering daily supply of demand) from the point, where space is accounted and there is coordination between the two levels, did not require much reduction in ordering costs.

AimsElimination of non-value added testing without compromising high-quality clinical care is an important mandate for laboratories in a value-based reimbursement system. The goal of this study was to determine the optimal combination of flow cytometric markers for a screening approach that balances efficiency and accuracy.MethodsAn audit over 9 months of flow cytometric testing was performed, including rereview of all dot plots from positive cases.ResultsOf the 807 cases in which leukaemia/lymphoma testing was performed, 23 were non-diagnostic and 189 represented bronchoalveolar lavage specimens. Of the remaining 595 cases, 137 (23%) were positive for an abnormal haematolymphoid population. Review of the positive cases identified minimum requirements for a screening tube as well as analysis strategies to overcome the diagnostic pitfalls noted. It is estimated that 38% fewer antibodies would be used in a screening approach, representing an opportunity for significant cost savings.ConclusionsWe provide a framework for developing an evidence-based screening combination for cost-effective characterisation of haematolymphoid malignancies, promoting adoption of ‘just-in-time’ testing systems that tailor the evaluation to the diagnostic need.

Implementing a just-in-time (JIT) inventory management strategy seems to be the latest hot topic in the business world, particularly in manufacturing industries. In today's competitive supply chain environment, more and more companies are either adopting JIT methodology or at least beginning to research and understand how JIT would affect their business. But what exactly is JIT? Many companies may be already putting into practice some of the concepts of JIT – such as looking at always improving or trying to reduce waste in terms of product or labor steps. Some companies may be fully ready to embrace a JIT operating process; yet, perhaps JIT is not the best choice for their business. The goal of this chapter is to develop a better understanding of JIT, from this history behind its inception to the various risks and benefits that relate to adopting JIT from an interdisciplinary/strategic approach to a transdisciplinary viewpoint. Those strategies, which include the basic methods of minimum stock, economic order quantity (EOQ), and Safety stock methods, are explored and explained in this chapter.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a challenging wireless technology with a great potential for supporting supply and inventory management. In this chapter the authors consider a particular application in which a group of tagged items are scanned to generate a record of simultaneous presence called a grouping-proof. Grouping-proofs can be used, for instance, to guarantee that drugs are shipped (or dispensed) accompanied by their corresponding information leaflets, to couple the user’s electronic passport with his/her bags, to recognize the presence of groups of individuals and/or equipment and more generally to support the security of supply and inventory systems. Although it is straightforward to design solutions when the verifier is online since it is sufficient for individual tags to authenticate themselves to the verifier, interesting security engineering challenges arise when the trusted server (or verifier) is not online during the scan activity. So, the field of grouping-proofs is very active, and many works have been published so far. This chapter details the setting for RFID grouping-proofs and discuss the threat model for such applications. The authors analyze some of the grouping-proofs proposed in the literature describing their advantages and disadvantages. Then, general guidelines for designing secure grouping-proofs are proposed. Finally, some examples of grouping-proofs that are provably secure in a strong security framework are presented.

The aim of the research is the theoretical justification and practical implementation of the new method of irrigation irrigation and drainage machines Frigat with hydraulic drive for complex tasks of modernization and energy consumption. The object of the study is an experimental speedadjusting crane installed on a water reclamation machine. The studies were conducted in comparison with indicators of machine production. In the course of research it was found that the existing technology does not meet the requirements of irrigation and drainage and has a low degree of economic efficiency. The issue of uneven distribution of the owner by area, high productivity and low cost of maintenance is being addressed. DM Frigat, which allows you to work on the proposed technologies, does not require the cost of modernization and seasonal maintenance. In order to increase cost savings and develop new models of machines, a speed control crane has been developed and tested to reduce the risk of machine destruction. The operation of the trolley is the horizontal arrangement of the trolley. The speed of the machine can be increased. Thus, regulation of the irrigation rate occurs. The resulting economic effect allows us to argue about the positive results in the studies

AbstractIn a well-organized company, stock levels are precisely planned. In order to optimize inventory, various analyses of inventory usage are carried out in terms of them quantity and status. The work presents research on improving the method of managing inventory in the tire industry using the example of a selected company. The company operates warehouses in which tires for passenger cars and vans are stored. Products stored in warehouses ensure high standards. The company focuses on individuality and has a strong market position. The paper presents the results of the ABC and XYZ analysis that allow grouping tires by demand, value and number. The criteria for choosing the ABC/XYZ method are a simple way of use and low financial outlays, in contrast to such methods as MRP or just in time. Furthermore, calculations of such standards as rotation ratios for individual seasons and optimal inventory were carried out. The rotation indicator allows determine which goods are sold quickly and which goods are selling poorly, and therefore the costs associated with their storage are probably higher than from the sale of profits. As a result of the analysis, improvements were made to the inventory management system. The implementation of the proposed methods and tools for inventory management allowed the company to eliminate unnecessary inventories, reduce storage costs and minimize inventory control.
