The connections between architecture and typhlology were not always obvious. Despite many related research problems, these sciences developed separately, and the study results of specialists from both departments did not reach the other discipline. An attempt to reduce this distance was made in the late decades of the 20th century by Polish architects, aware of the possibility of solving specific problems of the blind through architectural activities. The work is an attempt to constitute an interdisciplinary relationship between architecture and typhlology. The author indicates and names common issues important for both sciences, and also attempts to outline areas of their potential cooperation. In addition, she also highlights the values that can flow from this partnership.

Offering Reassurance as a Form of Strengthening Humanity Not Only during a Pandemic. The Inter-Generational Transmission of Wincenty Kadłubek’s Message Master Wincenty (ca. 1150–1223), who has been known as Kadłubek since the 15th century, was an unquestionable ally of mankind and especially of Poles. In his work entitled Magistrii Vincentii Chronicon Polonorum he encouraged his readers not to neglect reassurance and to seek it wherever possible. He also advised people to try to enjoy offering reassurance to others and to lead a good life connected with faith in God, which in his belief constitutes the most reliable “safeguard of your happiness”. This article aims to provide answers to several questions (and at the same time to solve a number of related research problems), How does Wincenty perceive reassurance and what significance does he attribute to offering it to other people? What advice does he give on not losing but gaining reassurance and on offering reassurance to others? What factors in his belief constitute stumbling blocks in the process of drawing reassurance for oneself and how to protect oneself against them (i.e., how to prevent their occurrence and how to overcome them)? The use of hermeneutic methods in studying the problems of providing reassurance as a social skill, an element that is very conspicuous in Master Wincenty’s literary output, seems well justified, considering the cognitive and noetic significance of the research subject.

In this chapter, the authors address main issues of Navigation, Guidance, and Control (NGC) and vision system of Autonomous Surface Vessels (ASV). These issues compose research problems and related research findings in recent years. Related research results are reviewed first; then the hardware and subsystem of ASVs is introduced. For the typical rudder-propeller, three degrees of freedom horizontal underactuated model is presented. Visual ASV is applied more and more in complex and unknown environment with increasing demand of obstacles avoidance. Two examples of visual applications are demonstrated. One is riverbank identification using color segmentation and Hough Transform; the other is bridge detection using optical flow.

Employment in the garment industries involves a lot of human resources as workers, especially those in the sewing sector. Workers who work in the garment industry have higher possibility to suffer musculoskeletal disorders compared with those in other industries. Less ergonomic working postures is one of the factors that can affect the quality and quantity  of the tailor’s work. Lack of rest time and nutrition of the workers are also additional factor for the musculoskeletal complaints and fatigue in workers that will ultimately impact to the productivity. Therefore, ergonomic intervention is needed in forms of workplace stretching exercise and giving sweet tea to overcome the condition.   This research was an experimental study using treatment by subject design on 25 samples selected by simple random sampling method. Interventions given were WSE and sweet tea. Data were collected three times before and after intervention with washing out period for one day. The data collected comprised subjective fatigue using questionnaire of 30 items of fatigue, data for the musculoskeletal complaints used questionnaire of nordic body map, and also employ productivity by calculation partial productivity.   Data analysis was done initially by the descriptive analysis with the significance’s level ?=0.05 and the normality data tested with Shapiro-Wilk. Subsequently, the data with normal distribution were analyzed by t-paired, while the data with abnormal distribution analyzed be Wilcoxon test. The results showed, there was decrease of musculoskeletal complaints of 24.98%, decrease of fatigue 27.06%, and increase of labor productivity  66.67% all were significant (p<0.05).   Inconclusion, the ergonomic intervention with WSE and giving sweet tea can improve the physiologic response as shown decrease of fatigue and musculoskeletal complaints as well as increase of labor productivity of the tailors. It is recommended  that the study results be applied by tailors working in garment industry or individually.
