Background: Breastfed mothers are included in nutritional high-risk group. A the age of 4-6 months after postpartum, their weight start to decrease because of recovery and breastfeeding. Based on Susilo’s research, the prevalence of inadequate food intake of pregnant mothers in Bantul Regency is 28.69%. That high prevalence is caused by the lack of energy and protein intake. The nutritional status of breastfed mothers depend on their food intake during pregnancy. Nevertheless, the nutritional status of breastfed mothers aged 4 and 6 months who have sufficient and insufficient food intake are not known yet. Objective: To know the relationship between food intake pattern, the nutritional status during pregnancy, and parity with nutritional status of breastfed mothers aged 4 and 6 months.Method: This was observational research with cohort combined with concurrent and non-concurrent prospective study. Subjects were mothers who had baby aged 4 months. Data collected were mother’s nutritional status during pregnancy, nutritional status of breastfed mothers aged 4 and 6 months, food intake pattern (variety, quantity, frequency, avoidance of food), and economics social data (family, education, job, income, outcome, and parity). Food intake determined using FFQ. Data was analyzed descriptively and analytically with chi square and logistic examination. Multivariate logistic test was used to control variable that influence nutritional status of breastfed mothers. Results: The result showed that there was no relationship between food intake patterns during pregnancy with nutritional status of breastfed mothers aged 4 and 6 months. There was also no relationship between parity and nutritional status of breastfed mothers aged 4 and 6 months. Yet, there was significant influence between nutritional status during pregnancy with nutritional status of breastfed mothers aged 4 and 6 months (p<0.05). OR nutritional status during pregnancy and breastfeeding aged 4 month was 4.89:95% CI 1.63-14.7 and 6 month was 12:95% CI 2.37-15.81.Conclusion: The food intake pattern of breastfed mothers and parity did not influence nutritional status of breastfed mothers aged 4 and 6 months. However, the better the nutritional status of mothers during pregnancy, the better the nutritional status of breastfed mothers aged 4 and 6 months.

The incidences of pneumonia in infants Become the second highest cause mortality before reaching the age of 5 years and a health problem in Indonesia. The family of smoking and smoke from burning mosquito coils are the triggers for air pollution, which can lead to pneumonia in infants. The study aims to analyze the relationship between family smoking habits and the use of mosquito coils with the incidence of pneumonia in under-fives. The method of research applied analytic observational research using a case-control study approach. The number of samples in this study was 87 under-fives in the case group and 87 under-fives in the control group. Sampling was conducted by non-probability sampling. A questionnaire was used as a data collecting instrument. Data analysis used chi-square and multiple logistic regression. The results of this study Showed that there was a relationship between family smoking habits and the use of mosquito coils with the incidence of pneumonia in infants. In addition, there were other variables that had a relationship with the incidence of pneumonia in under-fives namely smoking location (OR = 3,046; 95% CI: 1429-6492, p = 0.003), the number of cigarettes (OR = 7.105 ; 95% CI: 3079-16394, p = 0.000), and length of time with smokers (p = 0.000). On the other hand, the variables of father smoker status and the frequency of using mosquito coils were not related to the incidence of pneumonia in under-fives (p value 0.05). It is concluded that family smoking habits, use of mosquito coils, the location of smoking, and number of cigarettes, and  length of time together with smokers were risk factors associated with the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers

Objective: To examine the prevalence of five oral streptococci species of severe early childhood caries (S-ECC) and caries-free (CF) groups. Study design: Supra gingival plaque samples were obtained from 198 Thai children with ages ranging from one to six years old. Eighty-seven subjects had no caries (dmft=0), and 111 had S-ECC. After DNA extraction, S. mutans, S. sobrinus, S. sanguinis, S. oralis, and S. gordonii were identified by standard PCR using species-specific primers. Statistical analysis determined the differences among prevalence rates of each species using Pearson chi-square test. The relationship among dmft score, age, sex and caries status within each group was analyzed by logistical regression (p ≤ 0.05). Results: Sex was not correlated with any of the species detected in both groups (mean age =3.09, mean±SD of dmft=11.04±7.89). S. mutans was found at greatest prevalence in both groups followed by S. oralis. S. gordonii was detected at a high prevalence, but S. sobrinus and S. sanguinis were lower in S-ECC when compared with those from the CF group. Conclusion: S. mutans was associated significantly with S-ECC (p ≤ 0.05). Caries prevalence was highest (56.5%) in subjects infected by S. mutans alone. S. sanguinis prevalence was higher in the CF group, but not statiscally different. Infection with MS did not show higher caries prevalence.
