A child's age, cognitive ability, and exposure to death in the environment have been documented as major factors affecting the formation of a mature death concept. The present study investigated the relationships between these three factors (age, cognitive ability, and death experience) and children's understandings of death, as well as the relationship between mothers' communicative competence and children's understandings of death. Thirty-seven children (ages 48–96 months) completed three cognitive tasks and answered four dichotomous questions about death. Their mothers ( N = 37) responded in writing to 16 questions about death that children are likely to ask. Results showed significant relationships between age and understanding, between seriation ability and understanding, and between death experience and understanding. There was no statistically significant relationship between maternal response competence and children's understandings of death. Implications are discussed.

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between microeconomic factors with credit risk among selected commercial banks in Malaysia. For this purpose, a sample of seven out of 27 commercial banks in Malaysia was selected and the microeconomic factors affecting credit risk with six measurements of return on asset (ROA), bank size, leverage, the ratio of capital, interest income and return on equity (ROE) were examined by applying Panel Regression Fixed Effect (FE) Model for a period 20 years from 1998 to 2017. The scope of the study covers seven selected commercial banks in Malaysia namely: Affin Bank Berhad, Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad, CIMB Bank Berhad, Hong Leong Bank Berhad, Malayan Banking Berhad, Public Bank Berhad and RHB Bank Berhad. This study is using credit risk proxy by non-performing loan for dependent variable while independent variables that have been selected were returned on asset (ROA), bank size, leverage, the ratio of capital, interest income and return on equity (ROE). The findings of the study managed to reject the null hypothesis for return on asset, bank size, leverage, interest income and return on equity which indicates the five microeconomic variables give a significant relationship with credit risk. There are positive relationships between leverage, interest income and return on equity with credit risk while return on asset, bank size and ratio of capital are negatively related to credit risk. However, the study fails to find any significant relationship between the ratio of capital and credit risk for commercial banks in Malaysia.

Introduction: Postpartum depression (PPD) is a common disorder and a type of clinical depression that affects mothers during the first 4 weeks after childbirth. Considering the destructive effects of this disease on mothers' behavior, identifying the factors affecting PPDand using proper methods in normal delivery is important. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between regional anesthesia (RA) during labor and the incidence of PPDin women referred to hospitals affiliated to Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. Methodology: In this study, 200 pregnant women referred to hospitals of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences during 2015 to 2017 entered into two equal groups, Group R, administered RA, and Group C; control group without RA according to their desire. Each group consisted of 100 parturients, and the two groups were compared for the incidence of PPD and the association of depression with RA during labor. Results: Based on the obtained data, the participants in the two groups did not differ significantly in terms of age, body mass index (BMI), duration of delivery phases and depression in the first week of postpartum. However, the severity of pain in different phases of delivery was different due to the use of anesthetic for one of the groups. No significant relationship between RA and depression was observed in the first week after childbirth. However, RA has a significant relationship with PPD in the 4th week, so that the use of RA reduces the incidence of PPD in the 4th week (p = 0.066). Conclusion: We conclude that the use of regional anesthesia will not have a significant effect on postpartum depression in the first week, but it reduces the incidence of postpartum depression in the 4th week after childbirth. In China, transportation accounts for a large proportion of total energy consumption and that trend is projected to increase in the future. Through the stochastic impacts by regression on population, affluence, and technology (STIRPAT) model, OLS regressions were conducted to investigate the impacts of gross domestic product (GDP), urbanization, energy intensity and transport structure on the transport energy consumption in China’s three regions. The analyses of inter-provincial panel data during the period 2006–2015 is compared to the analysis of the data from 1996 to 2005 to determine the change. There were two primary findings from this study. First, the changes of the influencing degree in three regions are considered. GDP is still the main driver of transport energy consumption in eastern region, while urbanization becomes the main driver in the other two regions. Second, the relationship between the elasticity and the value of each variable is detected. The elasticity of transport energy consumption with respect to GDP, transport structure, energy intensity and urbanization have separate positive and significant relationships. The primary measure is to optimize transport structure in the central region, while reducing energy intensity in the western region. Finally, we propose relevant policy recommendations for the three regions.

Emerging economies have been trying to improve economic growth with the help of different policies like R&D, technology development, technology transfer and patents. Despite the large amount of literature on the relationship between technology, direct government R&D support, R&D activities and patents, it has not been clearly defined in emerging economies. With this research based on 191 observations from companies in the Aegean Region of Turkey, we have found significant relationships between technological infrastructures, inward technology transfer and patents. Furthermore, the findings prove that there is a significant relationship between R&D activities, R&D experience and patents. Surprisingly, there is no significant relationship between outward technology transfer, direct government R&D support and patents. These results contribute to the literature on the relationship between direct R&D support, R&D activities, technology and patents in emerging economies.
