The Tembe Elephant Park was proclaimed in 1983 after negotiations between the then KwaZulu Bureau of Natural Resources and the Tembe Tribal Authority in consultation with the local communities of northern Maputaland, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The park boundaries were subsequently fenced and animal numbers started to increase. The fence has kept the utilisation of renewable natural resources by the local communities at bay for the past 19 years. In this period, the vegetation of the park has been utilised only by the indigenous fauna, but it has been affected by management decisions and possibly also regional environmental changes.

Political changes in Europe at the end of the 80's have resulted in the establishment of the Central European Initiative as an international regional association. Interests in cooperation in the field of tourism can be explained by the fact that the majority of Central European countries have significant cultural, historical and natural resources which are not sufficiently used. The Working Group for Tourism, which has been led by Croatia since 1993, made a decision to conduct research with the main aim of determining basic tourism indicators as a basis for developing a common tourism marketing strategy. This paper presents the research methodology and discusses the main survey results.

This chapter examines both concept of global hazard and disaster and its management in the lights of its vulnerability. It categorized the different types of hazards and disasters and their components. From the research findings, it is observed that hazards and disaster are two sides of a coin. They occur at the interface between human systems and natural events in our physical environments. This chapter highlights that the major environmental changes driving hazards and vulnerability to disasters are climate change, land-use changes, and degradation of natural resources. After presenting a typology of disasters and their magnitude globally, management of disaster has transited from just being a “response and relief”-centric approach to a mitigation and preparedness approach.

In May of 1968 the CDU parliamentary party of Schleswig-Holstein’s parliament (Landtag) established a working group to analyze the “youth protests” taking place throughout Germany . In that summer the Landtag constituted a special committee to ascertain the reasons for the student protests . The special committee held several consultations with political youth associations and experts up until early 1970 and in its final report criticized not only the work of the Landtag, but also the work of the established parties . The reform proposals suggested in the final report are as relevant today as they were 50 years ago . The Schleswig-Holstein Landtag was the only German parliament that dealt with the youth’s criticism and situation . Whilst the parliamentary party of the CDU in the Landtag and the CDU Schleswig-Holstein appeared open and self-critical, the CDU’s national executive committee showed less understanding for the protests and saw no reason for reform .

Water accounting is a new topic that discusses the impact of environmental changes where the existence of water as one of the most vital natural resources is becoming increasingly scarce. The conceptual framework of water accounting should include the element or value of Ihsan. That is, it is expected that users will be able to implement the Ihsan value in water accounting. The environment is an ecosystem created entirely by God for human life. The value of Ihsan in the conceptual framework of water accounting, especially peatland, requires knowledge of the characteristics, types and distribution of peatland. It is intended that peatland can be utilized and managed sustainably. Implementation of the Ihsan value of utilizing peatland for life without damage. As khalifatullahfilard, humans must be able to maintain a balanced environment and life so that nature remains sustainable.
