Abstract The electroweak b → sll (l = e, µ) transition is a flavor-changing neutral current process that mediates through a one-loop penguin diagram. The decay is considered to be a good probe for the New Physics as particles predicted in the beyond Standard Model theories can enter into the loop. The exclusive decay B → K (*) l + l − was first observed by the Belle experiment and it provides many observables such as the branching fraction, CP asymmetry, forward-backward asymmetry, and other angular observables. Recently, the LHCb experiment has reported some clue of a lepton flavor universality violation from the branching fraction ratio of the B → Kµ + µ − and B → Ke + e − decays. In this presentation, we report the status of the B → Kl + l − decay analysis at the Belle II experiment which started the data taking in 2019. We also, present an activity at the Belle II Chulalongkorn University group where we study the B → KJ/ψ decay which has the same topology as the B → Kl + l − .

Lepton flavor violating (LFV) decays are forbidden in the Standard Model (SM) and to explore them one has to go beyond it. The flavor changing neutral current induced lepton flavor conserving and LFV decays of [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] mesons is discussed in the gauge group [Formula: see text]. The lepto-quark [Formula: see text] corresponding to gauge group [Formula: see text] allows the quark–lepton transitions and hence giving a framework to construct the effective Lagrangian for the LFV decays. The mass of lepto-quark [Formula: see text] provides a scale at which the gauge group [Formula: see text] is broken to the SM gauge group. Using the most stringent experimental limit [Formula: see text], the upper bound on the effective coupling constant [Formula: see text] is obtained for certain pairing of lepton and quark generations in the representation [Formula: see text] of the group [Formula: see text]. Later, the effective Lagrangian for the LFV meson decays for the gauge group [Formula: see text] is constructed. Using [Formula: see text], the bound on the ratio of effective couplings is obtained to be [Formula: see text]. A number of decay modes are discussed which provide a promising area to test this model in the current and future particle physics experiments.

Recently, some small hints of lepton flavor violating (LFV) decays have been probed in different colliders and accelerators. Although these processes are forbidden in the Standard Model (SM), observation of LFV decays are considered as good probes to test theory beyond the SM. In this paper, we study some LFV decays, e.g. three-body decay channels of [Formula: see text] lepton like [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] and two-body decays of B meson and [Formula: see text] lepton like [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] in [Formula: see text] model. We calculate the branching ratio of the above decays considering the effect of both [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]-mediated flavor-changing neutral-current (FCNC).

I briefly review the results of recent searches for flavor-changing neutral current and lepton-flavor and lepton-number violating decays of D+, [Formula: see text] and D0 mesons (and their antiparticles) into modes containing muons and electrons. The primary focus is the results from Fermilab charm hadroproduction experiment E791. E791 examined 24 πℓℓ and Kℓℓ decay modes of D+ and [Formula: see text] and ℓ+ℓ- decay modes of D0. Limits presented by E791 for 22 rare and forbidden dilepton decays of D mesons were more stringent than those obtained from previous searches,1 or else were the first reported.

This review discusses the present experimental and theoretical status of rare flavor-changing neutral current b-quark decays at the beginning of 2018. It includes a discussion of the experimental situation and details of the currently observed anomalies in measurements of flavor observables, including lepton flavor universality. Progress on the theory side within and beyond the Standard Model theory is also discussed, together with potential New Physics interpretations of the present measurements.

We report on a search for the flavor-changing neutral current decays D0 → e+e- and D0 → μ+μ-, and the lepton-flavor violating decay D0 → e±μ∓. The measurement is based on 122 fb-1 of data collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric e+e- collider. No evidence is found for any of the decays. The upper limits on the branching fractions, at the 90% confidence level, are 1.2 × 10-6 for D0 → e+e-, 1.3 × 10-6 for D0 → μ+μ-, and 8.1 × 10-7 for D0 → e±μ∓.
