Objective: To measure and compare the amount, rate and anchor loss after the en masse retraction of all anteriors with titanium mini-implant anchorage and conventional molar anchorage.Methods: This comparative clinical study sample comprised 12 patients (10 females, 2 males; mean age between 16 and 22 years). The implants were placed in the maxillary and mandibular arches. Preretraction and post retraction lateral cephalograms were taken for measuring the amount, rate and anchor loss after the retraction.Results: Mean en masse retraction amounts, the rate of movement per month, and horizontal and vertical anchor loss at the maxillary implant site were 4.79 mm, 0.58 mm, 0 mm, and 0 mm, respectively. In the mandible, on implant sides were 4.66 mm, 0.56 mm, 0 mm, and 0 mm. Mean en masse retraction amounts, the rate of movement per month, and horizontal and vertical anchor loss at the maxillary conventional molar anchor side were 4.08 mm, 0.49 mm, 2.91 mm, and 1.66 mm. In the mandible, on conventional anchor sides were 3.54 mm, 0.48 mm, 3.12 mm, and 1.95 mm.Conclusion: En masse retraction had a faster rate of space closure with mini-implants as anchor units than the conventional molar anchorage preparation.

Aim: To compare Desarda’s versus Lichtenstein’s mesh repair in patients with unilateral, primary, reducible inguinal hernia in terms of mean operative time and seroma formation Methods: This randomized control trial conducted at Department of Surgery, Patuakhali Medical College & Hospital, Patuakhali. Eighty patients with unilateral, primary, reducible inguinal hernia were randomly distributed into two groups to undergo hernia repair i.e. Lichtenstein (L) and Desarda’s (D). Outcome was measured in terms of mean operative time and seroma formation. Seroma formation was defined as presence of enclosed cavity containing serous fluid determined by ultrasonography at 30th post-operative day. Results: Thirty three patients (41.25%) were above 50 years of age, whereas remaining 47 patients (58.75%) were below 50 years of age. Five patients (6.25%) were female and 75 patients(93.75%) were male. Seroma formation was 5% in Desarda’s group while 7.5% in Lichtenstein group (P> 0.05). Similarly difference in mean operative time was statistically non-significant. Seroma formation was common in older age group. There was no effect of smoking, obesity, operative time and gender on seroma formation. Conclusion: It is concluded that there is no difference in frequency of seroma formation and mean operative time in Desarda’s or Lichtenstein’s technique of hernia repair. This reseach is aimed at knowing the students ability in both solving the math problem and connection those who are taught by Problem Based Learning at class VIII of the Junior High school 28 Padang 2017/2018. This research is categorized as quasy Experimental Research, by using Randomized Control Group Only Design. After implementing the Problem Based Leaning, the student was directly given the test as the result showed that the score  of the student who belong to the experimental class in  problem solving recorded as 74,00 while those who were in the control class only refers to 72,30. The test average score on the experimental class in term of math connection ability was 68,73; while in the control class recorded as 62,43. The T- Test showed that T-Table equals to 1,64 with the degree of reliability 95% . This fact reveals that the students’ ability in solving the problem after being taught through Problem Based Learning is higher than in control class with T-count equals to 3,71; while their connection math ability through Problem Based Learning Model in the Experimental Class is higher than control with T-count 2.17.Keywords: Problem Based Learning, problem solving, mathematics connection
