Background Poor quality primary health care is a major issue in China, particularly in blindness prevention. Artificial intelligence (AI) could provide early screening and accurate auxiliary diagnosis to improve primary care services and reduce unnecessary referrals, but the application of AI in medical settings is still an emerging field. Objective This study aimed to investigate the general public’s acceptance of ophthalmic AI devices, with reference to those already used in China, and the interrelated influencing factors that shape people’s intention to use these devices. Methods We proposed a model of ophthalmic AI acceptance based on technology acceptance theories and variables from other health care–related studies. The model was verified via a 32-item questionnaire with 7-point Likert scales completed by 474 respondents (nationally random sampled). Structural equation modeling was used to evaluate item and construct reliability and validity via a confirmatory factor analysis, and the model’s path effects, significance, goodness of fit, and mediation and moderation effects were analyzed. Results Standardized factor loadings of items were between 0.583 and 0.876. Composite reliability of 9 constructs ranged from 0.673 to 0.841. The discriminant validity of all constructs met the Fornell and Larcker criteria. Model fit indicators such as standardized root mean square residual (0.057), comparative fit index (0.915), and root mean squared error of approximation (0.049) demonstrated good fit. Intention to use (R2=0.515) is significantly affected by subjective norms (beta=.408; P<.001), perceived usefulness (beta=.336; P=.03), and resistance bias (beta=–.237; P=.02). Subjective norms and perceived behavior control had an indirect impact on intention to use through perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Eye health consciousness had an indirect positive effect on intention to use through perceived usefulness. Trust had a significant moderation effect (beta=–.095; P=.049) on the effect path of perceived usefulness to intention to use. Conclusions The item, construct, and model indicators indicate reliable interpretation power and help explain the levels of public acceptance of ophthalmic AI devices in China. The influence of subjective norms can be linked to Confucian culture, collectivism, authoritarianism, and conformity mentality in China. Overall, the use of AI in diagnostics and clinical laboratory analysis is underdeveloped, and the Chinese public are generally mistrustful of medical staff and the Chinese medical system. Stakeholders such as doctors and AI suppliers should therefore avoid making misleading or over-exaggerated claims in the promotion of AI health care products.

The challenge of implementing the online service public system from the user side of the system is the acceptance and use of technology. User characteristics for accepting or rejecting the use of the system for various reasons (digital literacy) for the adoption of new technologies such as the Online Single Submission (OSS) system. The research purpose is to offer a theoretical model of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to evaluate the use and acceptance of users to the OSS system at the Investment Service and One-Stop Integrated Service of the Samarinda City during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used to measure the variable effects using Partial Least Square - Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) on perceived ease of use (usability) and perceived usefulness, behavior intention to use, and Attitude toward Using the Online Single Submission system. Based on the results of testing the hypothesis H0 proposed is accepted. OSS system users find it useful to assist in completing work (licensing process). That perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Usefulness have a positive effect and significant on the Behaviour Intention to Use adopt the OSS system for users and have a goodness of fit.

Smart home services (SHSs) afford users an effective lifestyle management system, which provides human-oriented networking of smart devices and applications that enable users to control their homes from anywhere at any time. Despite the benefits of SHSs, however, their acceptance is very low. There remains a gap in the literature in terms of a comprehensive model that addresses users’ intention to use SHSs. To address this gap, the present study explored the factors that influence SHS acceptance among users based on well-established theoretical frameworks, such as the technology acceptance model, innovation diffusion theory, and the theory of planned behavior. To this end, the study integrated four additional factors, namely, perceived convenience, perceived connectedness, perceived cost, and perceived privacy risk, into the exploration and carried out structural equation modeling to quantitatively determine the effects of these factors. Questionnaires were administered to 750 users. The findings indicated that perceived compatibility, perceived convenience, perceived connectedness, perceived cost, perceived behavioral control with perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use directly and indirectly exerted a significant influence on users’ intention to use SHSs.

PurposeRetailers are increasingly using self-service technologies to improve customer experience and reduce costs. The purpose of this study is to identify factors that could explain the level of continuance intention of mobile self-scanning applications in retail. Based on previous theoretical streams, the present study integrates technology readiness (TR) and service quality into the technology acceptance model.Design/methodology/approachUsing data collected through an online survey of 217 users of a mobile self-scanning application of a large supermarket chain operating in Portugal, the study uses partial least squares structural equation modeling to test the proposed hypotheses.FindingsThe results indicate that the continuance usage of the self-scanning apps is directly driven by users' satisfaction and perceived usefulness. Findings also show that TR has a positive and significant impact on ease of use and perceived usefulness. Ease of use has a positive impact on users' satisfaction and perceived usefulness but has no direct effect on the continuance intention to use the application. Perceived quality has a positive direct effect on satisfaction and a positive indirect effect on continuance intention. Finally, need for interaction has a negative effect on TR.Originality/valueThis work contributes to a better understanding of the emerging market for mobile self-scanning applications in retail applications, particularly relevant in a digital transition context.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that influence the intention to use of digital wallets with an expanded approach of technology acceptance model by adding subjective norms and perceived security as exogenous variables. Subjective norms variable is hypothesized either directly or indirectly through the endogenous variables in TAM to influence intention to use, while perceived security variable is hypothesized to have a direct effect. The hypotheses that have been submitted forms a theoretical framework as structural equation model (SEM). Empirical data was collected through an online survey of 233 respondents who answered 23 questionnaire questions in full. The selection of respondents is determined by purposive—non-probability sampling approach from active users of LinkAja in Bandung whose population is not yet known. The software used to perform the statistical tests of informing that all indicators used meet the criteria of validity and reliability, the ten hypotheses submitted are all accepted based on the t-significance test and strong determining factor. The five TAM variables and their expansion have a positive and significant effect on the intention to use. The biggest influence of antecedent variables on the intention to use sequentially is subjective norms, perceived usefulness, attitude, perceived ease of use, and the smallest is perceived security. In increasing the intention to use, operators should prioritize on increasing subjective norms from prospective users, such as testimonials from role models about the ease of use, convenience, and attractiveness of the digital wallets.

PurposeVoice-activated smart speakers such as Amazon Echo and Google Home were recently developed and are gaining popularity. Understanding and theorizing the underlying mechanisms that encourage or impede consumers to use smart speakers is fundamental for enhancing acceptance and future development of these new devices. Therefore, building on technology acceptance research, this study aims to develop and test an acceptance model for investigating consumers’ intention to use smart speakers.Design/methodology/approachFirst, antecedents that may significantly affect the usage intention of smart speakers were identified through an explorative approach by a netnographic analysis of customer reviews (N= 2,186) and Twitter data (N= 899). Afterward, these results and contemporary literature were used to develop and validate an acceptance model for smart speakers. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test the proposed hypotheses on data collected from 293 participants of an online survey.FindingsBesides perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, the quality and diversity of a system, its enjoyment, consumer’s technology optimism and risk (surveillance anxiety and security/privacy risk) strongly affect the acceptance of smart speakers. Among these variables, enjoyment had the strongest effect on behavioral intention to use smart speakers.Originality/valueThis is the first study that incorporates netnography and SEM for investigating technology acceptance and applies it to the field of interactive smart devices.

Technology has made life easier in today’s world. In addition, developments in technologies and communication have become commonplace for majority of people. Global telecommunication development has reduced distances around the globe, and made it easy for businesses to proliferate worldwide. This study explored the factors affecting the use of telecommunication services among customers through mobile phones. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) has been extensively used in the field of technology use but is lacking when it comes to factors that affect customers’ intention to use service as they focus more on technology. On the basis of review findings, there is a positive relationship between service quality, subjective norms, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use of service and voluntariness moderates the relationship between subjective norms and intention to use service. These and other relationships are considered in the development of a Service Acceptance Model.

Purpose As artificial intelligence (AI) has become increasingly popular and accessible, most companies have recognized its far-reaching potential. However, despite numerous research papers on organizational adoption of new technologies including AI, little is known about individual employees’ intentions to use them. Given that organizational innovations are of limited value if they are not adopted by employees, the purpose of this study is to understand the underlying factors that push employees to make use of these new technologies in the workplace. Design/methodology/approach This study builds on previously developed technology acceptance models to provide a new theoretical model. The model is then tested using data collected from a survey of 203 employees and analyzed through structural equation modeling. Findings Findings show that five factors affect employees’ intention to use AI either directly or as mediators. Organizational culture and habit exert a positive impact on employees’ intention to use AI, whereas job insecurity has a negative impact. Perceived self-image and perceived usefulness fully mediate the relation between job insecurity and intention to use. Moreover, perceived self-image and perceived usefulness partially mediate the relationship between habit and intention to use. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is among the first to determine the factors that influence employees’ intention to use AI in general and more particularly chatbots within the workplace.

The rapid growth of investment in information technologt by orgoniza tions worldwide has made user acceptance an increasingly criticol technologt implementation and *orogr*rnt issues. User"icceptance has received fairly extensive attention from previous studies, particularly those involving dffirent technologies, user populations, and/or organizationalcontexts. The Technologt Acceptance Model @M is amongmost influential research models to determine information systems/information technologt use. The objective of thk study is to assess the TAM in world-wide-web usage. Data were collected from 127 undergraduate accounting students in Duta Wacana Christian (Jniversity-Yogyakarta and were tested using the structural equation modeling approach. The results of the study showed that, even though goodness of fit the model is not very well, there are significant coruelations among the perceived ease of use variable against perceived usefulness andattitude variable, perceived usefulness variable against attitude and behavior intention to use, attitude variable against behavior intention to use, and behavior intention to use variable against behavior to use. Implications of the future research areos ore discussed. Keywords: Perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitude, behavior intention to use, behavior to use, TAM, SEM.
