The Information Technology (IT) proliferation path cannot be separated from the role of American young entrepreneurs who generate revolutionary change in global information system. This modern existence, of course, leads to the socio-cultural phenomena encompassing dichotomous trends in many aspects of Indonesian daily lives, not to mention in education world. Scrutinizing the data obtained from a one-semester direct observation, structured interview, and questionnaire distribution to 586 students of 11 faculties at Universitas Brawijaya is used as the base of a case study. By employing qualitative method, therefore, the study aims to provide insights about the merits and demerits of the use of IT in globalization of education, which is commonly happening in Indonesia within the last decade. The result shows that the dependence of students as Indonesian digital citizen on the internet-based information tends to impact negatively on the basic values of education, such as influencing the students to be narrow-minded, self-centered, and preferring to gain instant results.

Assessment from the elements of readiness which focus on IT infrastructure shows a good level of readiness by the top management towards the e-Waqf property management initiative. However, the systems and communication element shows a low level of readiness. Results from this study could contribute to the e-Waqf property management readiness among the waqf institution as one of the push factors that will change the way waqf property is managed in every waqf institution. Hence, this will lead to the optimally utilized of waqf property for the benefits of the Ummah in the future.

ABSTRACT In several organizations, business workgroups autonomously implement information technology (IT) outside the purview of the IT department. Shadow IT, evolving as a type of workaround from nontransparent and unapproved end-user computing (EUC), is a term used to refer to this phenomenon, which challenges norms relative to IT controllability. This report describes shadow IT based on case studies of three companies and investigates its management. In 62 percent of cases, companies decided to reengineer detected instances or reallocate related subtasks to their IT department. Considerations of risks and transaction cost economics with regard to specificity, uncertainty, and scope explain these actions and the resulting coordination of IT responsibilities between the business workgroups and IT departments. This turns shadow IT into controlled business-managed IT activities and enhances EUC management. The results contribute to the governance of IT task responsibilities and provide a way to formalize the role of workarounds in business workgroups.
