A case study which comprehensively elaborated the role of Porsea people movement and its surrounding to urge the present of government policy and decision series, considering with the establishment of PT. Inti Indorayon Utama in Porsea, Toba Samosir, North Sumatra. Data collecting was through literary works, institutional publishing, research documents, chronology, contact report and investigation, news clipping, letters, press release and statement, and last but not least was the participative observation and deep interview. Afterwards, the data was analyzed and interpreted with reference to social movement theories and their relationship with the public policy change. The finding of this research reveals that there has been no single factor or certain theoretical approach monopoly in explaining social movement comprehensively. The movement also has shown up two contributions all at once: trigging and influencing the government newly released policies and stimulating the company's new management to be more active in serving and developing the surrounding people. Both of these were possible to happen because of the people movement, without great expectancy to the complex and distortive state actors parliament and bureaucracy.

The condition of the state border area between Indonesia and Malaysia is totally different. Children of Indonesian Workers (TKI) have no (limited) access to learn in formal schools since they do not have citizenship documents. This study aims to analyze the implementation of basic education mission in the border area, particularly in Sebatik island, Nunukan regency, North Kalimantan province. In addition, the research was conducted using qualitative explorative approach. Problems arising at the border area are very diverse and systemic. The Indonesian government conducts the education in border areas still very limitedly. The role of the public, corporate and private companies (Three Net Working) becomes very important in operating the schools in border area. The role of a former lecturer who is famously called Mrs. Midwife Suraidah is very dominant in helping TKI’s children to learn a variety of knowledge in Sekolah Tapal Batas (Tapal Batas School) in Sebatik island, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan province. Some help from companies such as Pertamina (national oil mining company), Dompet Dhuafa foundation and volunteers who are willing to be teachers strongly support the continuously of Tapal Batas School. The continuity of basic education in the state border becomes a challenge for the government since the purpose of the country written in the opening of Constitution 1945 is the intellectual life of the nation can be realized by implementing it in Nawacita program.

This study is about the changing role of traditional leaders called punyimbang in pepadun community. This research was conducted in the village of Terbanggi Besar, Terbanggi Besar District of Central Lampung regency. This research was motivated by the social and cultural changes taking place in society. The research is a qualitative research method of case study that compares difference conditions punyimbang role ago and today. The results of this study are firstly the social and cultural changes that occurred in the community so that the role punyimbang the first switch and always involved in every aspect of community life is starting at left, second, the factors that cause changes in this role is the modernization that began touching indigenous peoples pepadun village Terbanggi great so that people began to leave things that are traditional, third, these changes have an impact on the conflict in the community, due to the people lost figure punyimbang that exemplifies the good things that people are starting to do a lot of irregularities such as conflict between villages, spoliation, and the conflict between generations, fourth, related to the changing role of public response punyimbang happens is people still assume the existence punyimbang needed as long as there customary held by the public but does not bind as before.

As the COVID-19 pandemic took hold in 2020, Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) entered the public spotlight like never before. Amidst this increased visibility, the role is deeply contested. Much of the disagreement concerns whether CMOs should act independently of the government: while some argue CMOs should act as independent voices who work to shape government policy to protect public health, others stress that CMOs are civil servants whose job is to support the government. The scope and diversity of debates about the CMO role can be explained by its inherently contradictory nature, which requires incumbents to balance their commitments as physicians with their mandates as civil servants who advise and speak on the government’s behalf. The long-haul COVID-19 pandemic has further tested the CMO role and has shone light on its varying remits and expectations across different jurisdictions, institutions and contexts. It is perhaps unsurprising, then, that calls to amend the CMO role have emerged in some jurisdictions during the pandemic. However, any discussions about changing the CMO role need a stronger understanding of how different institutional and individual approaches impact what incumbents feel able to do, say and achieve. Based on an ongoing comparative analysis of the position across five countries with Westminster-style political systems, we provide an overview of the CMO role, explain its prominence in a pandemic, examine some debates surrounding the role and discuss a few unanswered empirical questions before describing our ongoing study in greater detail.

The purpose of this study was to determine the role of education and how the involvement of governments, companies and communities themselves in promoting education in the area, which in this case took the case to at Riau, Indonesia. Total population of this research was that people in the district of Pinggir Bengkalis, and the samples were 24 people who were in the villages of Pinggir. The research methodology was descriptive quantitative. The research data was collected through questionnaires and documentation. The calculation of data indicated that the public perception on role of education in promoting the society generally looked very good with most of percentage above 90%. Then, the achievement showed good results in the involvement of the company in advancing education. Then, the government has completed educational facilities in the area according to public perception showed the lowest yield with enough categories or 65.8%. The average score showed that the role of education was in very good category or 90.5%. Therefore, it certainly needs to be given priority in local government.

This chapter reviews research on populism by describing the role of discourse in articulating a “we” as an empty signifier. The emergence of “gender-ideology” discourse is presented as key to contemporary forms of exclusionary populism, as demonstrated in a case study of Hungary’s recent modification of the national register to prevent transgender individuals from retroactively changing their “sex at birth” status. The chapter argues that the discrediting of gender as an ideology mobilizes not only exclusionary right-wing populism but also feminisms asserting binary distinctions of a biologized sex and gender. While the government defends “us, the Hungarian people” against a “gender” that is not material but pure propaganda, self-identified progressive feminists dismiss trans-politics for focusing on identity instead of political economy. Both groups thus use “gender ideology” to mobilize an exclusionary rhetoric of hate. The chapter proposes that “us, the people” may instead be used to motivate a radical left populism organized around a “feminist people” of flexible inclusivity.

One must admit that the emerging of faster delivery service required a faster mechanism of transaction between government and its people. But such transaction is not without issues that have to be addressed by the governments of the public sectors. The primary issues addresses by this chapter are the relationships between the perceived: security tightening, facilitating conditions, usefulness, eases of using e-filing system and users’ retention. The second issue addresses by the chapter is differences in gender of the users with respect to factors that influence their state of retention. The findings of the study show a strong relationship between the predicting factors and user’s intention to continuing using the system. The findings also show that the retention of users is highly affected by the differences in the gender of the users. This research would like to recommend that faster transaction mechanism between the government and the people enhances the e-governance system and in this context, this chapter is focusing on some potential implications of e-filing system of Malaysia.

This study focuses on the communications that was built by the Public Relations (PR) in East Jakarta Administration City Government with the Press community through their roles in the administrative activities of government. The purpose of this study was to determine the PR activities of East Jakarta Administration City Government in establishing good communication with the Press as the government's partner in promoting the various activities that are beneficial to society. The research method used in this study is a case study (case study). The results showed that the role of Public Relations of East Jakarta Administration City Government in establishing good communication with the press, is done through activities, such as press conferences, press releases, and press gathering. All activities are done well, so as to create a communication and a good relationship, in any cooperation between the Press and the Government of East Jakarta, making it easier for local governments in disseminating various work programs.

The ombusdsman originated in Sweden as a substitution for the Parliament practiced a role of superintending the administration in its beginning, but now the office operates both as a commissioner of the people and the arbiter between the government and individual and also as an institution aims at the realization of efficient redress and justice. The office is expected to practice a function of disposition of the complaints on the principle of equity with relative ease and promptitude. After the ombudsman had originated in Sweden in 1809 as a Parliamentary commissioner Finland adopted the office in 1920, but the interests in the office became widespread only after the mid-20th century and at present about 50 countries have introduced the institution. In case of our country the Public Grievances Commission thereafter described as PGC), Korean style ombudsman, was inaugurated in 4 April 1994 under the provision of the "Basic Law about Administrative Regulations and Civil Affairs Administration (hereafter described as the "Basic Law.") that has passed in a regular session of the National Assembly of 1993.

This study analyses and examines in detail the impact of public sector innovation to improve public satisfaction level, it is about changing the traditional government into a more integrated and efficient one. Innovation is actually the engine of economic growth. Innovation in the public sector is an under-researched area. It deals with governance, political and human issues which are very difficult to solve. Since much of the topic and studies on innovation are focusing on the private sector, it is the aim of this study to analyse the process of innovation, mainly in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the public sector. This study will eventually be able to give e-government model/ guidelines that encapsulates the reality of innovation by the government. Innovation in government is not only about bringing a new breakthrough product to the people, but also to bring in changes to the culture in the organisation, the way a decision is made, and perhaps more importantly, how it can use technology to strengthen its role as the provider of social and economic welfare to the people. This study has also compared the findings of the e-government case study to the literature of innovation mainly in the area of process innovation. There is SWOT analysis with weight rating to judge the e-governance challenges, which Pakistan is facing as a developing nation. The study concludes that the public sector needs to overcome its traditional characteristics of poor agenda setting, unclear objectives, lack of transparency, and bureaucratic layers of decision-making processes. UN member states have carried out a series of sustainable development in 2030 and included 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One of the main points of attention is the first point concerning poverty alleviation which is largely due to unemployment. Therefore we need an effective strategy in solving these problems. Not only from the government, but can also come from the community. Similarly, pondok pesantren. With the existence of pesantren, the government strongly believes that pesantren can improve welfare and alleviate poverty. One of the pesantren involved is the Mukmin Mandiri boarding school, which also contributes to the economic development of the people, namely unemployment reduction, by empowering the community to become students having religious provisions as well as entrepreneurs through opening employment opportunities for students. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of pesantren in poverty alleviation. The research method used is qualitative with a case study design. Data collected through observation, interviews and documents. Then, the data is validated by triangulation of sources and techniques. The results showed the existence of pesantren businesses as a way of opportunity and a place for empowering skills for unemployed people. Furthermore, the empowerment of these skills can be reflected in the recognition of the background of the santri.Keywords: Pesantren Economy, Sustainable Development Goals, poverty alleviation, unemployment skills empowerment
