Water quality is one of the crucial parameters in monitoring and evaluating watersheds. A large number of parameters causes the monitoring and evaluation of watershed performance to be less efficient and costly. This study aims to determine the main parameters as a method of simplifying water quality observation parameters by producing equations that can be used to predict the level of pollution of a non-point source pollutant (watershed). A sampling of surface water was carried out by purposive sampling at several outlets located in the Brantas and Upper Solo watersheds. The research parameters analysed were: TSS, TDS, BOD, COD, Phenol, Free Chlorineine, Sulfide, Arsenic, Fe, Pb, Phosphate, Nitrate, Nitrite, Detergent, Turbidity and E. Coli. The results of the analysis of water quality are used to calculate the value of the Pollution Index (PI) according to the Decree of the Minister of Environment No. 115 of 2003 and to determine the class of water quality standards that refer to Class III water quality standards, in Government Regulation No.82 of 2001. The analysis showed that all samples were at mild to moderate pollution levels, and did not meet class III water quality standards. Multiple regression analysis produced two equations, namely: Model 1: PI = 3.952 + 91.668 Phenol and Model 2: PI = 3.086 + 80.167 Phenol + 0.152 BOD, with R squared values of 53% and 69.9% with a confidence level of 0.005. Thus the prediction of pollution levels of similar watershed can be made only by using the two most influential parameters namely phenol and/or BOD alone.

Abstract The Sail River flows through the Pekanbaru City area which functions as a hydrological reservoir and main drainage channel. This river is affected by tides. Development along the Sail River Basin may affects the aquatic ecosystems. The research was conducted to determine the quality of the Sail River water and how it relates to the tides. Sampling was carried out two times during June-July 2021 in high and low tide conditions. The water quality parameters measured were temperature, TSS, pH, dissolved oxygen, BOD, COD, oil and fat, and Pb metal. Results showed that the temperature, COD, and Pb were significantly different at high tide and low tide conditions. On the other hand, during low and high tides condition, the value of TSS, pH, dissolved oxygen, BOD, oil, and fat were not significantly different. Dissolved oxygen levels during high and low tide ranged from 2.00 -3.00 mg/l and 1.00 -1.70 mg/l respectively. The Pb content during high and low tides ranged from 0.12-0.16 mg/l. In the present study, the values of dissolved oxygen and Pb content does not meet the water quality standards of Government Regulation No. 22/2021 (Class III).

Abstract Water is one of the primary needs of every living creature. With the increase in population, the need for water continues to increase. The declining water quality caused by human activities is one of the world’s concerns. This study examines river water quality status in the gold mining area in the downstream of Krueng Kluet sub-watershed. The method used to determine the level of river water pollution is based on the Decree of Minister of Environment Number 115 the Year 2003, which uses class 1 water quality standards according to Government Regulation of The Republic of Indonesia Number 82 the Year. The results show that river water in the study area is in the category that is not polluted or fulfills water quality standards for drinking water and daily needs.

Research has been conducted to determine the quality of shallow groundwater (dug-wells and shallow bore-wells) and the local communities opinions around the landfill Suwung. The method of determining the station was done by purposive sampling, where the station sampling was determined by selecting a place which was expected to represent the whole area.Water sampling of dug-wells was conducted by using a water sampler and the shallow bore-wells using a 2-liter bottle. Data was analyzed by descriptive comparative referenceto class I water quality of the Bali Governor Regulation No.8 of 2007. The public opinion data was obtained by using aquesioner filled by respondents who have and use wells and shallow bore wells for their daily needsand it was analyzed by using frequency distribution tables.The results showed that the quality of shallow groundwater (dug-wells and shallow bore-wells) did not meet water quality standards in accordance with the rules of the class defined in the Governor of Bali Regulation No. 8 of 2007. The water pollution index (PI) of dug-wells at a distance of 1-400 meters was in hearily polluted category, while water fromshallow bore-wells drilled at a distance of 1-200 meters was in the category of hearily polluted and at a distance of 201-400 meters was in the category of medium polluted.There was an increasing range of groundwater quality deterioration in 1997, 2008 and 2014. In 1997, contaminated shallow groundwater has occured at a distance of 80 meters, while in 2008, the pollution has occurred up to a distance of 375 meters and in the year of 2014 the contamination occurred from a distance of 1 meter to 400 meters. The average of score Pollution Index (PI) of Water wells in the year of 2008 amounted to 14.55, while in 2014 up to 15.44. It is estimated that the water quality of dug-wells and bore-wells will meet the quality standards in accordance with the value of the pollution index at a distance of over 5000 meters and 750 meters of the Suwung landfill waste.Most of the respondents who live in the vicinity Suwung landfill waste tend to give an opinion that the shallow groundwater (dug-wells and shallow bore-wells) has decreased quality as drinking water. Approximately 75% of respondents thought that the well water in their environment has been reduced in quality.

The lack of clean water distribution by local water service (PDAM) of Palangka Raya city is the major reason for people around the final processing site/landfill (Tempat Pemrosesan Akhir) at Km 14 to use groundwater for their daily life. The landfill may cause pollution over groundwater known as leachate, which commonly unnoticed by its users. This study aims at assessing the quality of groundwater in that area. The groundwater was taken at different distances from the site in three rainless-days. The physical, chemical and biology parameters of groundwater are observed in the field (in situ) and analyzed in the laboratory, refers to water quality standard of Class I, according to Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001 and Minister of Health Regulation No. 32 of 2017. Public opinion on that issue is cached through interview. The results showed that the groundwater around the landfill in three rainless-days was harmless to be consumed as drinking water, and did not exceed the water quality standards stipulated by government in term of odorless, tasteless, and colorless. Some indicators also show that the groundwater meets the specified quality standards, i.e. TDS (17-68.14 mg/L), DHL (17,15-69.39 ?s), turbidity (0.11-2.50 mg/L), iron (0.227-0.71 mg/L), manganese (<0.0123-0.02 mg/L), coliform (<1.8-280 MPN/100 ml), while Pb and H2S were not detected. From community side, there are no any health complaints arise as long as they use the water.

ABSTRACTWastewater from sugar industries has complex characteristics and depends on the production capacity. The main aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the waste water treatment processes (WWTP) of two sugar factories PG. Kediri and PG. Sidoarjo in reducing pH, BOD, COD, and TSS during year 2016 and 2017. Wastewater influents in both factories exceeded the water quality standards of Ministry of Environment Regulation Number 5 Year 2014. After treatments, water quality parameters of the effluents including pH, BOD, COD and TSS were significantly decreased. The effectiveness of the PG Kediri WWTP in reducing BOD, COD and TSS was 98.52%; 98.47% and 91.51% respectively. The effectiveness of PG Sidoarjo WWTP in reducing BOD, COD and TSS was 5-20% lower than that of PG. Kediri. Pengolahan limbah cair dilakukan secara fisika dan biologi untuk mengurangi konsentrasi bahan pencemar yang menjadi permasalahan lingkungan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektifitas kinerja IPAL di PG. Kediri dan PG. Sidoarjo dalam menurunkan konsentrasi pH, BOD, COD dan TSS selama tahun 2016 dan 2017. Sebelum pengolahan air limbah memiliki konsentrasi tinggi melebihi ambang batas baku mutu air limbah yang ditetapkan oleh Peraturan Menteri Lingkungan Hidup RI No. 5 Tahun 2014. Setelah dilakukan pengolahan terjadi penurunan konsentrasi pH, BOD, COD, dan TSS secara signifikan yang diukur di bagian outlet IPAL. Besarnya efektifitas kinerja IPAL di PG Kediri dalam menurunkan konsentrasi BOD, COD, dan TSS sebesar 98,52%; 98,47%; dan 91,51%. Berbeda dengan nilai efektifitas kinerja IPAL di PG Sidoarjo yang lebih rendah 5 sampai 20% dari efektifitas PG. Kediri.Kata kunci: efektifitas kinerja, industri gula, IPAL, limbah cair

 This study aims to determine the latest water quality conditions in terms of physical, chemical and biological properties in the DAS Bugis and DAS Wain. Analysis of water sample was conducted at the Water Quality Laboratory of the Department of Aquatic Resources and Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Mulawarman University, Samarinda. Data analysis refers to the Water Quality Standards based on East Kalimantan Regional Government Regulation No. 02/2011 about Management of Water Quality and Water Pollution Control. The results showed that the parameters of temperature, colour, TSS, TDS, BOD5, SO4 and NO3 were included in the Class I water quality standards that can be used as drinking water or for other consumption purposes. COD parameters (in the Right River Basin), DO and NH3 (in the River Basin) were included in Class II water quality standards, which can be used for water recreation infrastructure / facilities, freshwater fish farming, animal husbandry and plants irrigation. The pH parameters in the DAS Bugis were included in class IV water quality standards that can only be used to irrigate plants. Pollutant loads that contribute a lot to enter were agricultural and agricultural waste and domestic waste originating from community forest areas.

ABSTRAKKondisi kualitas air suatu perairan yang baik sangat penting untuk mendukung kelulushidupan organisme yang hidup di dalamnya. Penentuan status mutu air perlu dilakukan sebagai acuan dalam melakukan pemantauan pencemaran kualitas air. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji status mutu air dan menentukan indeks pencemaran berdasarkan parameter fisika-kimia di perairan Distrik Depapre, Kabupaten Jayapura. Pengambilan sampel kualitas air dilakukan pada bulan Oktober 2017 di lima stasiun penelitian, kemudian hasilnya dibandingkan dengan baku mutu air laut untuk biota laut berdasarkan KEPMEN-LH No. 51 Tahun 2004. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa parameter yang masih sesuai baku mutu antara lain suhu, salinitas, sulfida dan kecerahan perairan, sedangkan parameter yang telah melampaui baku mutu antara lain pH, ammonia total, nitrat dan fosfat. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan indeks pencemaran menunjukkan bahwa perairan Distrik Depapre berada dalam kategori tercemar ringan hingga tercemar sedang.Kata kunci: Baku Mutu, Indeks Pencemaran, Kualitas Air, Parameter Fisika-Kimia, Distrik DepapreABSTRACTGood water quality is extremely important to support life of organisms. The determination of water quality status was needed as reference to monitor water pollution. This study aimed to assess the status of water quality and determine pollution index based on physical-chemical parameters in the Depapre District waters, Jayapura Regency. Sampling was carried out in October 2017 across five research stations, then the results were compared with water quality standards based on KEPMEN-LH No. 51 Tahun 2004 for marine biotas. The results showed that the parameters in according to the quality standards are temperature, salinity, sulphide and water transparency, while those that have exceeded the quality standards are pH, total ammonia, nitrate and phosphate. Ciliwung River which has upstream in Bogor, while downstream in Jakarta presence has very important role for the region in its path. Positive role of the river for the public interest in this area include the need of clean water sources, irrigation / agriculture, industry and others. Conversely Ciliwung River is also a source of flood disaster in Jakarta. Will consider its use, the risk of disaster resources and environmental burdens are received by the waters and the water catchment area is very large, then the existence of river quality should be monitored both the water catchment conditions or water quality. For future purposes, it would require a management with specific deadlines (5 th, 10 th, 15 th) and targets based on the quality of the water quality standards (BMA) class III, II and I. The results of the current monitoring parameters BOD, COD, fecal Coli, Coliform has a value above the threshold of water quality standards specified. While DO in the downstream segment has a value below the water quality standards. Other parameters such as pH, TSS and nitrogen have a greater trend downstream, but the value of the water quality is still under water quality standards that are targeted. Keywords: Water quality, Water Quality standards, Ciliwung river.

Lake Diefenbaker (LD) is a large reservoir on the South Saskatchewan River used for agricultural irrigation, drinking water, and recreation. Our objectives were to determine the distribution and abundance of bacterial indicators in embayments and the main channel of LD and to relate these to environmental factors. Total coliforms (TCs), fecal coliforms (FCs), and fecal indicator bacteria (i.e., Escherichia coli) were measured concurrently with water quality parameters. Although TCs, FCs, and E. coli were present in LD, they rarely exceeded the TC and FC Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME) water quality standards for agricultural use (1000 colony-forming units (CFU) per 100 mL and 100 CFU per 100 mL, respectively). The correlation between the bacterial indicators in the sediments and the water column indicates that higher embayment abundances may be related to sediment loading and (or) resuspension events in these frequently mixed embayments. With higher water temperatures and water levels, as well as higher microbial activity, CCME bacterial limits may be exceeded. The greatest contributor to bacterial indicator abundance was water temperature. We predict that water quality standards will be exceeded more frequently with climate warming.
