UNSTRUCTURED Retropharyngeal abscess is an abscess of the deep spaces in the neck which if not treated urgently can be life-threatening as a result of airway compromise. It is important to detect and treat very early. It may arise in pediatrics from direct neck trauma which is not very common and fishbone impaction. Direct anterior neck trauma resulting in insidious retropharyngeal abscess has not been widely reported.

Haemopericardium with cardiac tamponade following minor blunt trauma is a rare, life-threatening condition. The diagnosis of cardiac tamponade as well as therapeutic management may be delayed, since the link between trauma and illness is often overlooked. We report the case of an old woman who developed a relatively delayed cardiac tamponade due to an otherwise minor blunt chest trauma following syncope.

Acute mitral valve injury following percutaneous left atrial appendage (LAA) occlusion is a rare, but potentially life-threatening complication. This report presents a case of severe mitral valve injury following left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) that required mitral valve replacement. The LAAO device successfully was removed, and the LAA was closed with a double-running polypropylene suture. In addition, the mitral valve was replaced with an artificial valve. The patient had an uneventful clinical evolution and was discharged 10 days after emergency surgery.
