Use of NACA 0012 at the Sultan Wind Turbine prototype provide value coefficient power turbine at wind speed 5.5 m / s by 0017 , wind speed 6.1 m / s at 0.015 , wind speed 7.7 m / s at 0.016 , wind speed 6.5 m / s for 0018 and wind speed 6.2 m / s by 0017 . Where the value of the highest efficiency obtained at a speed of 6.5 m / s at 0.018 . This result is not as expected to generate sufficient energy.The next development carried out investigations on some kind of airfoil, from investigations obtained by using Qblade software that NACA 6612 has a value of 1.78 CL at 15 degrees angle of attack is the largest of all the airfoil .In this research, NACA 6612 will be simulated with a variable chord length, angle of attack, and wind speed, of these three variables will be created which will map graphics 3d sliding value of the ratio of the 3 variables, this graph will give recommendations most optimum combination of variables to types are mapped wind speed throughout the year, to produce optimum power.Optimum combination of NACA 6612 with wind speed varied from 2-7 m/s is chord length 30 cm and angle of attack 7 degree.

<p>A vertical axis wind turbine triple-stage savonius type has been created by using simple materials to generate electricity for the alternative wind power plant. The objective of this research is to design a simple wind turbine which can operate with low wind speed. The turbine was designed by making three savonius rotors and then varied the structure of angle on the three rotors, 0˚, 90˚ and 120˚. The dimension of the three rotors are created equal with each rotor diameter 35 cm and each rotor height 19 cm. The turbine was tested by using blower as the wind sources. Through the measurements obtained the comparisons of output power, rotation of turbine, and the level of efficiency generated by the three variations. The result showed that the turbine with angle of 120˚ operate most optimally because it is able to produce the highest output power and highest rotation of turbine which is 0.346 Watt and 222.7 RPM. </p><p><strong>Keywords</strong>: Output power; savonius turbine; triple-stage; the structure of angle</p>

The wind turbine power decreases at low wind speed. A flanged diffuser plays a role of a device for collecting and accelerating the approaching wind, and thus the optimization of the diffuser shape presents an important way to enhance the wind turbine power. In this work, a numerical parametric study was conducted on the diffuser to obtain the initial optimum form of flanged diffuser. Then, the Simplex algorithm is used to obtain the optimal diffuser shape starting from the obtained initial shape. Finally, the obtained optimum diffuser shape is used with conventional wind turbine blade. The diffuser shape is defined by four variables: open angle, flange height, centerbody length, and flange angle. The numerical simulation of flanged diffuser is carried out using the “CFDRC package. The results indicated that, the optimum diffuser shape can be obtained using simplex algorithm which maximizes the entrance average velocity to reach 1.77 times wind speed. The power augmented by a factor about 2.76:5.26 of a selected small wind turbine using the obtained diffuser shape compared to that without diffuser.

The power generated in wind turbine depends on wind speed and parameters of blade geometry like aerofoil shape, blade radius, chord length, pitch angle, solidity, etc. Aerofoil selection is the crucial factor in establishing the efficient wind turbine. More than one aerofoil in a blade can increase the efficiency further. Previous studies of different aerofoils have shown that efficiency of small scale wind turbine increases when NREL S822 aerofoil is used for wind speed on and above 10 m/s. This paper introduces a study on effect of low wind speed (V = 5 m/s) on performance of blade profile. Aerofoils NREL S822/S823 are used for microwind turbine with S823 near root and S822 near tip. Blade of 3 m radius with spherical tubercles over entire span is analyzed considering 5 deg angle of attack. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation was carried out using ANSYS fluent to study the behavior of blade profile at various contours. The study shows that blade experiences maximum turbulence and minimum pressure near trailing edge of the tip of blade. The region also experiences maximum velocity of the flow. These factors result in pushing the aerofoil in upward direction for starting the wind turbine to rotate at the speed as low as 5 m/s.
