This research is aimed to determine the results of the usability analysis from the website Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata (STIPAR) Triatma Jaya viewed from the user side as well as knowing the recommendation of website improvement of Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata (STIPAR) Triatma Jaya from usability aspect. The methods used are Usability Testing of Performance Measurement and Retrospective Think Aloud (RTA) techniques and the dissemination of SUS questionnaires.  The results showed that the Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata (STIPAR) Triatma Jaya still not effective, it is seen from the error or mistake made by users of lecturers and students while doing the task. Statistically website Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata (STIPAR) Triatma Jaya has been efficient for lecture but not efficient for college students users. For lecturers there are 6 out of 10 tasks that do not have significant time difference, while for  college students there are 4 out of 10 tasks that do not have significant time difference. From the aspect of user satisfaction, both lecturers and college students feel still less satisfied using the website of Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata (STIPAR) Triatma Jaya, this can be seen from the SUS questionnaire scores of lecturers of 63.28 and college students users of 58.44. Based on the analysis result, it can be concluded that the Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata (STIPAR) Triatma Jaya has not fulfilled the criteria of products that have good usability, because the three aspects (effectiveness, efficiency and user satisfaction) have not been met. Based on the above, the recommendation of Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata (STIPAR) Triatma Jaya website is focused on adjustment of display, language and term change, feature addition, menu name adjustment, menu structure and menu layout, content addition and menu simplification. BACKGROUND Hazardous alcohol consumption, and binge drinking in particular, continues to be common among college students, posing the greatestrisk for their health and safety. Despite widespread exposure to evidence-based preventive interventions among U.S. undergraduates, only modest and temporary effects on risky drinking occur. Formative studies have demonstrated that students want a more engaging intervention tool for risky drinking that can be used “just in time.” OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to test the appeal, relevance, and perceived utility of a draft mobile app for safer student drinking. METHODS Undergraduate student participants tested the draft mobile app via an interactive online prototype with hot spots that responded to their taps to mimic app functionality. They narrated their impressions, navigation, and comments in a standardized Think-Aloud procedure. After each round of Think-aloud interviews, researchers debriefed the investigators and developers to discuss findings and brainstorm app modifications. RESULTS Data indicated that minor changes to the functionality and aesthetics would improve usability of the app. Student testers recommended tailoring the app to the needs of college students and to aspects of the local university’s drinking culture. CONCLUSIONS Findings from this study will be synthesized with information gained from other formative work to determine the final app features. We will test the app in a pilot randomized trial to assess app usage and the impact of the app on college student drinking behavior over several months.

Purpose The purpose of this study is go better understand website usability by community college students. The usability study team sought data that would help to guide in a website redesign. Design/methodology/approach Librarians led students through sessions that followed the usability testing approach defined by Nielsen (2012) which emphasizes the ease of use of the Web interface. This study compared the results from the existing library website and a prototype website. Findings The study’s findings emphasized the need for balance between the variety of services and content that the website provides. This is especially true given that so many community college students are underprepared for college-level courses. Research limitations/implications The study was limited by available time and the clinical nature of the usability session. Practical implications The study results underscore the significant challenge facing library website designers. The various online services exist in pockets that are only partially integrated and, therefore, require students to make decisions and predictive judgments as they navigate the site. Originality/value Overall, this study emphasized the need for balance between the variety of services and content that the website provides.

<p>A continuation task provides learners with a text with its ending removed and requires them to complete it through writing in a most coherent and logical way. The current study investigated (a) whether the continuation task had a positive effect on text cohesion and (b) whether texts produced by pairs exhibited higher cohesion than those produced by individual learners. A total of 80 college students were randomly assigned to one of three task conditions: 1) 40 students working in pairs in a continuation task; 2) 20 working individually in a continuation task; and 3) 20 working individually in a picture writing task. Text cohesion was analyzed by using three indices from Coh-metrix: Argument Overlap, Latent Semantic Analysis, and Causal Cohesion. Moreover, the collaborative dialogue and think-aloud protocols were collected and transcribed for identifying language-related episodes (LREs). The results showed that learners in Condition 1 produced the highest text cohesion while those in Conditions 3 the lowest. Furthermore, learners in Condition 1 produced more cohesion-related LREs, especially proportionally more correctly resolved LREs than those in Conditions 2 and 3. The implications of these findings from the perspective of alignment are discussed.</p>

This article presents six case studies of L3 production performed by trilinguals in China, aiming to explore the activation status of L1 and L2 during L3 production. Six Mongolian native college students participated as research subjects, and qualitative and quantitative research methods including a think-aloud writing test and interviews, were adopted to examine which language, Mongolian L1 or Chinese L2, were more readily activated in the process of English L3 production, as well as, what roles L1 and L2 play in the process of L3 production and what factors contribute to the activation of L1 and L2. The findings show that Mongolian L1 and Chinese L2 are activated competitively in the process of English L3 production, but for different learners, they are activated to different levels and play different roles. The recency use of background languages, language proficiency and the medium of instruction are decisive factors in determining the activation levels of Mongolian L1 and Chinese L2 for Mongolian native college students in China. Language proficiency, the type and amount of exposure to L3 and the perceived language distance are the factors that contribute the most to activation of L1 and L2 during L3 production.
